Download or read book Mark written by Dr. David Jeremiah and published by HarperChristian Resources. This book was released on 2019-06-18 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus is always at work and active... Follow Dr. Jeremiah through the gospel of Mark in a chapter-by-chapter study that will help you understand what it meant to the people at the time it was written, and what it means to Christians today. Mark's gospel was likely the first written record of the life of Jesus Christ, and it's full of energy and action. The word immediately appears so often in the text that it's hard not to get caught up in the pace of the narrative as Jesus moves to establish his kingdom in a way that was completely unanticipated. However, Mark also begins his account with words from Isaiah the prophet, making it (immediately) clear that—had the religious leaders of the time been paying attention—they might have been a little more prepared for the arrival of the Messiah and for everything that happened next... Each of this study's twelve lessons is clearly organized to include: Getting Started: An opening question to introduce you to the lesson. Setting the Stage: A short reflection to explain the context of the study. Exploring the Text: The Scripture reading for the lesson with related study questions. Reviewing the Story: Questions to help you identify key points in the reading. Applying the Message: Questions to help you apply the key ideas to their lives. Reflecting on the Meaning: A closing reflection on the key teachings in the lesson. —ABOUT THE SERIES— The Jeremiah Bible Study Series captures Dr. David Jeremiah's forty-plus years of commitment in teaching the Word of God. In each study, you'll gain insights into the text, identify key stories and themes, and be challenged to apply the truths you uncover to your life. By the end of each study, you'll come away with a clear and memorable understanding of that Bible book. Each study also contains a Leader's Guide.
Download or read book Navigating Through the Gospel of Mark with Captain Bill Brogdon written by Joyce Sidey Brogdon and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-06 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus taught powerful themes by telling stories using everyday commodities as examples and making the unfamiliar come alive for His hearers. His message was for all people, in all social brackets; rich, poor and every class in between. His main thrust was to bring the Gospel (the good news) to the world that all people might have the opportunity to get to know God and learn of His great love for humankind. Through countless ages Mark's Gospel has been held to the light and scrutinized. Mark, through Peter, has faithfully recorded the words of Jesus, the Master teacher. Mark, like Peter, was martyred for his Christian faith. Though scholars continue to help simplify the text, many readers still miss some of the richness of the message because of lack of understanding. Though no one can duplicate Christ's genius, Captain Bill Brogdon attempted to emulate His teaching methods, taking the obscure and difficult and putting it into plain language and using down to earth logic to make it understandable for everybody. In compiling Bill's notes, his wife Joyce, has formulated the text so that it can be read straight through as an interesting story or, following the outline, it can be used as a guide to deeper study of the Gospel according to Mark. Joyce Sidey Brogdon was born in London and grew up in Suffolk, on the east coast of England. She received her bachelor's degree in English from the University of Texas and her master's degree from the University of Southern Maine. Other books by her are, Majuba House (Xulon press, 2003), which is an autobiographic account of growing up in England during WWII, and The Gold Chaser (Borrego Publishing, 2007), which is the story of a remarkable talented Irishman.

Licona turns to Greek classicist Plutarch for an answer, assessing differences that appeared when Plutarch told the same story more than once in his Lives.
