Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Social Trinitarians have not been shy about positing community as the chief ontological category for Trinitarian discourse. As beneficial as this is, social Trinitarians have typically been less helpful in advocating the sort of human community for the Trinitarian analogy that most people would probably find desirable. To use the example of a marriage, one has often been forced to choose between a fully egalitarian view, where the spouses supposedly have no differences from each other, and a hierarchical view where a husband exercises a unilateral and oppressive power over his wife. This book advocates a third alternative for the sort of community present in the Trinity. Just as genuine teamwork is generally desirable in various human communities, the divine persons have a mutual hierarchy relationship with each other. Here each divine person has a unique hierarchy over the others, and yet each uses this hierarchy to serve the others in a dignified way. Recognizing this mutual hierarchy of the divine persons fosters a view of the Trinity that is maximally social, in keeping with the name “social Trinitarianism.” In proceeding thus, the book attempts to, in a unique way, show the harmony between systematic theology, exegesis, and practice.

Download or read book Take Courage written by Mark A. Pierson and published by New Reformation Publications. This book was released on 2021-03-23 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Take Courage is a collection of essays, written by pastors and professors, about the care and cure of souls in the 21st century. As spiritual physicians, pastors are called to diagnose and treat all those suffering with the disease of sin. This noble task requires much from these undershepherds who are placed over Christ's flock. Yet the Good Shepherd himself has provided the effective tools of this healing art: the life-giving word and sacraments. Pastors, then, specialize in applying the medicine of forgiveness and bringing comfort to broken consciences. Collectively, these essays teach and expound upon this theme. This helpful book honors the 45 years of faithful service given by one such undershepherd, Harold L. Senkbeil. As a pastor, seminary professor, author, speaker, husband, father, and the executive director of DOXOLOGY, Senkbeil has consistently provided competent treatment for both laity and pastors by distributing the forgiveness won by Jesus on the cross.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boris Jeremenko vaguely remembers April 10, 1951—the day his ship arrived in New York Harbor from a refugee camp in Atmont, Austria. After his parents announced that the family had docked in America, six-year-old Boris traveled with his twin sister and parents to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to begin a new life. In a fascinating memoir accompanied by historical photographs, Boris leads others into his memories of days gone by as he reflects on his inspiring journey through life, filled with highs and lows and his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. While sharing childhood challenges that included initial language barriers as a kindergartener and his father’s alcoholism, Boris also offers a glimpse into happy moments like riding in his beloved go-kart, attending Boy Scout camp, and operating a ham radio. As he reveals how his journey eventually led him to marry, have children, and begin a career in law enforcement that would ultimately take him into the political arena, Boris reminds all of us of the power of perseverance, prayer, and a belief in God’s plan. Running the Race One Day at a Time is the true story of an Austrian immigrant’s life experiences after he journeyed to America with his family to begin a new chapter.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Torgerson begins by discussing God's transcendence and immanence and showing how church architecture has traditionally interpreted these key concepts. He then traces the theological roots of immanence's priority from liberal theology and liturgical innovation to modern architecture. Next, Torgerson illustrates this new architecture of immanence through particular practitioners, focusing especially on the work of theologically savvy architect Edward Anders Sövik. Finally, he addresses the future of church architecture as congregations are buffeted by the twin forces of liturgical change and postmodernism.
