Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this masterpiece of simplicity, Macrina Wiederkehr offers a series of meditations to bring us closer to a "God for all seasons," revised and expanded into this new edition. Designed for daily use as well as for retreats, Seasons of Your Heart is an eloquent and lyrical invitation to journey through the spiritual seasons of wonder, hope, love, mystery, and faith. Macrina Weiderkehr shares her "seasonal struggle with God" and encourages us to reconize those same peaks and valleys in our own spiritual life. Using biblical passages, poetry, and excerpts from her journal, Wiederkehr provides meditative ideas and prayers as "postures" for realizing and approaching the holy in our daily lives. These reflections and prayers, then, have grown out of a daily listening to God in the changing seasons of my spiritual life, "writes the author. "These reflections have grown out of my conviction that our God is not some Almighty Being beyond us, but a Mystery within."

Troxel, M.Div. Founder Shepherds Support Former Senior Pastor Wayside Evangelical Free Church San Antonio, TX In these rich reflections, Joe Carroll helps us reconnect our hearts to God s heart. The insights and stories illustrate the gospel with a capital G . The application of the Gospel, as Joe says, is that following Christ involves carrying a cross and not a broom . The effort to continually clean up our lives with our own broom is exhausting. Applying the cross and the true Gospel that this book explores is liberating. -Mark S Lewis National Director of Field Integration. The Navigators Because Your Heart Matters speaks volumes of our deepest need, to know our own heart, and God s heart toward us. I recommend this book to all who are willing to peel back those protective layers we have covered our hearts with, and connect our heads with our hearts, perhaps for the first time in our lives. -Richard N. Goad, DPM Associate Professor Department of Surgery Scott and White Healthcare/Texas A&M College of Medicine Because Your Heart Matters is a look at something most of us avoid looking at, done in a positive and inspiring manner. You will still feel the same way about yourself tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that. The bottom line is the most important relationship you will ever have is the relationship you have with yourself. This relationship can be a rewarding one when rooted in self-love, or it can be toxic when not. So, what is self-love? Why is it so important? And most importantly, how do you find it? The Heart of the Matter answers these questions and more. It takes the esoteric concept of self-love and makes it accessible by clearly defining the three necessary components of self-love. Learn how to reconnect to these components by: Discovering the transformational tools that are available within. Learning how to use these tools to uncover what you really think and feel about yourself and the world around you, and more importantly why. Transforming the wounded parts of self that have been separated from this love through practical steps and exercises for healing and forgiving the past. Empowering yourself to make more loving and conscious choices about what you believe and therefore what you will feel and experience. We all are searching for more love in our lives. The Heart of the Matter not only shows you where to look but also gives you a roadmap on how to get there.

Book The New Chosen People Revised and Expanded Edition

Download or read book The New Chosen People Revised and Expanded Edition written by William W. Klein and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-11-25 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Controversy rages on about God's choosing people for salvation. Are only the few elect? Rather than typically beginning with the preconceptions of systematic theologies, Dr. William Klein takes up this question by searching for a biblical theology of election. He surveys the OT contexts of God's choosing individuals--prophets, priests, kings--to serve divine purposes, and considers God's election of the nation of Israel as his special people. This OT study proposes that God's election is both individual and corporate, but not always determinative. Individuals entered the people of God by birth, but not all the people found salvation. Faith in Yahweh was required. This book traces these elective understandings through the intertestamental literature, identifying continuities and shifts. The bulk of the study, and the heart of the argument, focus on the New Testament. Klein identifies concepts of election, and relationships between writers in the gospels, the Lucan material, Paul's writings, and the rest. The new covenant, God choosing the church in Christ, emphasizes election as corporate, while the individual election of Jesus' disciples and of Paul raises the question whether such chosenness is necessarily salvific. In closing, Klein discusses the most engaging and divisive questions around God's election, and offers a real challenge to today's church.

Discover your truest self—the woman God created you to be—in Becoming Myself.
