Book Preparative Enantioselective Chromatography

Download or read book Preparative Enantioselective Chromatography written by Geoffrey B. Cox and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-15 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of chiral liquid chromatography, facilitating thestraightforward separation of enantiomers, was a significantadvance in chromatography, leading to widespread application inanalytical chemistry. Application in preparative chromatography hasbeen less rapid, but with the development of single enantiomerpharmaceuticals its use is increasingly common in chemicalsynthesis at laboratory, pilot plant and even full productionscale. Brings non-experts up to speed quickly and comprehensively, facilitating the rapid development of effective separations ofenantiomeric mixtures on a range of process scales Presents case studies drawn from within the pharmaceuticalindustry to clearly illustrate the utility and value of preparativescale enantioselective chromatography in chemical research, development and production Key reference source and entry to the literature so the readerdoes not have to engage in expensive and time consuming literaturesearching

Book Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals

Download or read book Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals written by Brian H. Davison and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 892 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increased attendance required concurrent sessions for the 48 oral presentations and 190 submitted posters (for more details see Website: www.ct.ornl.gov/symposium). Attendees came from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, The Netherlands, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and Ven ezuela, as well as from the United States. This international perspective was continued in a Special Topic Ses sion sponsored by the International Energy Agency (lEA) Bioenergy Pro gram on Biofuels and chaired by Jack Saddler and David Gregg from the University of British Columbia. Several of the 10 member countries in this network are approaching Demonstrations of the Biomass-to-Ethanol pro cess and have a range of more fundamental projects that look at various aspects of pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, fermentation, and lignin utilization. Presenters from several of the participating countries described their country's biomass-to-ethanol projects, and differential factors such as the type of biomass available, the maturity of the wood or agricultural processing industry, and the willingness of government to bear the risk/ cost of development and demonstration.

Download or read book Supercritical Fluids written by E. Kiran and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 602 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supercritical fluids are neither gas nor liquid, but can be compressed gradually from low to high density and they are therefore interesting and important as tunable solvents and reaction media in the chemical process industry. By adjusting the density the properties of these fluids can be customised and manipulated for a given process - physical or chemical transformation. Separation and processing using supercritical solvents such as CO2 are currently on-line commercially in the food, essential oils and polymer industries. Many agencies and industries are considering the use of supercritical water for waste remediation. Supercritical fluid chromatography represents another, major analytical application. Significant advances have recently been made in materials processing, ranging from particle formation to the creation of porous materials. The chapters in this book provide tutorial accounts of topical areas centred around: (1) phase equilibria, thermodynamics and equations of state; (2) critical behaviour, crossover effects; (3) transport and interfacial properties; (4) molecular modelling, computer simulation; (5) reactions, spectroscopy; (6) phase separation kinetics; (7) extractions; (8) applications to polymers, pharmaceuticals, natural materials and chromatography; (9) process scale-up.
