Book A Comprehensive Guide to Formaldehyde

Download or read book A Comprehensive Guide to Formaldehyde written by Natasja A. Bach and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This monograph comprises four chapters concerning formaldehyde, a colorless, flammable, strong-smelling chemical and an essential component in many manufacturing industries. Chapter 1 explicates the synthesis of diaminodiphenyl sulphone bisbenzoxazine by three step process and the synthesis of bisphenol-S bisbenzoxazine by solvent method. Chapter 2 remarks on the substantial growth trajectory of formaldehyde, examining the potential health-related effects associated with its rise in popularity and discussing how nanotechnological advancement may play a future role in mitigating the chemical's harmful impact. Chapter 3 discusses the growth and development of doped nanostructure materials by using hydrothermal method in alkaline phase, concluding that the prepared doped nanomaterial could be implemented in a broad scale for efficient electro-chemical sensor applications for environmental and healthcare fields. Chapter 4 describes the production of reinforcing rubber products, specifically tires, using rubber compounded with methylene acceptor and methylene donor"--

Book Formaldehyde

    Book Details:
  • Author : Luoping Zhang
  • Publisher : Royal Society of Chemistry
  • Release : 2018-05-24
  • ISBN : 1782629734

Download or read book Formaldehyde written by Luoping Zhang and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2018-05-24 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Formaldehyde is virtually ubiquitous in the modern environment due to its cost-effective nature, its use in resin formation, and its preservative properties. Though formaldehyde is necessary for many products and processes important to the world’s economy, this economic dependence on formaldehyde comes at a cost to public health. Growth and consequent industrialization rely heavily on formaldehyde use. New buildings—residences, public places, and offices—are not only built with timber preserved by formaldehyde, but they are also furnished with wood, wool, and textile products that contain formaldehyde. The general population faces environmental exposure from indoor and outdoor air pollution, food, and even medicine. Scientific inquiry into formaldehyde exposure has grown in response. This book consolidates the new and established body of formaldehyde research in the scholarly community, focusing on exposure, genotoxicity, and adverse health outcomes. Through this resource, we hope to increase awareness of the broad range of health effects posed by formaldehyde exposure, and to encourage interdisciplinary interest, as well as research, into this pervasive compound—especially in the United States and China, where formaldehyde production and usage is high. This book will be useful to researchers of environmental and occupational exposure, students, and government regulators and anyone exposed to formaldehyde in the workplace and/or at home.

Book A Comprehensive Guide to the Hazardous Properties of Chemical Substances

Download or read book A Comprehensive Guide to the Hazardous Properties of Chemical Substances written by Pradyot Patnaik and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-07-27 with total page 1086 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The definitive guide to the hazardous properties of chemical compounds Correlating chemical structure with toxicity to humans and the environment, and the chemical structure of compounds to their hazardous properties, A Comprehensive Guide to the Hazardous Properties of Chemical Substances, Third Edition allows users to assess the toxicity of a substance even when no experimental data exists. Thus, it bridges the gap between hazardous materials and chemistry. Extensively updated and expanded, this reference: Examines organics, metals and inorganics, industrial solvents, common gases, particulates, explosives, and radioactive substances, covering everything from toxicity and carcinogenicity to flammability and explosive reactivity to handling and disposal practices Arranges hazardous chemical substances according to their chemical structures and functional groups for easy reference Includes updated information on the toxic, flammable, and explosive properties of chemical substances Covers additional metals in the chapters on toxic and reactive metals Updates the threshold exposure limits in the workplace air for a number of substances Features the latest information on industrial solvents and toxic and flammable gases Includes numerous tables, formulas, and a glossary for quick reference Because it provides information that enables those with a chemistry background to perform assessments without prior data, this comprehensive reference appeals to chemists, chemical engineers, toxicologists, and forensic scientists, as well as industrial hygienists, occupational physicians, Hazmat professionals, and others in related fields.
