It is actually from another of his works Of the Epidemics. Hippocrates’ Of the Epidemics says: The physician must be able to tell the antecedents, know the present, and foretell the future — have two special objects in view with regard to disease, namely, to do good or to do no harm. In this work, Hippocrates acts as a prognosticator, raising concerns about not just one malady and one patient, but encompassing the past, present and future of many patients and the maladies they might face. Following this rationale, this book, When Doctors Finally Said No, came to be. Although fiction, these true, medically related stories weave together a movement that is building barriers between doctors and their patients by using criteria based on outcomes instead of efforts. The oath, once the bedrock of this still unpredictable science has now become its Achilles heel. Many of those in the federal government, the insurers, the hospital corporations and the bottom-feeders from the legal community feel they can legislate, regulate, administrate and litigate without real concern what harm might come from their actions, because doctors pledged to do no harm. Hippocrates’ pronouncements laid out an additional duty for doctors beside do no harm and that is doing nothing. When Doctors Finally Said No is the gripping story of the intrusions into the practice of medicine by the payers, the government, and the large hospital corporations that force physicians into a battle they never anticipated.

Ken's second ex-wife, who became a lawyer while married to Ken, launches a hurricane of revenge to destroy Ken and Daisy. Ken's health breaks. The war lasts a quarter of a century. An ex-wife and puppets in powerful places, including a Judge with a clear conflict of interest, and a provincial government demanding patient secrets, work to undermine Ken and Daisy. Reading this book is to read a story on several levels, including the paranormal. There are themes of lies and corruption versus honesty and unwavering determination of Doctor Ken to live by the Hippocratic Oath and keep his promise of confidentiality to his patients. Ken's heart breaks for a final time. After death, Ken purposely proves in several ways that life does continue and that he can communicate with Daisy. In a final chapter, there is a story about a Miracle Healing: a comatose patient in a Canadian hospital where Ken worked as a young doctor had been physically prepared for death by attending doctors. Summoned for the imminent death, parents are at the bedside when the man suddenly revives and immediately names Ken his spirit healer. The little book Packets of Seeds: Messages from Kehnroth Schramm, M.D. describing Life after Passing, is included in the book. In his own words from the beyond, Ken describes his crossing over and continuing life, and gives us advice about what is important in living our lives.
