Book Advanced Spray Deposited Zinc Oxide Thin Films

Download or read book Advanced Spray Deposited Zinc Oxide Thin Films written by Prashant S. Shewale and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-03-17 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the years, the spray pyrolysis method has been used to deposit thin films of metal oxides and chalcogenide semiconductors. It is well known that the substrate temperature is the central parameter in spray pyrolysis that determines the physical and chemical properties of the deposits. However, somewhat high growth temperatures applied during the spray pyrolysis derived synthesis of metal oxide thin films may limit the surface-to-volume ratio requisite for their reasonable gas sensing characteristics. Thus, there is a strong drive to modify the spray pyrolysis technique in terms of growth temperature by retaining its inherent advantages. The present book is focussed on the effort to modify the conventional spray pyrolysis technique into novel route of advanced spray pyrolysis to synthesize the undoped and doped ZnO nanocrystalline thin films at relatively low substrate temperature and investigation of the effects of various preparative parameters and dopant incorporations, on the film properties such as crystallinity, surface morphology, the electrical and hydrogen sulphide (H2S) gas sensing properties.

Book Amorphous and Liquid Semiconductors

Download or read book Amorphous and Liquid Semiconductors written by J. Tauc and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solid state physics after solving so successfully many fundamental problems in perfect or slightly imperfect crystals, tried in recent years to attack problems associated with large disorder with the aim to understand the consequences of the lack of the long-range order. Semiconductors are much more changed by disorder than metals or insulators, and appear to be the most suitable materials for fundamental work. Considerable exploratory work on amorphous and liquid semiconductors was done by the Leningrad School since the early fifties. In recent years, much research in several countries was directed to deepen the understanding of the structural, electronic, optical, vibrational, magnetic and other proper ties of these materials and to possibly approach the present level of under standing of crystalline semiconductors. This effort was stimulated not only by purely scientific interest but also by the possibility of new applications from which memory devices in the general sense are perhaps the most challenging. The research met with serious difficulties which are absent in crystals.

Book Low Temperature Polymeric Precursor Derived Zinc Oxide Thin Films

Download or read book Low Temperature Polymeric Precursor Derived Zinc Oxide Thin Films written by Uma Choppali and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a versatile environmentally benign II-VI direct wide band gap semiconductor with several technologically plausible applications such as transparent conducting oxide in flat panel and flexible displays. Hence, ZnO thin films have to be processed below the glass transition temperatures of polymeric substrates used in flexible displays. ZnO thin films were synthesized via aqueous polymeric precursor process by different metallic salt routes using ethylene glycol, glycerol, citric acid, and ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) as chelating agents. ZnO thin films, derived from ethylene glycol based polymeric precursor, exhibit flower-like morphology whereas thin films derived of other precursors illustrate crack free nanocrystalline films. ZnO thin films on sapphire substrates show an increase in preferential orientation along the (002) plane with increase in annealing temperature. The polymeric precursors have also been used in fabricating maskless patterned ZnO thin films in a single step using the commercial Maskless Mesoscale Materials Deposition (M3D(TM)) system.

Book Semiconductor Materials by Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis and Their Application in Electronic Devices

Download or read book Semiconductor Materials by Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis and Their Application in Electronic Devices written by Miguel Domínguez and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ultrasonic spray pyrolysis is a deposition technique that enables a fine mist of the precursor solution in order to deposit higher-density thin films. This characteristic makes of great potential the use of ultrasonically spray-deposited semiconductors films for low-cost, transparent, flexible and large-area applications. In this chapter, low-temperature deposition and characterization of ultrasonically spray-deposited zinc oxide (ZnO) films are presented. The ZnO films deposited by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis at 200°C were characterized by optical transmittance, photoluminescence spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The study of low-temperature annealing of ZnO films is also presented. Moreover, the characterization of aluminum-doped ZnO films deposited by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis at 200°C is presented. Finally, applications of these ultrasonic spray-deposited films in electronic devices are presented.
