Download or read book De Bello Lemures Or The Roman War Against the Zombies of Armorica written by Lucius Artorius Castus and published by Historic Classics. This book was released on 2009-10-24 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roman legionaries battle zombies raised from the grave by an ancient Druidic curse. A recovered Latin text tells the story of a struggle between Roman legionaries and the undead in 185 AD. Lucius Artorius Castus leads an expedition to Gaul to defeat a rebellion against the rule of the Emperor Commodus - and gets more than he bargained for when his enemies rise from the dead to fight again. The power of the zombie horde is amplified by the chaos of Ancient Rome's competing religions and superstitions, and the terror the undead bring in their wake foreshadows the incipient medieval darkness already creeping into the world at the end of Rome's Antonine age. Richly annotated, this mashup of survival horror and alternate history takes the reader on a bracing journey into one of ancient Rome's dark corners.

For Charlotte Holloway, the world ended twice. The first was when her childhood crush, Dean, fell in love—with her older sister. The second was when the Crimson, a curse spread through eye contact, turned the majority of humanity into flesh-eating monsters. Neither end of the world changed Charlotte. She’s still in the shadows of her siblings. Her popular older sister, Harlow, now commands forces of survivors. And her talented younger sister, Vanessa, is the Chosen One—who, legend has it, can end the curse. When their settlement is raided by those seeking the Chosen One, Charlotte makes a reckless decision to save Vanessa: she takes her place as prisoner. The word spreads across the seven seas—the Chosen One has been found. But when Dean’s life is threatened and a resistance looms on the horizon, the lie keeping Charlotte alive begins to unravel. She’ll have to break free, forge new bonds, and choose her own destiny if she has any hope of saving her sisters, her love, and maybe even the world. Download or read book Hearts at Stake written by G.L. Giles and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2010-09-24 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the number of my adult short stories, songs and poems has grown considerably (many of them have been previously published in magazines, etc.), I decided it was high time to gather many of them together into an anthology that has a cohesiveness about it of oftentimes exposing the truth of the human heart through a fictional, or fictionalized, setting, characters, etc. Hence, the title. Add to that, Ive included two articles: one on even more marketing advice, and the other about how I was able to successfully lose weight as a vegetarian. Plus, there are other surprises included within that youll just have to discover for yourself. Praise for the Writing of G.L. Giles: I will begin by saying that one of the best things about Giles writing is that she defies tradition and she expresses herself in whatever form or style she wishes. I feel that she creates her own rules, regarding her writing, and I respect the hell out of that. I enjoy her live and let live policy, which constantly shines through her writing, and I think she is one of the most honest and open writers that I have read. She is very comfortable with whom she is and that peace about her gives her words great power. Peter Syslo for Infernal Dreams http://www.infernaldreams.net/mindyourpsandqs.html
Download or read book Undead Apocalyse written by Stacey Abbott and published by Edinburgh University Press. This book was released on 2016-09-08 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores the intersection of the vampire and zombie with 21st Century dystopian and post-apocalyptic cinemaTwenty-first century film and television is overwhelmed with images of the undead. Vampires and zombies have often been seen as oppositional: one alluring, the other repellant; one seductive, the other infectious. With case studies of films like I Am Legend and 28 Days Later, as well as TV programmes like Angel and The Walking Dead, this book challenges these popular assumptions and reveals the increasing interconnection of undead genres. Exploring how the figure of the vampire has been infused with the language of science, disease and apocalypse, while the zombie text has increasingly been influenced by the trope of the areluctant vampire, Stacey Abbott shows how both archetypes are actually two sides of the same undead coin. When considered together they present a dystopian, sometimes apocalyptic, vision of twenty-first century existence.Key featuresRather than seeing them as separate or oppositional, this book explores the intersection and dialogue between the vampire and zombie across film and televisionMuch contemporary scholarship on the vampire focuses on Dark Romance, while this book explores the more horror-based end of the genreOffers a detailed discussion of the development of zombie televisionProvides a detailed examination of Richard Mathesons I Am Legend, including the novel, the script, the adaptations and the BBFCs response to Mathesons script
