Book excerpt: spoken words are not enough, perhaps why we put them in a book. love is a giant turd — words are chaos, it is the sea upside down, and a delusion of galaxy on the floor. this is your saliva, it remains in your mouth and when in need, you may rub it on a bleeding wound. it is the sensation of the creator, you on your knees with your emotions in a cup of tea. wearing your heart with pride on your sleeve. there is no two ways to put it — i am giving you the permission to fall apart. i am telling you that when you walk miles with the fog of failure or the suffering of success on your shoulders, you humanise in ways you cannot decipher. how can we even tell, where one begins and the other ends? if we look too deep for what it means, we might forget what we came for. a cup of life for two celebrates the survival of words. there is nobody i will never not write for.

Book The Second Law of Life

Download or read book The Second Law of Life written by John E.J. Schmitz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2007-01-22 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this compelling, and important book, John Schmitz brings order to the world of chaos that surrounds us. The Second Law of Life refers to the second law of thermodynamics, entropy, which is an omnipresent force that quietly and crucially determines every aspect of our society, culture and daily lives. Unless we come to understand entropy, future generations will face consequences of the unstoppable laws of physics.Entropy explains the amount of energy no longer capable of doing work; in other words, wasted energy or heat loss. Each moment of every day, we lose irreplaceable energy and ômodernö technology is not helping. In fact, it is accelerating the problem at a catastrophic rate. û And we will ultimately face a heat death crisis and utter destruction of the Earth. Even actions we take to improve the environment may actually do more damage than good. For example, recycling is considered environmentally, socially and politically correct. Under the influence of entropy, however, it is a prolific waster of energy; we must look at entire systems, not just parts. It is critical that we find ways to reduce energy loss. Seeing the problems with greater clarity will lead to solutions. This fascinating and accessible journey through the second law of thermodynamics is a step in the right direction.

Book Bread of Life Cup of Salvation

Download or read book Bread of Life Cup of Salvation written by John Francis Baldovin and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2003 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bread of Life, Cup of Salvation is an invitation to a deeper appreciation for the celebration of the Mass and a greater conviction of its importance for our ordinary living-out of Christian faith in daily life. Taking into account the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the new edition of the General Instruction on the Roman Missal, Fr. John Baldovin, S.J., centers his lucid commentary on the Mass around the most recent official documents and provides an up-to-date survey of the historical development of the Mass from the New Testament to the present. Clear, concise, and accessible, Bread of Life, Cup of Salvation is an informative and powerful reflection on the meaning of the Eucharist for us today. This book responds to questions such as What are the orgins of the Mass? How did the Mass develop into what we know today? Why do we have several readings from Scripture at every Mass? Why do we always read a passage from the Gospels last? Why is the Eucharistic Prayer called the center and highpoint of the celebration of the Eucharist? What difference does it make if communion is distributed from the tabernacle or consecrated at the Mass at which people are receiving? Why do we have more than one Eucharistic Prayer? Is it important that people are offered communion in both kinds--the Body and the Blood of Christ? Why did the Mass get its popular name from the dismissal (missa)? Why was it important to recover the exchange of peace?

Book Pathways of Life

Download or read book Pathways of Life written by Elbert Wilson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Remember when farm families did their own butchering, mothers stayed home, folks churned their own butter, canned vegetables and meat, shucked corn, thrashed wheat, used a washboard, walked to church and school and had corncob fights? . When girls (or at least my sisters) curled their hair with curling irons heated in the chimney of a kerosene lamp. . When kids learned to work on the farm, both at home and for the neighbors - and considered it a privilege just to be allowed to participate. . When, at school, the two big challenging recess games for boys were mumble peg and marbles. . When kids who had brothers in the service during World War II shared the worry and agony with their parents, to learn of some neighbor families whose son never came home. . When parents hung little flags in their doors or windows that contained a star for each son in the service -- like the two stars on our flag for my brothers Alvin and Howard. . When we shared in rationing, and we painstakingly saved the foil from cigarette packages and turned it in for the war effort. . When grandma came to visit and brightened up life by making room in her suitcase for chewing gum for the kids and chewing tobacco for herself. . When grandma taught me to catch a chicken and wring its head off - all for the promise of her homemade chicken and noodles. . When we visualized the scenes when glued to the radio listening to Tom Mix, Gene Autry, Jack Armstrong, Inner Sanctum, and Lucky Strike Hit Parade. We thought we had almost everything - looking back, we had a pretty good quality of life. At times I find myself wishing for the return to the more simple ways of life.

Book The Story of My Life My Cup of Poison

Download or read book The Story of My Life My Cup of Poison written by Sandra Crow and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-12-16 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered why you are here on Earth? Does your life seem to be flashing by too fast, and you feel as if you are just doing the same thing day after day? I have wondered this, and through some remarkable blessings, I learned some answers. Each of us is on a journey. Through the ups and downs of that journey, we all end up with a story to share. Its a tale of where we have been, where we are now, and where we are going. This book recounts the story I have been living for the past forty-five years. For many of those years, alcohol wrote my story for me. I was held captive by its addictive grip. My heart was closed to the greater purpose I was here to live. A tragedy helped open it, when I lost my niece to leukemia. Through all the trials, I came to know God and His meaning for my life as His child. He has a purpose for all of us. Every day is a gift, and there are so many lessons we can learn from. Its as simple as being humble enough to open our hearts.
