Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: HERE IS ONE BIG BOOK OF FUN. BEFORE YOU'RE DONE YOU'LL LAUGH A TON! Award-winning author Judi Barrett and illustrator Daniel Moreton invite young readers to think of numbers, counting, and rhyming in a whole new way. A Few Words From the Author: I've always wanted to create a different kind of counting book. I love playing with words, rhyming them, making jokes with them, and playing with their sounds. I had such a good time writing I Knew Two Who Said Moo. I started with the sound of each number, and then thought of other words with similar sounds that I could use to create these nonsense rhymes that do make sense -- in a silly way! Writing this book made me laugh. I hope it makes you laugh too! Your friend, JUDI BARRETT

SEAL is a prestigious international conference series in evolutionary computation and learning. This biennial event was ?rst held in Seoul, Korea, in 1996, and then in Canberra, Australia (1998), Nagoya, Japan (2000), Singapore (2002), Busan, Korea (2004), and Hefei, China (2006). SEAL 2008 received 140 paper submissions from more than 30 countries. After a rigorous peer-review process involving at least 3 reviews for each paper (i.e., over 420 reviews in total), the best 65 papers were selected to be presented at the conference and included in this volume, resulting in an acceptance rate of about 46%. The papers included in this volume cover a wide range of topics in simulated evolution and learning: from evolutionarylearning to evolutionary optimization, from hybrid systems to adaptive systems, from theoretical issues to real-world applications. They represent some of the latest and best research in simulated evolution and learning in the world.

Download or read book Learning to Understand Remote Sensing Images written by Qi Wang and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-09-30 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the recent advances in remote sensing technologies for Earth observation, many different remote sensors are collecting data with distinctive properties. The obtained data are so large and complex that analyzing them manually becomes impractical or even impossible. Therefore, understanding remote sensing images effectively, in connection with physics, has been the primary concern of the remote sensing research community in recent years. For this purpose, machine learning is thought to be a promising technique because it can make the system learn to improve itself. With this distinctive characteristic, the algorithms will be more adaptive, automatic, and intelligent. This book introduces some of the most challenging issues of machine learning in the field of remote sensing, and the latest advanced technologies developed for different applications. It integrates with multi-source/multi-temporal/multi-scale data, and mainly focuses on learning to understand remote sensing images. Particularly, it presents many more effective techniques based on the popular concepts of deep learning and big data to reach new heights of data understanding. Through reporting recent advances in the machine learning approaches towards analyzing and understanding remote sensing images, this book can help readers become more familiar with knowledge frontier and foster an increased interest in this field.

Download or read book Learners in Japanese Language Classrooms written by Reiko Yoshida and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2009-06-22 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The verbal participation of learners in language classrooms offers a rich seam of data to the applied linguist. Overt and covert participation, when examined, can reveal both the structures of a classroom and elicit privileged information on participant's self-perceptions. It examines the verbal participation of learners in Japanese as a Foreign Language classrooms. Verbal interactions with teachers and classmates and 'private' speech acts are examined in relation to the classroom context and also sociocultural factors such as the learner's motivation and the teacher's belief in their own methods. The examination of corrective feedback episodes and learners' private speech uses recorded speech and stimulated recall interviews recorded over the period of a year. The main focus is on Corrective Feedback episodes, and explains not only the language used in class but also teacher's and learner's own perceptions. It will be of interest to researchers in applied linguistics and second language acquisition, especially those involved with Japanese as a second or other language.
