Download or read book Ionizing RadiationProtection and Dosimetry written by Guy Paic and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1988-01-31 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guidebook explores the basics of the interaction of radiation with matter both from the physical and chemical aspects and the relation to biological effects. Calculations of absorbed doses and dose equivalent and ways to minimize exposure and optimization of radiation protection in light of the latest international recommenda-tions are discussed and examples are shown. Frequently used dosimeters, radiation detectors with an emphasis on TL and chemi-cal dosimeters and the dosimetry of fast neutron beams with spe-cial attention to medical uses in neutron therapy are discussed. The latest data on exposure resulting from natural and man-made sources in the environment is also covered.

This book was released on 1993-10-31 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Commission on Radiological Protection and the Euratom Council directive have specified that workers exposed to ionizing radiation shall be subjected to individual dose monitoring. In the past, individual doses have almost always been monitored by film badge dosimeters, but thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) are now coming into widespread use, principally due to the availability of automated readout systems. Techniques and Management of Personnel Thermoluminescence Dosimetry Services gives details of the operation of and experience gained with a number of large-scale TL personnel dosimetry services, with particular attention being paid to the management aspects of such services. For technical and administrative personnel in TLD services, TLD system designers, staff of licensing authorities concerned with dosimetric licensing, students of radiation protection, especially in the area of protection from ionizing radiation. A basic knowledge of atomic and nuclear physics is assumed, and a training in radiation protection or health physics would be an advantage.

Download or read book Radiation Dosimetry Phosphors written by Sanjay J. Dhoble and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2022-05-26 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiation Dosimetry Phosphors provides an overview of the synthesis, properties and applications of materials used for radiation dosimetry and reviews the most appropriate phosphor materials for each radiation dosimetry technique. The book describes the available phosphors used commercially for their applications in the medical field for dose measurements. Although radiation dosimetry phosphors are commercially available, continuous efforts have been made by the worldwide research community to develop new materials or improve already existing materials used in different areas with low or high levels of radiation. Moreover, researchers are still working on developing dosimetric phosphors for OSL, ML, LL and RPL dosimetry. This book provides an overall view of the phosphors available, low cost synthesis methods, mechanisms involved, emerging trends and new challenges for the development of emerging materials for radiation dosimetry. It is suitable for those working in academia and R&D laboratories in the discipline of materials science and engineering, along with practitioners working in radiation and dosimetry. - Provides the fundamental concepts, historical context and review of current phosphors available for radiation dosimetry - Reviews low-cost material methods to synthesize and characterize rare earth doped inorganic phosphors for different kinds of radiation dosimetry techniques - Discusses key barriers and potential solutions for enabling commercial realization phosphors for radiation dosimetry applications
