Book A Critical Investigation into Precognitive Dreams

Download or read book A Critical Investigation into Precognitive Dreams written by Paul Kiritsis and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-02-18 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The precognitive dream is a compelling, real-world phenomenon that still stands outside the purview of orthodox science. It is spoken about anecdotally and has been alluded to time and time again by renowned psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists, and other clinicians expounding upon the nature of their patients’ narratives. However, it receives no empirical airtime because it is incommensurable with conventional explanations of human consciousness like the embodied mind hypothesis and with unconscious philosophical attitudes espoused by disciples of an ostensibly irrevocable Cartesian-Kantian account of the cosmos. This volume examines precognitive dream experiences, offering a comprehensive source of integrated information pertaining to their history and overarching features, their potential neural underpinnings, and the implications for consciousness and competing philosophical theories of determinism and non-determinism. It will serve as a useful reference for both researchers and clinicians hoping to gain insight into an age-old, sublime phenomenon.

Book Metamorphosis through Conscious Living

Download or read book Metamorphosis through Conscious Living written by Ingo B. Jahrsetz and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2017-08-21 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metamorphosis, the theme of this book, derives from the Ancient Greek language and refers to a transformative process that often includes disintegration and reintegration, on the route to conscious living with self, community and the world. This collection proposes that engagement with the sacred is what makes research and practice transpersonal, the sacred ‘other’ that lives both within and beyond us as individuals and unique cultures. The transpersonal approach is distinctive in that it regards the potential metamorphosis of all those involved in research and professional practice a core value. This volume engages the audience in professional, practical, as well as inquiry-related topics that reflect the diverse nature of the transpersonal studies field, and extend an experience of metamorphosis to the reader. The book moves scholarship forward in an innovative and creative way with relevant themes that not only honour the sacred, but lend a transpersonal paradigm to scientific and professional methods and models.

Book The Riddle of Alchemy

Download or read book The Riddle of Alchemy written by Paul Kiritsis and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2024-12-10 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with alchemy's rich, multifaceted tradition from three perspectives - history, psychology, and nomothetic science - something rarely seen in other books on the same subject. Part I - Alchemy: Histories concerns the interdisciplinary and cross-cultural intercourse that occasioned the rich tapestry of alchemical tropes, themes, narratives, and pursuits, addressing the harmonious fusion of Hellenistic nature philosophy, Gnostic mythology, and Egyptian crafts and metallurgical practices in late antiquity - and much more, including the alchemy's role during the Renaissance, its influence on Jacob Boehme’s theosophy, and its medieval imagery's integral role in Jung’s theory of the collective unconscious. Part 2 - Alchemy: Processes of the Mind looks at the alchemical opus and its stages in the context of analytical, developmental, and clinical psychology, offering psychological interpretations of the Splendor Solis plates and integrated alchemical interpretations of personality, personal growth, and the human condition. Part 3 - Alchemy: The Noetic Science examines the empirical validity of alchemical theory and pursuit, addressing the viability of metallic transmutation, the theory of esoteric correspondences - the planet-metal connections - and how its animistic paradigm and principles of transformation might connect to more innovative, radical ideas emergent within the nomothetic disciplines.

Book Anomalous Cognition

Download or read book Anomalous Cognition written by Edwin C. May and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-08-23 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anomalous cognition involves the acquisition of information emerging from a distant point in spacetime that is blocked from the usual sensory systems by distance, shielding or time. From 1975 to 1995, Edwin May was a scientist and then program director for the U.S. government's psychic espionage program, known as STAR GATE. With the closing of that program, research has continued at the Laboratories for Fundamental Research, in Palo Alto, in the areas of methodology and analysis, neurophysiological studies, personnel assessment and selection, operations research, the physics of anomalous cognition, and psychokinesis. The conclusions from this 35+ year research effort can be summarized as (1) ESP exists; (2) the gradient of Shannon entropy is the key factor influencing information transfer; (3) because of the innate nature of the ability, the phenomenon so far resists training for excellence (and replication studies will not yield results), and (4) evidence for psychokinesis (PK) is questionable. This book presents the state-of-the-art, with 26 key papers on research methods, physiological research, decision augmentation theory, entropy, other research, and research challenges.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Precognition is the scientific name for the knowledge or perception of the future, obtained through extrasensory means. Often called 'premonition', precognition is the most frequently reported of all extrasensory perception (ESP) experiences, occurring most often in dreams. It may also occur spontaneously in waking visions, auditory hallucinations, flashing thoughts entering the mind, the sense of ''''knowing'''' and physiological changes. Combining science and practice, Theresa and Dr Julia unravel the mystery of precognition. The book will cover: What precognition is and the different types, clearly explaining the cutting-edge science, including what is known and what is still a mystery The most common premonitions that people experience and why, including examples from around the world Experimental tools to help you cultivate precognition experiences to help get useful information for your lifeCase studies included throughout, with supporting scientific evidence offered alongside to provide validation and explanationPersonal experiences of the authors, detailing how premonition has shaped their lives and interviews with leading scientists and experts in the field Review: ''''Dr Julia Mossbridge and co-author Theresa Cheung show us that our everyday notions of time do not reflect the scientific reality of how time can work in our lives. They dare to examine the so-called anomaly of precognition in a clear-headed way, hopeful that as a society we can build teams of ''''Positive Precogs'''' who globally move us toward positive events and away from negative ones. This book is a major contribution in our understanding of reality and the dormant potential for the so-called supernormal that exists within all of us. Read it and discover the power of time within your mind.'''' -Deepak Chopra, M.D., author of The Healing Self ''''The Premonition Code addresses an unprecedented shift in scientific understanding, all over a refined assessment of the nature of consciousness. At its core lie peculiar and unexpected aspects of time itself, and of causal relationships and modes of knowing that defy conventional explanation. The book is not only a sophisticated and comprehensive presentation of the science behind this world-changing revolution: It also provides a fascinating and practical toolbox to aid conscious beings in personally exploring these mind-bending concepts and applying them positively in their own lives. Thanks to Theresa and Dr Mossbridge, a future based in our loftiest dreams has never been more accessible!'''' -Eben Alexander MD, neurosurgeon and author of Living in a Mindful Universe and Proof of Heaven ''''It seems that the 'other side' might be in 'another time.' In this book we have a mystic and a hard-core scientist using fascinating and accessible examples to demonstrate the remarkable possibilities of precognition and how to access it in your own life.'''' -New York Times bestselling author and spiritual medium, James van Praagh While reading the Premonition Code I felt how my mind set steadily transformed. This easily accessible book on the human capacity to foresee future events presents personal accounts as well as recent scientific insight. What is more, it is about a practical mind technique, probed and tested over the last decades, which might enable us to better sense the future. This book could become the I Ching of our times. -Marc Wittmann, Institute for Frontier Areas of Psychology and Mental Health, Germany ''''Dr. Julia Mossbridge and Theresa Cheung, in Premonition Code, have written an excellent and compelling book that will present the reader with the very latest research in nonlocal consciousness, as well as a way to use these findings to improve their own lives. I recommend it.'''' -Stephan A. Schwartz, Author, Scientist, and Futurist, The 8 Laws of Change, 2016 winner of the Nautilus book award for social change ''''I am excited about The Premonition Code because it exhibits a long overdue blen...

This new edition provides in-depth coverage of the most common approaches to literary analysis today: feminism, psychoanalysis, Marxism, reader-response theory, new criticism, structuralism and semiotics, deconstruction, new historicism, cultural criticism, lesbian/gay/queer theory, African American criticism, and postcolonial criticism.
