Book Dissertation on Predestination and Grace

Download or read book Dissertation on Predestination and Grace written by Gottfried Wilhelm Freiherr von Leibniz and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book G. W. Leibniz presents not only his reflections on predestination and election but also a more detailed account of the problem of evil than is found in any of his other works apart from the Theodicy. Surprisingly, his Dissertation on Predestination and Grace has never before been published in any form. Michael J. Murray's project of translating, editing, and providing commentary for the volume will therefore attract great interest among scholars and students of Leibniz's philosophy and theology. Leibniz addresses such topics as free will, moral responsibility, divine causation, justice, punishment, divine foreknowledge, and human freedom, revealing crucial aspects of the genesis of his mature metaphysics and the theological motivations behind it.

Download or read book Divine Election written by Gerrit Cornelis Berkouwer and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 1960 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A discussion of election in a perspective and spirit that will be quite novel to most theologians and ministers. The author contends that election can be understood only within faith, and within a spirit of doxology, for election takes place 'in Christ'. Hence election must be understood and employed in terms of the Gospel. He then repudiates theological usage which employs election and reprobation as a principle of interpretation for theology with the usual consequence of deducing from this truth a nice logical system of theology. Another powerful feature of this book is its criticism of the conception of the sovereignty of God and then makes it into a mere principle of naked 'abosolute power', and ethically neutral principle of brute force. Book The Case for Election The Original Doctrine of Predestination Presented by the Apostles

Download or read book The Case for Election The Original Doctrine of Predestination Presented by the Apostles written by Marc A. Carr and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about how the Christian actually became a Christian. The 'process' is Marc's focus. How does God take the Chosen from the womb to salvation then into His eternal bosom? The classic position of Election and Predestination is made plain; forcing the reader to address the alternative, Man's free-will choice to be 'saved' or not. Can these two positions be reconciled? No, not really. The Lord assured Moses: I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion, Exodus 33:19. Moses was to experience a limited 'theophany, ' what the Greek Orthodox call a 'theosis, ' the physical presence of God, Himself, equivalent to - 'My goodness.' It is God's very 'Goodness' the New Testament saint knows to be the indwelt Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of Christ Jesus, Himself, God Himself. Paul cites the Exodus passage in Romans to demonstrate to the body of Christ that God by His sovereignty elected each believer to be His own, that we did not elect ourselves to be God's. And one Saint asked, "Why write about such things that have been covered for hundreds of years?" True. But more recently much about God's sovereignty has been covered over. Christian modernity has adapted as the author once did to a new Evangelicalism. Whereby, some first truths have been buried so deep that when they are unearthed they appear to be a foreign theology to the present generation of Evangelical believers. Marc affords the saint the information necessary to actually understand how he or she actually got saved! Marc presently lives in Orlando Florida where he pastors Blessed Fellowship Orlando, an outreach ministry of Orlando Prayer and Worship Center, Senior Pastor Roy Futch.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What Do the Five Points of Calvinism Really Mean? Many have heard of Reformed theology, but may not be certain what it is. Some references to it have been positive, some negative. It appears to be important, and they'd like to know more about it. But they want a full, understandable explanation, not a simplistic one. What Is Reformed Theology? is an accessible introduction to beliefs that have been immensely influential in the evangelical church. In this insightful book, R. C. Sproul walks readers through the foundations of the Reformed doctrine and explains how the Reformed belief is centered on God, based on God's Word, and committed to faith in Jesus Christ. Sproul explains the five points of Reformed theology and makes plain the reality of God's amazing grace.

Book The Reformed Doctrine Of Predestination

Download or read book The Reformed Doctrine Of Predestination written by Loraine Boettner D.D. and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-02-08 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Reformed doctrine of predestination has been coming under fire a lot in recent days especially among open theists that question God's sovereignty in the face of evil. Although this book was written many years ago, it still helps to shed light on the true roots of the doctrine and the philosophical and Biblical answers it offers. The doctrine deserves a proper treatment and this work is an attempt at that justification and a look at its history.

Book The Largeness of God s Grace Seen in Predestination

Download or read book The Largeness of God s Grace Seen in Predestination written by William Perkins and published by Puritan Publications. This book was released on 2012-07-06 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is a serious study on the doctrine of predestination as it refers to man’s salvation or reprobation by God’s eternal decree. Perkins teaches from the Bible that the doctrine of predestination and God’s grace is to be founded on the written Word of God, and not on the judgments of men. He also emphatically shows, by a multitude of examples, that this doctrine also agrees with the grounds of common logic and reason as it should. His purpose is to help, almost exhaustively, those who are “stuck on the difficulties of the doctrine of predestination.” This is a classic puritan work, glorifying the sovereign Creator of heaven and earth, and worthy of deep consideration by every professing Christian. This is not a scan or a facsimile, but a newly typeset work updated and made easily readable, with an active table of contents.

Book Election and Predestination

Download or read book Election and Predestination written by Samuel Fisk and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2002-04-09 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You are not about to read the views of one author alone. In this powerful book Samuel Fisk quotes over 100 scholars. He presents, in one volume, a vast array of balanced and scholarly views to help you unravel the vexed questions of election and predestination. It is often assumed that one must be either a Calvinist or an Armenian. This is not so. There is a balanced, scriptural line of truth regarding election that will preserve the Bible student from dangerous by-path meadows into which far too many have strayed over the years. As you read the wise and careful comments of such scholars as W.E. Vine, Sir. Robert Anderson, C.H. Spurgeon, F.B. Meyer, Handley Moule, Harry Ironside, R.A. Torrey, G. Campbell Morgan, Wilber M. Smith, J.C. Ryle, A.T. Robinson, Christopher Wordsworth and J. Sidlow Baxter, you will begin to see your way through this particularly tricky theological minefield. This could be one of the most important books you will ever read.
