This book was released on 2018-09-18 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zeus. What a powerful name for a powerful cat. Just his name invokes a bit of fear and commands respect. But our Zeus was not a cat who demanded respect; he was our gentle giant. He was the chuffiest tiger at Big Cat Rescue. He loved to chuff to his caretakers and greet them. Sometimes the chuffs were a sense of reassurance for a massive cat who could barely see. Through human greed, his abuse and neglect via the 'pay to play' scheme, camera flashes destroyed his eyesight while he should have still been with his mama nursing, getting the delicate balance of nutrients his tiny body needed, yet was denied. When he became too big to safely handle, he was speed bred with his mother to create white tigers. Born September 1, 1996, he was 3 months younger than my youngest son. I felt a kinship with that. His liberation to Big Cat Rescue on May 28, 2014 was a huge day for him. He was with his daughter/sister Keisha for some time, until it became clear that her rambunctiousness was too much for a cat who couldn't see well, and they were separated, but still near each other. Then he was moved farther away from Keisha to an area near Joseph Lion, in complete shade where it was more 'soothing' for our gentle giant. He ended up having to have his luxated lens removed because it was bulging, and then he affectionately became our "Pirate Zeus". Zeus told us it was time to go and on June 5, 2018 it was clear. No more Zeus parties; no more cheering for the only cat that liked clapping and cheering to get his food/treats. Three months shy of being 22. His last 4 years saw unconditional love, affection, respect and devotion by a group of Angels on Earth who didn't look after him for money - they don't get paid - but rather for a sense of desire to help those who didn't ask for their previous existence prior to their arrival at Big Cat Rescue. Zeus. No more chuffs. I miss you, big boy! Forever loved!! Forever FREE!!

Download or read book Black Michael s Search for a True God written by Michael Oscar McKee and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2020-04-16 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is my first book. I went into great detail about my search for God. I related some of the motivations in my life and suggested the influence my parent’s lives might have had on my search for God, instead of accepting what was handed to me through my church and school. Instead of relying on my memory, I quoted from corroborating texts, and noting where I differed with the presented material.

Download or read book The Shortest Leap written by A. L. Van Den Herik and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2020-04-28 with total page 711 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All worldviews require a leap of faith, but not all leaps of faith are the same. A “one-stop shop” for the rational evidence for Christianity, The Shortest Leap presents the scientific, historical, biblical, and explanatory underpinnings of the Christian faith, demonstrating that faith in Jesus requires the shortest leap. In addition to providing proactive evidence for Christianity, The Shortest Leap responds to the numerous shots fired at biblical Christianity by atheists, critics of Christianity, and other skeptics. The Shortest Leap answers a wide range of difficult questions, including: • Is the Bible consistent with the findings of cutting edge, secular science? • Was there really a man named Jesus, or is he just a myth? • And even if he did exist, aren’t the events of Jesus’ life and his teachings as described in the New Testament merely fabrications of the earliest Christians? • Does the historical evidence support the claim that Jesus rose from the dead? • To understand who Jesus really was, why shouldn’t we consider other documents outside the Bible, such as the Gnostic gospels? • Why were some documents excluded from the New Testament? • Did Jesus really claim to be God, or did the earliest Christians just want to believe that? • Is the Old Testament still relevant? Does it really point to Jesus hundreds to thousands of years before he lived? • How does the salvation by grace of Christianity differ from the salvation by works of all other religions? • Why can’t I just believe in the Jesus that I like the best? • How can I be sure I have eternal life?

Book Zeus Grants Stupid Wishes

Download or read book Zeus Grants Stupid Wishes written by Cory O'Brien and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2013-03-05 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the creator of Myths Retold comes a hilarious collection of Greek, Norse, Chinese and even Sumerian myths retold in their purest, bawdiest forms! All our lives, we’ve been fed watered-down, PC versions of the classic myths. In reality, mythology is more screwed up than a schizophrenic shaman doing hits of unidentified…wait, it all makes sense now. In Zeus Grants Stupid Wishes, Cory O’Brien, creator of Myths RETOLD!, sets the stories straight. These are rude, crude, totally sacred texts told the way they were meant to be told: loudly, and with lots of four-letter words. Did you know? Cronus liked to eat babies. Narcissus probably should have just learned to masturbate. Odin got construction discounts with bestiality. Isis had bad taste in jewelry. Ganesh was the very definition of an unplanned pregnancy. And Abraham was totally cool about stabbing his kid in the face. Still skeptical? Here are a few more gems to consider: • Zeus once stuffed an unborn fetus inside his thigh to save its life after he exploded its mother by being too good in bed. • The entire Egyptian universe was saved because Sekhmet just got too hammered to keep murdering everyone. • The Hindu universe is run by a married couple who only stop murdering in order to throw sweet dance parties…on the corpses of their enemies. • The Norse goddess Freyja once consented to a four-dwarf gangbang in exchange for one shiny necklace. And there’s more dysfunctional goodness where that came from.

Book excerpt: A highly readable and beautifully illustrated re-telling of the most famous stories from Greek mythology. The Greek Myths contains some of the most thrilling, romantic, and unforgettable stories in all human history. From Achilles rampant on the fields of Troy, to the gods at sport on Mount Olympus; from Icarus flying too close to the sun, to the superhuman feats of Heracles, Theseus, and the wily Odysseus, these timeless tales exert an eternal fascination and inspiration that have endured for millennia and influenced cultures from ancient to modern. Beginning at the dawn of human civilization, when the Titan Prometheus stole fire from Zeus and offered mankind hope, the reader is immediately immersed in the majestic, magical, and mythical world of the Greek gods and heroes. As the tales unfold, renowned classicist Robin Waterfield, joined by his wife, writer Kathryn Waterfield, creates a sweeping panorama of the romance, intrigues, heroism, humour, sensuality, and brutality of the Greek myths and legends. The terrible curse that plagued the royal houses of Mycenae and Thebes, Jason and the golden fleece, Perseus and the dread Gorgon, the wooden horse and the sack of Troy--these amazing stories have influenced art and literature from the Iron Age to the present day. And far from being just a treasure trove of amazing tales, The Greek Myths is a catalogue of Greek myth in art through the ages, and a notable work of literature in its own right.
