Book excerpt: In the pursuit of vengeance, I discovered the need for something far more profound—love. Zarrus's harrowing three-year confinement on the desolate Planet Prismn was orchestrated by his treacherous step-sister, Zyle. Drugged, bound, and bribed, he was shipped away alongside a cargo of convicted convicts, all part of Zyle's ruthless scheme to seize his estate. Now free from the prison fortress, Zarrus roams the planet's unforgiving surface, locked in a constant battle for survival, nursing his desire for revenge, and seeking an escape from this living nightmare. A glimmer of hope emerges when he witnesses a struggling Taraquet shuttle crash-landing in the distance. But what he discovers within that wreckage will not only alter the course of his destiny but also thrust him deeper into the perilous unknown. Meanwhile, Nina yearns for redemption and a fresh start. Having served her five-year sentence, she emerges from confinement with a newfound longing—for love, family, and a brighter future. As she steps out into the world on her release day, she hopes that her prayers for a better life will finally be answered. Eager to put her past behind her, she embarks on a hitchhiking journey, determined to leave her past far behind. Little did she expect to be picked up by beings not of this world. Awakening in a place that makes her former penitentiary seem like a theme park, she can't help but question the cosmic forces at play. Why did fate lead her to this bewildering and unforgiving realm? As Nina and Zarrus' worlds collide, their shared journey becomes a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of love in the most unexpected of places.

It took ten long years of roaming the planets of the Perinqual Galaxy, wheeling and dealing in order to save enough money to buy their own plot of land, to build their dream – an exotic creature racing circuit. But they can’t escape their traumatic past which scarred them deeply, and now they unleash their pent-up fury onto their female sex slaves. However, an unexpected, strange female turns up with their latest consignment of creatures and she makes Qaza question his actions. Jealous, Quazor becomes even more ruthless and cruel - more cruel than his brother has ever seen him before. Will the female drive a wedge between the brothers and break the unhealthy bond that ties them? Or force them to seek new meaning to their lives? When Victoria and the horses in her care are beamed up into a spaceship, she thinks she’s dreaming. That is until she wakes up in a rancid smelling filthy cell - luckily still with the horses. But the dirty cell and ugly aliens she first encounters are the least of her worries. Reality is about to get a whole lot worse when both the horses and her are sold off to other aliens. One of them is a sexy conundrum she hopes her counselling training will help, but she needs to avoid being the next sexual victim of his schizophrenic brother, all while defending the horses she was abducted with. She’ll do anything to protect them - even if it means putting her own life at risk. Qaza must decide what is most important to him - love or loyalty! Victoria must decide if Qaza’s words of love are real, or are they just another way of getting what he wants?

  • ISBN : 1400887151

Download or read book Neo Baroque written by Omar Calabrese and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2017-03-14 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A leading young Italian semiologist scrutinizes today's cultural phenomena and finds the prevailing taste to be "neo-baroque"--characterized by an appetite for virtuosity, frantic rhythms, instability, poly-dimensionality, and change. Omar Calabrese locates a "sign of the times" in an amazing variety of literary, philosophical, artistic, musical, and architectural forms, from the Venice Biennale through the "new science" to television series, video games, and "zapping" with the remote control device from channel to channel! Calabrese admits that he begins the book with a refusal to distinguish between "Donald Duck and Dante." Avoiding hierarchies or ghettos among works, he takes his readers on a fast-paced expedition through contemporary culture that closes with an elegant essay on evaluation and classical form. According to Calabrese, the enormous quantity of narrative now being produced has led to a new situation: everything has already been said, and everything has already been written. The only way of avoiding saturation has been to turn to a poetics of repetition. The author shows that pleasure in texts is now produced by tiny variations, and a certain kind of citation from other works has taken on a central importance that would have been unthinkable only a few years ago. In describing this development, and others shared by both avant-garde and mass media, he makes us aware of the rapid shrinkage in the once ample space between "highbrow" and "lowbrow." Originally published in 1992. Book The Creative Therapist

Book excerpt: In The Creative Therapist, Bradford Keeney makes the case that "creativity is the most essential aspect of vibrant, meaningful, and successful therapy." No matter what therapeutic orientation one practices, it must be awakened by creativity in order for the session to come alive. This book presents a theoretical framework that provides an understanding of how to go outside habituated ways of therapy in order to bring forth new and innovative possibilities. A basic structure for creative therapy, based on the outline of a three-part theatrical play, is also set forth. With these frameworks, practical guidelines detail how to initiate and implement creative contributions to any therapeutic situation.

Book excerpt: The first book in the New York Times bestselling Jessica Darling series When her best friend, Hope Weaver, moves away from Pineville, New Jersey, hyperobservant sixteen-year-old Jessica Darling is devastated. A fish out of water at school and a stranger at home, Jessica feels more lost than ever now that the only person with whom she could really communicate has gone. How is she supposed to deal with the boy- and shopping-crazy girls at school, her dad’s obsession with her track meets, her mother salivating over big sister Bethany’s lavish wedding, and her nonexistent love life? A fresh, funny, utterly compelling novel, Sloppy Firsts is an insightful, true-to-life look at Jessica’s predicament as she embarks on another year of teenage torment. From the dark days of Hope’s departure through her months as a type-A personality turned insomniac to her completely mixed-up feelings about Marcus Flutie, the intelligent and mysterious “Dreg” who works his way into her heart, this poignant, hilarious novel is sure to appeal to readers who are still going through it, as well as those who are grateful that they don’t have to go back and grow up all over again. “A hilarious trip down memory lane. You’ll laugh out loud–and cringe–as this first novel by McCafferty takes you back to the soap opera that was high school.”—Glamour

Book Plasma Astrophysics

  • Author : Arnold O. Benz
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2005-11-28

Download or read book Plasma Astrophysics written by Arnold O. Benz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-11-28 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook is intended as an introduction to the physics of solar and stellar coronae, emphasizing kinetic plasma processes. It is addressed to observational astronomers, graduate students, and advanced undergraduates without a ba- ground in plasma physics. Coronal physics is today a vast field with many different aims and goals. So- ing out the really important aspects of an observed phenomenon and using the physics best suited for the case is a formidable problem. There are already several excellent books, oriented toward the interests of astrophysicists, that deal with the magnetohydrodynamics of stellar atmospheres, radiation transport, and radiation theory. In kinetic processes, the different particle velocities play an important role. This is the case when particle collisions can be neglected, for example in very brief phenomena – such as one period of a high-frequency wave – or in effects produced by energetic particles with very long collision times. Some of the most persistent problems of solar physics, like coronal heating, shock waves, flare energy release, and particle acceleration, are likely to be at least partially related to such p- cesses. Study of the Sun is not regarded here as an end in itself, but as the source of information for more general stellar applications. Our understanding of stellar processes relies heavily, in turn, on our understanding of solar processes. Thus an introduction to what is happening in hot, dilute coronae necessarily starts with the plasma physics of our nearest star.
