Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever questioned the teachings of the church? Do they make sense to you? When there are teachings you don't understand, have you ever been told, "Just take it on faith, brother?" I have! This was not acceptable to me. If God wants us to know him and his son, Jesus Christ, and the Word of God is his communication to us, then we as individuals should be able to study his Word and understand it. However, I believe that we are in the unfortunate time for the church in which the prophecy of the Apostle Paul has come to its fulfillment: For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4) This book presents many of the questions I had in my quest for truth. It addresses some of the most egregious doctrines that lead people away from understanding God's plan and how they are to fi t into it. In order to effectively seek God, you must ask questions. Why? Mainly because it is just as easy to believe a lie as it is the truth. Remember John 4:23-24: Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.

Download or read book A Search for Truth written by Ernest J. Honigmann and published by Mira Digital Publishing. This book was released on 2016-08-03 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The genesis of this book was in 1957 when the author was rejected from a loving courtship because he did not believe in the existence of God. To quell the pain, and to understand what had happened to him, he researched the evidence as to why people believe that God exists. The result was this book, a predominance of evidence in favor of atheism. Further, the author found that truth should always be held provisionally, not permanently, pending discovery of new evidence and insights. For example, the author’s atheism is provisional. His search also brought a tough new world. If God does not exist, we need new concepts for the meaning of life, the basis of morality, and our unalienable Rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. This book offers his solutions to those problems. And one more thing: The author’s recommendation in his final chapter for a new way to search for religious truth forms the most exciting part of this book, and possibly the most prophetic. Now, in 2016, 50 years after it had been offered to the world, and rejected by the publishers as a threat to their own interests, our society has come of age. And this book, with its eye-opening freshness still intact, is finally yours to learn from and to enjoy.

Download or read book Concealed Truth Revealed written by Vivian Elizabeth Stett Muir and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-11-06 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carolyn Bryant tells her story. She begins with her attempt to commit suicide and her depression in 1977. After twelve years, she told her family that if she did not get help, she would succeed next time because no one would catch her. Carolyn took on therapy just like she took on everything else. She gave it her all. She became a voracious reader, consuming every book Sandy, her therapist, recommended. She wrote a letter to her parents relating her fifty-four years of pain and anger. Following the writing of the letter, she was plagued with partial memories that did not make sense. She met Bob, a hypnotherapist, who was to become the next leg of the three-legged stool that would change her life forever. A few weeks after meeting Bob, she called him and said she would like to make an appointment. He said, "I was waiting for your call." She made an appointment and began retrieving lost memories. She was beginning to find herself. She decided to change her name to Vivian. A few years later, the third leg of the three-legged stool appeared. So much happened by chance. Or was it by chance? The author Richard Bach says that nothing is by chance. Vivian won a free massage at a dinner. She went to several massage sessions, and the lady said to her, "I have never done this before, but I think I have a friend who is also a Rikki masseuse, and I think she is who you should be seeing. If you try her and are not satisfied, I will always be available." Vivian made an appointment with Gayle and knew immediately that she had just found the third leg of her three-legged stool.

Book A Declaration of Christian Truth

Download or read book A Declaration of Christian Truth written by Randy Gingrich and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-21 with total page 734 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Truth * Repentance * Glory * RevivalThis book takes the reader on an adventure of intriguing theological thought as it explores over fifty topics relevant to the Christian life. The author's teaching is to the point, yet comprehensive enough to answer a range of questions as it articulates the truth of God's Word. The value of understanding the Bible blossoms in the beauty of God's glory as the wisdom of the Lord applies his truth to our everyday life.A much-needed systematic theology is established as doctrine is taught with originality in the power of the Holy Spirit with dynamic revelation. It builds solid truth in a structural style and should resonate with any believer as prophetic, personal, and inspirational. Theologically, it is equivalent to a four-year Bible College. Biblical truth is taught to equip the Christian and minister with significant knowledge and wisdom on over fifty topics. Many false beliefs and misconceptions are dealt with while God's Word is taught in clarity. The book shares breakthrough insight on many subjects of the Bible that are hard to understand. Also, there is significant teaching on the born-again experience, the constitution of the Christian or who we are in Christ, the baptism with the Holy Spirit, authentic worship, and much more! This is a textbook for the Christian life. Many will see it as a great source of sermons, curriculum, and position papers. The titles of the forty-four chapters should strike the interest of any God-fearing truth-loving Christian. You will not be disappointed as the Holy Spirit articulates God's will, sorts out ideas, clears away confusion, and builds solid beliefs and practice! You will see a consistency of relationship. The Bible is a unified masterpiece of truth; it's all related. Most chapters start fresh with new topics and developing themes. There are studious sections that dig deep for the purpose of benefiting everyone with greater appreciation and knowledge of God's Word while attempting to satisfy the Bible College graduate. There is much teaching today that has obscured the true meaning and application of Scripture, placed a veil over the heart of believers, and deprived Christians of its complete relevant impact upon them. Therefore, it was necessary to write a book which establishes a systematic theology based upon the full counsel of God (Acts 20:27) without imposing agendas nor being controlled by any religious group.

Download or read book Truth To Tell written by Jude Hayland and published by eBook Partnership. This book was released on 2013-02-12 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mary Foster has a story to tell a truth to discover. And she needs to go back several decades in an attempt to pin down the past and come to some sort of understanding and acceptance of the actions of its main players. A chance remark by her frail and elderly mother is the impulse that starts her quarrying. But it is not enough for her simply to recall. She wants to remember it as she lived it, with the impressions and emotions of her childhood and adolescence, a time of very different attitudes and values from the present. At the age of 11, her family's abrupt, impulsive move from north London to the south coast of England is an unsettling intrusion into young Mary's bland life. Swapping red London buses and the comforting familiarity of suburbia for bleak seascapes and the endless screech of seagulls is as unwelcome as the prospect of their dilapidated and unwieldy new home at 8, Sea View Parade. The sixties may have been an explosive decade for many, but Mary's parsimonious and frugal mother, Ida, and her timid, acquiescent father, Jack, ensure that the family's daily life is impervious to such change. Student revolts, a sexual revolution, rebellious life styles may have been catalogued in the social history books of the late 1960's, but the microcosm of Mary's upbringing and environment is unphased. Befriending the confident and assured Eva Mason, Mary finds an essential ally to guide her through the early teen years and so takes little notice of developments at 8, Sea View Parade where two lodgers have moved in to live alongside Mary and her parents, Ida and Jack Foster. Neat and nervous Miss Mackie and the abrasive artist, Mr. Fred Jarvis, are of little importance or relevance to Mary, she considers. She and Eva are far more concerned with bus trips into Brighton, spending pocket money at Woolworth's and auditioning for the play at the boys' school.A dramatic event, however, shifts the balance of the lives of the Foster family and the apparent harmony in which they have been living proves to be a facsimile of treachery and lies. Confrontation with the raw truth of the actions of those involved is avoided at the time, however, nudged aside, sidestepped and suppressed for the sake of expediency. It is easier, after all, simply to pretend that none of it ever happened. Leaving home with relief at the age of 18, Mary imagines she has placed the past behind her, parceled it up and removed it from her mind. The hooks, however, remain, insistent. Memories persist. As the middle aged Mary is compelled to retrace the past, going back to those years at 8, Sea View Parade, her mother, Ida Foster, is dying, her father inevitably declining and time suddenly seems short to uncover certain truths. But even Mary has not anticipated the possibility of potent new revelations and needs to decide whether it is wise or folly to pursue them.

Book Murder at Camp Delta

Download or read book Murder at Camp Delta written by Joseph Hickman and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2015-01-20 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The revelatory inside story about Guantánamo Bay—and the US government cover up—by the Staff Sergeant who felt honor-bound to uncover it: “A disturbing account…made with compelling clarity and strength of character” (Publishers Weekly). Staff Sergeant Joe Hickman was a loyal member of the armed forces and a proud American patriot. For twenty years, he worked as a prison guard, a private investigator, and in the military, earning more than twenty commendations and awards. When he re-enlisted after 9/11, he served as a team leader and Sergeant of the Guard in Guantánamo Naval Base. From the moment he arrived at Camp Delta, something was amiss. The prions were chaotic, detainees were abused, and Hickman uncovered by accident a secret facility he labeled “Camp No.” On June 9, 2006, the night Hickman was on duty, three prisoners died, supposed suicides, and Hickman knew something was seriously wrong. So began his epic search for the truth, an odyssey that would lead him to conclude that the US government was using Guantánamo not just as a prison, but as a training ground for interrogators to test advanced torture techniques. For the first time, Hickman details the inner workings of Camp Delta: the events surrounding the death of three prisoners, the orchestrated cover-up, and the secret facility at the heart of it all. From his own eyewitness account and a careful review of thousands of documents, he deconstructs the government’s account of what happened and proves that the military not only tortured prisoners, but lied about their deaths. By revealing Guantánamo’s true nature, Sergeant Hickman shows us why the prison has been so difficult to close. “Murder at Camp Delta is a plainly told, unsettling corrective to the many jingoistic accounts of post-9/11 military action” (Kirkus Reviews).
