Book Zion s Works Vol 15

Download or read book Zion s Works Vol 15 written by John Ward and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-11 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Zion's Works, Vol. 15: New Light on the Bible, From the Coming of Shiloh, the Spirit of Truth, 1828-1837 The Chapel is very well attended, and the Cause upon the whole, is in a flourishing state. There were a few that had some strange and un warrantable expectations, that something wonderful would take place with me after my illness, whether it was that they thought of seeing my body changed into some wonderful form or appearance, no one knows; but they expressed themselves much disappointed that something did not take place, for it does appear that they did not expect to see me the same person. But poor dear people, I feel sorry for their weakness, and glad to find that now, by a little explanation and conversation on these points, their thoughts are turned into a more Spiritual and Scriptural channel. How are you now at Nottingham? Do the Friends come to Meeting well, since we left? We hope that we shall hear that they all obey in our absence, even as when we are present; for if people come merely when it suits them individually, they give proof that they have not yet overcome self. Ought we not to seek the honour and glory of God, and that His Cause should be established on the earth? Yes, we profess to be lovers of Him; then let our works declare it, for the Word saith, 'when I come, I will not know the speech of him that is puffed-up, but the power.' Book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 15

Download or read book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 15 written by Spurgeon, Charles H. and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-02-25 with total page 1046 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 15 Sermons 848-907 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to republish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: divdivThis timely book tells the fascinating story of how Zionists colonizers planned and established nearly 700 agricultural settlements, towns, and cities from the 1880s to the present. This extraordinary activity of planners, architects, social scientists, military personnel, politicians, and settlers is inextricably linked to multiple contexts: Jewish and Zionist history, the Arab/Jewish conflict, and the diffusion of European ideas to non-European worlds. S. Ilan Troen demonstrates how professionals and settlers continually innovated plans for both rural and urban frontiers in response to the competing demands of social and political ideologies and the need to achieve productivity, economic independence, and security in a hostile environment. In the 1930s, security became the primary challenge, shaping and even distorting patterns of growth. Not until the 1993 Oslo Accords, with prospects of compromise and accommodation, did planners again imagine Israel as a normal state, developing like other modern societies. Troen concludes that if Palestinian Arabs become reconciled to a Jewish state, Israel will reassign priority to the social and economic development of the country and region. /DIV/DIV

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Zion's Landmark, Vol. 72: November 15, 1938 Now: All true believers have not so learned Christ. This is the voice of a stranger and they dare not fol low it. The Holy Ghost hath shown them, that they have not accepted or chosen the Lord, but the Lord hath chosen and accepted them, and this choice was made in Christ Jesus before the world began. All true believers are born into the kingdom of God's dear Son. In this kingdom they breathe a new atmos phere, and this atmosphere is called prayer; it is their native air and their vital breath. In this realm they learn, that in their flesh dwells no good thing. They are poor in spirit and have nothing to give in ex change for this soul. The Spirit hath also taught them, that salva tion is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. V. VII.) Zion remarks in letter to C. B., jun., of July I 5, year io, Vol. VI. P. 334, I have received another long letter from Miss Clissold, in which she exerts all her abilities and theoretical powers to [mat me off that ground which God has placed me on. The in dividuality is the gangrene - it cannot be borne! I have answered her in about forty folio pages, and have taken up all her objections and replied to them by Serzjoture and experience. I think you will say it is the best, most explicit, and brief in the answers, of any writing that has gone from my pen, and I hope it will go in print very soon. I admire the Lady's boldness, and I feel much obliged to her for giving me work, not that I was out qf a job, but answers to such strong reasom'ngs as hers and Mr Greave's will be very instructive to our friends, and will be for the public good.'
