This book was released on 2019-10-25 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. military has been continuously engaged in foreign conflicts for over two decades. The strains that these deployments, the associated increases in operational tempo, and the general challenges of military life affect not only service members but also the people who depend on them and who support them as they support the nation â€" their families. Family members provide support to service members while they serve or when they have difficulties; family problems can interfere with the ability of service members to deploy or remain in theater; and family members are central influences on whether members continue to serve. In addition, rising family diversity and complexity will likely increase the difficulty of creating military policies, programs and practices that adequately support families in the performance of military duties. Strengthening the Military Family Readiness System for a Changing American Society examines the challenges and opportunities facing military families and what is known about effective strategies for supporting and protecting military children and families, as well as lessons to be learned from these experiences. This report offers recommendations regarding what is needed to strengthen the support system for military families.

In The Military Experience: How It Can Impact Your Future, author Steven J. Crane shares his struggles pertaining to a career path, as a young adult. The decision by Crane to join the military was one of the BEST decisions of his life! Could it be the right choice for YOU? The book takes the reader through the process of joining the military, the differences between the military branches, what to expect in basic training, what to expect at your first duty station, experiences of military deployment, benefits you would receive, as well as potential cons of joining. Crane explains the benefits one can gain from joining the military are SUBSTANTIAL, including: guaranteed pay and potential bonuses, free housing, free medical and dental care, paid vacation, college tuition benefits, travel opportunities and advanced training options. By enlisting in the military, recruits over time will learn valuable skills and develop personal traits that are transferable to the civilian world, benefitting them regardless of what future path they choose. Some of the skills and traits the author refers to include: communication skills, teamwork, problem solving, DISCIPLINE, courage, conflict resolution, management, integrity, and adaptability. The author has spent twenty-five years in the banking industry with many of those years in senior management. He strongly believes his success is a direct result of the training he received as a young airman in the United States Air Force. As Crane addresses in the book, the military is not an easy path to take. However, the benefits and traits you can learn far outweigh the challenges one might experience and transfer to a civilian career. If you are a young adult struggling with making a decision what path to take after high school, this book is a quick read providing detailed information on a suitable option. Some people think college is their answer, yet the author shows how the military was his best option and how it continues today to benefit him in many ways. The education and experience one can experience in the military is invaluable. Crane took advantage of the college tuition assistance the military offers after fulfilling his military commitment.

Book Mission Transition

Download or read book Mission Transition written by Matthew J. Louis and published by HarperChristian + ORM. This book was released on 2019-09-24 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mission Transition is an essential career-change guide for any transitioning veteran that wants to avoid false starts and make optimal career choices following active duty. Every year, about a quarter of a million veterans leave the military - most of whom are unprepared for the transition. These service members have developed incredible leadership, problem-solving, and practical skills that are underutilized once they reach the civilian world, a detriment to both themselves and society. Well-intentioned Transition Assistance Programs and other support structures within the armed forces often leave veterans fending for themselves. The mission-first culture of the military results in service members focusing on their active duty roles in the year leading up to their separation, leaving them little time to adequately prepare to join the civilian world. President of Purepost, a next-generation staffing solution and public benefits corporation, and author Matthew J. Louis guides military personnel through the entire process of making a successful move into civilian professional life. In Mission Transition, this book will: Guide you through the process of discovering what path you want to take going forward Teach you the strategies that will make your résumé stand out Provide suggestions to help you prepare for and ace the interview Discuss ways to acclimate to your new organization’s culture and pay it forward to other veterans Each chapter includes advice from other veterans, illustrations of key concepts, summaries, and suggested resources. Let this well-written and easy to follow guidebook help you transition out from the military and commit to being successful in the next chapter of your life.
