Nos solides ont été testés pour deux réactions : 1) l'oxydation et décomposition d'un antibiotique, l'amoxyciline ou AMX très utilisée en médecine humaine comme en médecine vétérinaire. Cet antibiotique est peu décomposé dans les organismes vivants et des traces en ont été détectées à proximité d'hôpitaux, 2) leur activité bactéricide et antimicrobienne, vis à vis de la bactérie Staphylococcus Epidermidis qui peut causer des problèmes cutanés ou urinaires. Les deux domaines appliqués ont été abordés avec des nanoparticules de ferrite de zinc de degré de cristallinité, de tailles et de formes différentes qui ont été préparées par trois techniques: 1) précipitation à partir de nitrates métalliques et traitements thermiques, 2) réplication (2S) dans les pores de silices de type SBA-15, 3) méthode hydrothermale avec ou sans graphite ayant subi un traitement de sonication. Tous nos solides sont des mélanges de plusieurs phases. Les meilleurs catalyseurs pour l'activité antimicrobienne et pour la décomposition de l'AMX sont obtenus par des méthodes hydrothermales.
