Book Learning to Drive on the Internet Superhighway

Download or read book Learning to Drive on the Internet Superhighway written by Harry Jordon and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-08-30 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Love and peace driven by cross-cultural weddings and music like those of the Beatles and Pink Floyd of the ’60s is being forgotten in the Twitter and Facebook era of today. Good habits created through wisdom passed down by elders and extended families over breakfast and dinner are being taken over by bad habits being learned on the internet over those same meals. Special occasions like the 2020 Valentine’s Day was devoted to such extreme internet posts from White House to university students, instead of, say, addressing coronavirus or climate change that one can only wonder what medicine these people take and what is happening within their households and marriages today. The World Wide Web has become like the Wild West of western books. An equivalent of the coronavirus is also being spread through the internet. Besides affecting our mental health, it is also affecting our planet. What’s remarkable is not how much pollution went down during the pandemic lockdown, but how little. Other factors impacting climate change besides carbon emissions have been discussed in this book. Simulation involving additional households willing to do clinical-trial studies on a larger scale will be needed for the next phase. Diet, air-conditioning, and the internet may be the most neglected factors as climate change modelers attempt to figure out why events that were supposed to happen eighty years from 2008 are happening today. Besides improving health and wealth of individuals, organizations, and countries, the home-wellness program provided here can help achieve universal health-care coverage for a fraction of what it would cost today. It will also help reduce deficits and extend our planet’s life by another one hundred years. Drawing on Einstein’s famous e = mc2 equation, the book demonstrates how increase in economic stimulus (c2) is reducing the life (m) of our planet. Scientists and climate change experts are now saying the planet may have only twenty-five years remaining before it becomes uninhabitable. New cross-country models for driving change need. This can be done using 3P simplification for currency tracing for medical tourism. It needs to prevent another pandemic from happening again. It needs to be scalable for an Interstellar movie-type solution since our planet is dying.

Book The Information Superhighway and Private Households

Download or read book The Information Superhighway and Private Households written by Walter Brenner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wolfgang Glatthaar International Business Machines (IBM), Gennany The rapid developments in infonnation technology (IT) will continue through the coming years. New application areas will be added. Whereas the use of infonnation technology in the past decade has been concentrated primarily on business and public administration, in future the suppliers of infonnation technology will develop an increasing number of applications for the private household (see fig. 1). Traditional perspective: New perspective: 'IT-solutions for the "IT-solutions for the company' private household" ~ . . . . . . \ . . . . . . . . . . . . \ . . . . . . . . . . . . \ . . . . . . . . . . . . \ . . . . . . . . . . . . \ . . . . . . . . . . . . \ \ \ \ \ Fig. 1. New perspective on information technology This development has already generated considerable market dynamics. Latest forecasts for the USA suggest that by 1996 at the latest the private household will present greater sales potential for home computers than business and public administration. VI Preface Up to now the use of infonnation technology in the private household has not been regarded as highly significant by either business or science, even though PCs have become widespread in the private sphere. In the ESPRIT framework there have been individual projects dealing with home networks, and in a number of Asian and European countries, as well as America, experiments with interactive television are taking place. Internet and commercial online services are experiencing rapid growth. This application area for infonnation technology in the private household, which is generating increasing business attention, must also be the subject of appropriate research activities.

Book Highway of Dreams

Download or read book Highway of Dreams written by A. Michael Noll and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important volume reviews the history of the telecommunication superhighway pointing out its beginnings in the interactive TV and broadband highway of the wired cities more than two decades ago. It explains the technological uncertainties of the superhighway and many of its futuristic services, and also gives an understandable review of the technological principles behind today's modern telecommunication networks and systems. Recognizing that technology is only one factor in shaping the future, the author, a well-recognized telecommunications expert, analyzes the financial, policy, business, and consumer issues that undermine the superhighway. The book concludes by showing that today's switched telephone network and CATV systems already form a telecommunication superhighway carrying voice, data, image, and video communication for a wide variety of services that enable us to stay in contact with anyone anywhere on our planet. Highway of Dreams is written clearly with understandable explanations for nonspecialists. It challenges the technological utopia offered by the promoters of the superhighway and suggests that consumer needs, finance, corporate culture, and policy often have far greater impact on the future than technology alone.

Download or read book Super Highway written by Chris Parry and published by Elliott & Thompson. This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parry argues that in the second decade of the 21st century, the sea is set to reclaim its status as the world's preeminent strategic medium. Almost everything that travels virtually between continents and states on the Internet moves, in reality, across, under or over the sea. Parry makes the case that the next decade will witness a scramble for the sea, involving competition for oceanic resources and the attempted political and economic colonization of large tracts of what have, until now, been considered international waters and shipping routes. Can the UK, with its seafaring history, reclaim the waves?

Book excerpt: Discover the twists and turns of one of America’s great infrastructure projects with this “engrossing history of the creation of the U.S. interstate system” (Los Angeles Times). It’s become a part of the landscape that we take for granted, the site of rumbling eighteen-wheelers and roadside rest stops, a familiar route for commuters and vacationing families. But during the twentieth century, the interstate highway system dramatically changed the face of our nation. These interconnected roads—over 47,000 miles of them—are man-made wonders, economic pipelines, agents of sprawl, uniquely American symbols of escape and freedom, and an unrivaled public works accomplishment. Though officially named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower, this network of roadways has origins that reach all the way back to the World War I era, and The Big Roads—“the first thorough history of the expressway system” (The Washington Post)—tells the full story of how they came to be. From the speed demon who inspired a primitive web of dirt auto trails to the largely forgotten technocrats who planned the system years before Ike reached the White House to the city dwellers who resisted the concrete juggernaut when it bore down on their neighborhoods, this book reveals both the massive scale of this government engineering project, and the individual lives that have been transformed by it. A fast-paced history filled with fascinating detours, “the book is a road geek’s treasure—and everyone who travels the highways ought to know these stories” (Kirkus Reviews).

Book What Good Is God

    Book Details:
  • Author : Philip Yancey
  • Publisher : FaithWords
  • Release : 2011-01-26
  • ISBN : 0892968397
  • Pages : 215 pages

Download or read book What Good Is God written by Philip Yancey and published by FaithWords. This book was released on 2011-01-26 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Journalist and spiritual seeker Philip Yancey has always struggled with the most basic questions of the Christian faith. The question he tackles in What Good Is God? concerns the practical value of belief in God. His search for the answer to this question took him to some amazing settings around the world: Mumbai, India when the firing started during the terrorist attacks; at the motel where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated; on the Virginia Tech campus soon after the massacre; an AA convention; and even to a conference for women in prostitution. At each of the ten places he visited, his preparation for the visit and exactly what he said to the people he met each provided evidence that faith really does work when what we believe is severely tested. What Good Is God? tells the story of Philip's journey -- the background, the preparation, the presentations themselves. Here is a story of grace for armchair travelers, spiritual seekers, and those in desperate need of assurance that their faith really matters.
