We are, so we wrote a play and stole a bass guitar which I’m sure we’ll fit in somewhere. Written partially in verse; partially in rap but mostly in swear words ANGRY is not quite like anything you’ve ever seen but quite similar to a lot of different things you may have seen. Join us as we get loud, we get violent, we get furious beyond the government-approved safety level. We will shout at you, we will swear at you, we will spill our rage at the world upon you... but we expect nothing less than the same in return. Winner of The Sunday Times Playwriting Award 2015, ANGRY is the rallying cry of a generation with nothing left to say; part gig, part drinking game and not for the faint of heart. ANGRY has courted controversy across the country with its poetry-cum swearword script and its punk-funk music stylings. Come watch a bunch of twenty somethings in their pants, punch drums and each other to the rhythms of their inner children crying. Described as 'The most important thing I've seen at NSDF, in any year' in Noises Off magazine, ANGRY promises to be a night worth remembering.

Download or read book Broken Record written by Herbert Feldman and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2005-12-02 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Set in the late 1970s, shortly before the advent of the AIDS epidemic, an era still redolent of Vietnam and Watergate, Broken Record represents one man’s crossing through a transitional period in the nation’s history, as delineated in the madness of New York, when the city was infested with crime and unbridled sexuality. During this sordid and thrilling epoch in the city, Bobby Cahn, an underemployed man of 35 learns that the chronic stomach pains that have tormented him for a decade are not the stuff of hypochondria, but the lethal messiness of cancer. A large section of the book takes place in the hospital, The Gosmomberger Pavilion, where Bobby encounters doctors and staff that include, among others, a surgeon who extracts healthy pancreases that are subsequently employed in the preparation of gourmet dishes highlighting the organ, a sadistic aide, capable of committing mayhem on patients he finds annoying, and a nymphomaniac who seduces the dying. The tone of Broken Record is sardonic, reflecting damaged humanity, and a debauched, vacated society, but the mordant pitch of the novel cannot mask the grief and tragedy that mark the stations of Bobby’s passage; indeed the ineluctability of Bobby’s final reckoning proves that all men are Everyman--and that the demise of any single human being, even those who appear worthless and indecent in their lack of regard for others, brings universal mourning. Readers will not easily forget Bobby Cahn and the population of Broken Record.

Download or read book Loonyology written by Charles Bronson and published by Andrews UK Limited. This book was released on 2011-11-09 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lifer Charlie Bronson's reputation precedes him - ‘Britain's most violent prisoner’ - or does it? Do we really know the true Charlie, or are our impressions the result of media hype? Well, what is in no doubt is that Loonyology is 200% Bronson and will transport the reader on the dizziest no-holds-barred roller-coaster ride of their lives, from suspense and shock to laughter and tears, and from Bronson the ‘Solitary King’ to Bronson the Philosopher, the Poet, the Artist, the Author, the Joker, the Walking Scar and the Freedom Fighter. Now 55 years old, and having spent most of his last 34 years as a maximum security ‘Bronco Zoo’ inmate, he’s a much wiser man as he looks back on his crazy journey of unpredictable behaviour, his ever-alert mind darting from reminiscences of his teenage years to memories of fellow-cons, the screws, the cranks, letters and news reports, prison life and procedures, and the overall madness (‘loonyology’) of the legal and penal systems, peppering his stories with diary entries, true gems of information, sound advice and hilarious one-liners. Together with his many supporters and with the aid of a top lawyer, Charlie is campaigning for the parole board to finally allow him his freedom, but begging is not his style: he calls a spade a spade and is determined to win with dignity, fighting with his pen and his brain to achieve his aim of a life outside ‘the cage’. In his words: “I chose to be a villain. I’m not proud of it, nor am I ashamed of it. I have paid my debt to society and it’s time to go home.”
