Download or read book Seen Heard Understood written by Lainie Liberti and published by Lainie Liberti. This book was released on 2023-06-01 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In normal times, adolescence is not easy. Changes in the external world can amplify internal changes and make it more difficult for teens to cope, let alone thrive. During adolescence, parents often struggle to remain connected with their teens. Lainie Liberti helps parents understand their teen's developmental stages and behaviors in an easy to follow format through stories, research, applied psychology and science-backed tools. Prepared with the right tools, parents can support their teens on a journey towards greater mental health. Throughout this inspirational book, you'll explore a new conceptual framework for parenting which will transform your relationships. Be prepared to do the uncomfortable work required in order to support your teen through some of the biggest mental health challenges our generation has ever experienced. In addition to providing a set of powerful tools, this book will offer a roadmap to learning: • Common teen myths • Healing traumas • Partnership parenting • Mentorship benefits • Teen brain basics Are you ready? "Do you feel there must be a better way to live with your teenager, but don't know how to start? This book could be just what you need. A powerful call to parents to look directly at young people, listen to where they are coming from and support them to find the life they want to lead. Combining personal experience, neuroscientific research and practical tools, Lainie guides you towards a different way of being with your teen, moving from coercion and manipulation to partnership and connection." ~Dr. Naomi Fisher, Clinical Psychologist and Author of Changing Our Minds: How Children Can Take Control of their Own Learning “Finally.. a book that sees and understands the unique needs of teenagers without all the negative stereotypes. This book is a gem.” ~Christiane Northrup, M.D., New York Times best-selling author of Goddesses Never Age, The Wisdom of Menopause, and Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom "Lainie Liberti provides relief from the fear-based need to control your teen, allowing partnership to replace domination. With a validating voice, she provides tools to heal yourself, such that you don’t have to react to your teen from your pain, but respond from your love." ~Naomi Aldort, Author of Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves; Transforming Parent-Child Relationship from Reaction and Struggle to Freedom, Power and Joy “As a mom of two teenagers, and a longtime admirer of Lainie Liberti’s work, I value her insights on prioritizing connection over coercion in our parenting approach. Seen, Heard & Understood provides the tools and inspiration to build a powerful, peaceful partnership with our teens.” ~Kerry McDonald, Author of Unschooled: Raising Curious, Well-Educated Children Outside the Conventional Classroom “This book is a major contribution to unschooling and homeschooling families and to the movement for reimagining education. It names the proverbial elephant in the room. Unless we as parents heal our own intergenerational trauma and face our fears and anxieties, we risk passing these to our children. Born out of many years of hands-on experience, this book offers very practical tools for how we can enter into partnership parenting and build a genuine learning culture with our teens centered around freedom and accountability. It is a powerful post-Covid roadmap for navigating the inner world of our teens and ourselves as adults. Lainie Liberti has gifted us with the parent’s liberation handbook for our times. ~Manish Jain, Co-Founder of Swaraj University, Learning Societies Network and The Peoples’ Institute for Rethinking Education

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A masterfully updated edition of The F-Word which renders a comprehensive portrait of English's most notorious and colorful word. No word has generated more uses, more creative euphemisms, and more strong opinions than fuck. Jesse Sheidlower's historical dictionary, now in print for over 25 years, charts the uses of fuck and its many permutations, from absofuckinglutely to zipless fuck. It illustrates every sense of every entry with quotations, from the earliest that can be found to a recent example, showing exactly how the word has been used throughout history. This new edition is not just a minor update but a comprehensive revision of Sheidlower's groundbreaking text for the internet age. Major new discoveries push back the known history of fuck by almost two hundred years. Sheidlower also considers rapidly changing attitudes towards the use of fuck in public discourse. The volume includes over 1,000 new quotations; over 100 antedatings (earlier examples of existing entries, improving our understanding of the word's development); and many dozens of new entries, including high-profile recent uses such as AF 'as fuck', fuckboi, and the group of expressions of the sort to give no fucks or zero fucks given.

Book Astrophysics In The Xxi Century With Compact Stars

Download or read book Astrophysics In The Xxi Century With Compact Stars written by Cesar Augusto Zen Vasconcellos and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2022-10-25 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are reasons to believe the 21st century will be the best ever for astrophysics: the James Webb Space Telescope will extend nearly twenty times the present observational limit of visible light; neutrino massiveness opens a new window for exploration on dark energy and dark matter physics and is expected to provide insights into the fate of the Universe; the Higgs boson may allow for an understanding of the weakness of gravity; gravitational waves produced at the birth of the Universe and by compact stellar objects (supermassive black holes, black hole/neutron star mergers, gamma-ray bursts, white dwarf inspirals) have unveiled a new area of astronomy. Against this background, compact stars, the theme of this volume, present unique astrophysical laboratories for probing the fabric of space-time and the building blocks of matter and their interactions at physical regimes not attainable in terrestrial laboratories.

Book RUNX Proteins in Development and Cancer

Download or read book RUNX Proteins in Development and Cancer written by Yoram Groner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-15 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides the reader with an overview of the diverse functions of the RUNX family of genes. As highlighted in the introduction and several of the 29 chapters, humans and other mammals have three RUNX genes that are known to play specific roles in blood, bone and neuronal development. However, their evolutionary history has recently been traced back to unicellular organisms and their involvement in many well-known signaling pathways (Wnt, TGFb, Notch, Hippo) is indicative of a more general function in cell biology. Their documented roles in cell fate decisions include control of proliferation, differentiation, survival, senescence and autophagy. The pleiotropic effects of RUNX in development are mirrored in cancer, where RUNX genes can function as oncogenes that collaborate strongly with Myc family oncogenes or as tumour suppressor genes. In the latter role, they display hallmarks of both ‘gatekeepers’ that modulate p53 responses and ‘caretakers’ that protect the genome from DNA damage. Several chapters focus on the importance of these genes in leukemia research, where RUNX1 and CBFB are frequently affected by chromosomal translocations that generate fusion oncoproteins, while recent studies suggest wider roles for RUNX modulation in solid cancers. Moreover, RUNX genes are intimately involved in the development and regulation of the immune system, while emerging evidence suggests a role in innate immunity to infectious agents, including HIV. At the biochemical level, the RUNX family can serve as activators or repressors of transcription and as stable mediators of epigenetic memory through mitosis. Not surprisingly, RUNX activity is controlled at multiple levels, this includes miRNAs and a plethora of post-translational modifications. Several chapters highlight the interplay between the three mammalian RUNX genes, where cross-talk and partial functional redundancies are evident. Finally, structural analysis of the RUNX/CBFB interaction has led to the development of small molecule inhibitors that provide exciting new tools to decipher the roles of RUNX in development and as targets for therapy. This volume provides a compendium and reference source that will be of broad interest to cancer researchers, developmental biologists and immunologists.
