Book Volume II Low Enthalpy Geothermal Energy

Download or read book Volume II Low Enthalpy Geothermal Energy written by Rajandrea Sethi and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Low enthalpy geothermal energy has a great potential to reduce the climate impact of building heating and cooling systems. The use of this renewable energy source involves a number of scientific disciplines including energy engineering, heat transfer, geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, and economics. Low enthalpy geothermal energy, i.e., the underground heat available at temperatures below 90°C, has great potential in terms of reducing the climate impact of heating and cooling buildings. It can also be employed for other thermal uses, such as industrial processes, road de-icing, and bathing. The Special Issue “Volume II: Low Enthalpy Geothermal Energy” includes seven articles that discuss the topic from the following points of view: mapping of shallow geothermal potential, recent developments for enhancing the performance of borehole heat exchangers, exploitation of asphalt-covered surfaces for heating, measurement of the thermal conductivity of rocks and sediments, and performance monitoring of closed-loop and open-loop low enthalpy geothermal systems.

Book Integral Transformations Operational Calculus and Their Applications

Download or read book Integral Transformations Operational Calculus and Their Applications written by Hari Mohan Srivastava and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-01-20 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume consists of a collection of 14 accepted submissions (including several invited feature articles) to the Special Issue of MDPI's journal Symmetry on the general subject area of integral transformations, operational calculus and their applications from many different parts around the world. The main objective of the Special Issue was to gather review, expository, and original research articles dealing with the state-of-the-art advances in integral transformations and operational calculus as well as their multidisciplinary applications, together with some relevance to the aspect of symmetry. Various families of fractional-order integrals and derivatives have been found to be remarkably important and fruitful, mainly due to their demonstrated applications in numerous diverse and widespread areas of mathematical, physical, chemical, engineering, and statistical sciences. Many of these fractional-order operators provide potentially useful tools for solving ordinary and partial differential equations, as well as integral, differintegral, and integro-differential equations; fractional-calculus analogues and extensions of each of these equations; and various other problems involving special functions of mathematical physics and applied mathematics, as well as their extensions and generalizations in one or more variables.

Book Trends In Continuum Physics Trecop 98 Proceedings Of The International Sym

Download or read book Trends In Continuum Physics Trecop 98 Proceedings Of The International Sym written by Maruszewski Bogdan T and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1999-03-12 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A system is loosely defined as complex if it is composed of a large number of elements, interacting with each other, and the emergent global dynamics is qualitatively different from the dynamics of each one of the parts. The global dynamics may be either ordered or chaotic and among the most interesting emergent global properties are those of learning and adaptation.Complex systems, in the above sense, appear in many fields ranging from physics and technology to life and social sciences. Research in complex systems involves therefore a wide range of topics, studied in seemingly disparate fields. This calls for some effort to develop general principles and a common language so that tools developed in one field may be put to use in other fields.By collecting a few surveys of complex systems studies in physics and in technology and emphasizing their common mechanisms and interrelationships, this book attempts to contribute to the development of a common language in the sciences of complexity.Topics covered include: Integrated design in aeronautics; time and space decomposition of complex structures; complexity in electrical power networks; earthquake behaviour of structures; signal processing; fiability; use of unstable orbits in astrodynamics; dynamics of coupled oscillators; fuzziness; dark and bright solitons; neural networks; chaos and parametric perturbations; chaotic fluid dynamics; early vision and image restoration; stochastic processes in automated production lines.
