Book A Commentary on 1 2 Timothy Titus Philemon

Download or read book A Commentary on 1 2 Timothy Titus Philemon written by David Pawson and published by Anchor. This book was released on 2015-09-08 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul's letters to Timothy and Titus have sometimes been labelled his 'Pastoral Epistles'. Scholars have assigned them to a later period in Paul's ministry, when churches he founded were more settled in structure, perhaps after release from his first imprisonment in Rome and during a second (which may be true). Others postulate a later pseudonymous writer, claiming to be Paul (which may not be true). The fact is that all Paul's letters are 'pastoral' in content, full of paternal care and concern for his converts and their fellowships. What really distinguishes these is that they are addressed to individuals rather than churches. So it seems more appropriate to classify them as his 'Personal' correspondence. We can therefore expect them to reveal more of his personal relationship with his and their reactions to his delegated responsibilities, giving helpers their unique interest and relevance. It also enables us to include the brief note to Philemon, whose importance in the New Testament tends to be overlooked.

Book 1 and 2 Thessalonians Titus and Philemon

Download or read book 1 and 2 Thessalonians Titus and Philemon written by John Cicone and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-07-12 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guide has been developed for those desiring a more in-depth study of the Bible than what is generally available today. The questions often require the student to search several Scripture references to reach a final conclusion. The authors firmly believe that there are three primary ways in which we learn and grow: (1) from the teacher (leader), (2) from the textbook (God's Word), and (3) from others (fellow students) - not necessarily in that order. While the leader can provide some insight and we can definitely learn much from the Bible, it is the life experiences and viewpoints of others that are also valuable. Therefore, some of the questions are designed to create discussion within the group. It is the hope of the authors that this study will be used to ..".build up the church, the body of Christ...so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love." (Ephesians 4:12, 16)

Book First and Second Timothy Titus Philemon

Download or read book First and Second Timothy Titus Philemon written by Terence J. Keegan and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2016-12-01 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First and Second Timothy and Titus are designated Pastoral Letters because they deal with leadership and organizational issues of the early Christian community. Probably written after the death ofPaul, they nevertheless express what Paul himself would have and could have written to community leaders. Second Timothy gives the greatest amount of biographical material we have aboutPaul. The Letter to Philemon, a miniature but authentic Pauline jewel, is a masterpiece of persuasion regarding a slave's freedom. Terence J. Keegan's perceptive commentaries on these precious remnants of first century Christianity provide information and insight regarding the gradual growth of the church. There are pertinent lessons here for today's shepherds and their flocks. Terence J. Keegan, OP, serves as the executive vice president and treasurer at Providence College, Providence, Rhode Island.

Download or read book 1 and 2 Thessalonians and Titus written by John F. MacArthur and published by HarperChristian Resources. This book was released on 2016-05-31 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pastor John MacArthur will take you through the Thessalonians and the short letter to Titus, passage by passage, so that you can better understand Paul's audience, his message, and his reminder to live a life of faithfulness. Like a tender shepherd, Paul wrote the letters of 1 & 2 Thessalonians to the church he founded in the large city of Thessalonica. These were friends he knew, loved, and missed. His purpose in writing was to thank them for their work of faith, their labor of love, and their continued hope in the Lord Jesus Christ . . . and His coming again. Similarly, Paul's letter to Titus—a young pastor in Crete—is filled with personal affirmation, counsel, and guidance on how to prepare church leaders for effective evangelism. These letters of instruction are as inspirational for us today as they were for these first-century Christ followers. —ABOUT THE SERIES— The MacArthur Bible Study series is designed to help you study the Word of God with guidance from widely respected pastor and author John MacArthur.
