If students learn second languages like their first, then high auditory Spanish input could increase learning. This quasi-experimental study examined the impact of increased teacher-speech in Spanish upon the achievement of 9th graders in two Spanish classes. ... Despite the lack of significant achievement improvements, the study represents one step towards developing new guidelines to teach real-world Spanish communication. The study offers many suggestions for replication, particularly a longer treatment period.
