Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Your Boys AM writing this during an air raid at at night, and I have just finished a Foreword for the Bishop of Zanzibar's new and tender little book. He has been a water-carrier for the British force in German East Africa, and Gipsy Smith has just come from the trenches in France. You would not expect the two books to be similar, but they are: they are both about Jesus. This devo tion to Jesus birds all time Christians together, and one day will bring us all more visibly together than we are now. I love this breezy little book of Gipsy Smith's; it is not only full of the love of Jesus, but love of our our boys. They are splendid. I spent the fix st two months of the war as their visiting chaplain - went out to give them their Easter Communion the first year of the war at the Front. Gipsy Smith and I made friends to gether, speaking for them at the London Opera House on the great day of Intercession and Thanks giving we had for them when the King himself called us all together. Download or read book Money Making for Boys written by A. Frederick A. Frederick Collins and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-09-16 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A WORD TO YOU Boy ! This book means money to you. It tells you how to turn your spare time into money, and as you need money I want you to read every line of it. You are old enough now to make whatever money you spend on yourself and you ought to be independent enough not to have to ask your folks for it. In the schemes I have put forth in the fol- lowing pages you will find at least one that you will like and can do, and if you work it hard enough you will make all of the spend- ing money you need. You may not know it but there is something more to money than merely getting hold of it and spending it. When it is given to you it comes easy, and naturally since you did not render any equivalent service for it you let it go just as easily. But it is different when you work for it for it is then, and then only, that you learn its true value and begin to feel that you must get your money's worth. Another thing you possibly never have thought of and that is when you work for money you give in exchange for it, or sell as we call it, the labour of your hands, or the ef- forts of your brain, or both of them combined, and you will learn what they are worth and what you ought to charge for them. If you put too high a price on them you will cheat the buyer, provided he buys; on the other hand, if you place too low a value on them you will cheat yourself. To be able to put a value on whatever you sell that is fair to both your customer and to yourself is to learn to do business as it ought to be done; and, next, by learning how to sell your products to a good advantage you will get a training that will go further toward helping you to make money as a man than any other one thing that I know of. Now you may say, DEGREES DEGREESWhy I live seven miles from the nearest town and I haven't a ghost of a chance to make money, '' or DEGREES DEGREESI live on the floor of a tenement house in a big city, and that lets me ont." Nothing is further from the truth of these ideas for wherever you live there you will find work that you can do, and it follows that you must make money by doing it. When I was a boy (a couple of years ago) I worked for the money I spent on myself and I know just what you can and can DEGREESt do; so in the simple directions I have written you won DEGREESt find that I Ve put you up against a man's job. Not only are the best and the most practical money making schemes laid down in this book but what is just as important you will find out what to do with your money after you have made it. Eead the book through carefully for it is a stepping stone to a successful business career. A. Feederick Collins,

Book Fifty Two More Stories for Boys Classic Reprint

Download or read book Fifty Two More Stories for Boys Classic Reprint written by W. H. G. Kingston and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-23 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Fifty-Two More Stories for Boys While nature keeps up the supply of boys and girls, men and women must keep pace with their requirements, and it behoves us all, whether tailors or editors, to rise to our responsibilities in providing clothing for their bodies and food for their minds. That our supplies should exceed the demand no one need fear: the modern boy has developed a prowess for the destruction of clothing, and a voracity in the assimila tion of fiction, that his father never knew; and were it not that his own career is full of the life and incident from which stories may be made for the boy next door, the author and the editor might well fear the exhaustion of materials. Some one has said that the story of any life must be of interest; and if this be true we have only to pass our life stories on from door to door, receiving from the neighbour on our left, and handing on to the neighbour on our right, in order to keep up a continual supply of stories so numerous as to be utterly exhaustless, for by the time our own story has circulated the world, and come back to the old home once more, the house will be empty and the tenant gone.
