Download or read book Inequalities written by Radmila Bulajich Manfrino and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended for the Mathematical Olympiad students who wish to prepare for the study of inequalities, a topic now of frequent use at various levels of mathematical competitions. In this volume we present both classic inequalities and the more useful inequalities for confronting and solving optimization problems. An important part of this book deals with geometric inequalities and this fact makes a big difference with respect to most of the books that deal with this topic in the mathematical olympiad. The book has been organized in four chapters which have each of them a different character. Chapter 1 is dedicated to present basic inequalities. Most of them are numerical inequalities generally lacking any geometric meaning. However, where it is possible to provide a geometric interpretation, we include it as we go along. We emphasize the importance of some of these inequalities, such as the inequality between the arithmetic mean and the geometric mean, the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality, the rearrangementinequality, the Jensen inequality, the Muirhead theorem, among others. For all these, besides giving the proof, we present several examples that show how to use them in mathematical olympiad problems. We also emphasize how the substitution strategy is used to deduce several inequalities.

Men are no longer perceived as the economic providers to families. The role of men in the family has undergone many "diverse demographic, socio-economic and cultural transformations" impacting the formation, stability and overall well-being of families. In light of this development, DESA's Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD) launched a new publication on "Men in Families and Family Policy in a Changing World" on 17 February focusing on the shifting roles and views of men in families."--Provided by publisher.

Download or read book Health Technology Assessment and Health Policy Today A Multifaceted View of their Unstable Crossroads written by Juan E. del Llano-Señarís and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-08 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book disentangles the issues in connection with the advancement of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and its interface with health policy. It highlights the factors that should shape its progress in the near future. Interdisciplinary and critical views from a number of professionals are put together in a prescient order to cast some light and make recommendations as to the next steps HTA should take to be fit for purpose. A wealth of documents dealing with HTA have been published over the last three decades. HTA allegedly is one of the bedrocks of regulation and medical decision making. However, counter vailing visions contend that geographical variations in the role that HTA is actually playing within countries pinpoints specific room for improvement. Given our social preferences, cherry-picking HTA’s features and successes over the last decades moves it away from its possibility frontier. Some of the most noteworthy hindrances that HTA faces, in several countries, to making headway towards its consolidation as an efficient tool for regulation and decision making are as follows: insufficient resources, delays in assessment, inadequate priority setting, regulatory capture, public distrust, actual influence on regulatory decisions, the need for strengthening international cooperation and harmony, the lack of sound and consistent assessments of diagnostic tests, medical devices and surgical innovations and limited dissemination. Time has come for HTA to take a renewed stand. There is a pressing need to submit HTA to in-depth critical scrutiny.

Download or read book Advanced Olympiad Inequalities Algebraic Geometric Olympiad Inequalities written by Alijadallah Belabess and published by . This book was released on 2019-03-14 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a unique collection of new inequalities that were specifically imagined by the author to challenge the boundaries of curiosity and imagination. The inequalities are extremely beautiful and sharp, and the book covers various topics from 3 and 4 variables inequalities, symmetric and non-symmetric inequalities to geometric inequalities. Many of the exercises are presented with detailed solutions covering a variety of must-know old and new techniques in tackling Olympiad problems. The book contains also a variety of unsolved exercises which were left to the reader as additional challenges. Most importantly, the book deals with the daunting topic of asymmetric inequalities where most classical approaches fail. The book has been organised in five chapters. In the first one, we presented a collection of classical algebraic and geometric inequalities such as Cauchy-Schwarz, Cheybeshev's, Newton's, Bernoulli's, Euler's, Walker's inequalities among others. These are the classical inequalities that any student should master if he is aiming for a medal at Mathematical Olympiad competitions. The second and third chapters deal respectively with 3 and 4 variables inequalities covering both symmetric and asymmetric inequalities. The fourth chapter is about Geometric inequalities involving triangle sides, medians, altitudes, internal bisectors, areas, perimeters, orthic triangles, angles, circumradius, inradius...The last chapter contains detailed solutions to the proposed problems with more than one solution for some of the inequalities.

This book was released on 2009-01-01 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book that has a lot to offer. Many of its readers will benefit from the first chapters which comprehensively analyse the case law and put it in context, whilst others will benefit more from the more conceptual chapters and the criticism of certain points and suggestions for a way forward contained in them. Paul L.C. Torremans, European Intellectual Property Review This timely volume offers a comprehensive review of case law, in various jurisdictions, on secondary liability for copyright infringement, particularly P2P file sharing and online infringements. Moreover, the book includes forward-looking contributions of prominent academics from the USA and the EU, which provide original perspectives on the future shape of online copyright law, looking at questions such as whether it could or even should evolve towards a compensation system. By combining these different avenues, the book will be of particular interest to practitioners, academics, researchers and legal scholars involved in the field of copyright law.
