On buses, in waiting rooms, at airports, Alisa Kanti used her mobile phone to translate the internal struggle that almost everyone endures in their life in order to find balance. lt is a walk through the liquid landscape of emotions filled with love, loss, pain, and gratefulness. lt is a reminder that we should not ignore the feelings that touch us so deeply. "Like an origami, my words, Are folded, Turning an empty page, Into a song for you. Soft gestures, Strong but hidden feelings, You should Not ignore." The second poetry book of Alisa Kanti "Butterflies on Your lips" has been honored by Ondo and Shen Tanaka on instagram and Youtube. Sharing through poetry with everyone, the true love of simple acts of life.--------------------------------Alisa KantiAfter several years of traveling, Alisa Kanti decided to settle down and we could say that the city of Barcelona chose her. Her poems were dancing in her head years before, taking form in the notebook of her mobile phone, over WhatsApp and the messages she was sending to her friends. One day, her closest friend encouraged her to share them with the rest of the world. From that moment on, the first book of poems, You Touched Me Deeply, came together. It is based on a personal story- one of the most intense love stories she ever had. Her poems are written inspired by real life. She does not want to write about herself, instead she tries to translate her feelings into words that can be read and shared by others. Her poetic voice is powerful, passionate, direct, personal and female. On walks along the beach, waiting for the next train or bus, running through the woods, queuing in the supermarket or just waiting for a friend, she continues her walk through the liquid landscape of feelings by writing her second book Butterflies On Your Lips.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Cousin Betty" – Set in mid-19th-century Paris, it tells the story of an unmarried middle-aged woman who plots the destruction of her extended family. Bette works with Valérie Marneffe, an unhappily married young lady, to seduce and torment a series of men. One of these is Baron Hector Hulot, husband to Bette's cousin Adeline. He sacrifices his family's fortune and good name to please Valérie, who leaves him for a tradesman named Crevel. "Cousin Pons" – Sylvain Pons, a musician in a Parisian boulevard orchestra, has two failings: his passion for collecting works of art and his passion for good food. Being a gourmet, Pons much enjoys dining regularly with his wealthy lawyer cousins M. and Mme Camusot de Marville. To remain on good terms with the Camusots, he tries to find a man for their unappealing daughter Cécile, but when this falls through, he is banished. However, when Mme Camusot learns of the value of Pons's art collection she strives to obtain possession of it as the basis of a dowry for her daughter. In this new development of the plot a bitter struggle ensues between various vulture-like figures, all of whom are keen to lay their hands on the collection.

Book My Dearest Lilla

  • Author : Gene Schmiel
  • Publisher : Univ. of Tennessee Press
  • Release : 2023-11-10
  • ISBN : 1621907996
  • Pages : 291 pages

Download or read book My Dearest Lilla written by Gene Schmiel and published by Univ. of Tennessee Press. This book was released on 2023-11-10 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jacob D. Cox experienced more facets of the Civil War than most officers: by land and sea, in both Western and Eastern Theaters, among the inner political circles of Ohio and Washington, DC, in territories hostile and friendly, amidst legal conflicts both civilian and military, and in the last campaigns in Tennessee and North Carolina. The Union general capitalized on his experience by penning his two-volume Military Reminiscences of the Civil War, one of the war’s finest memoirs and arguably the best by a nonprofessional soldier, as well as Atlanta and The Battle of Franklin, both definitive studies for nearly a century. In 2012, Gene Schmiel, Cox’s biographer, learned of a cache in the Oberlin College archives of 213 letters Cox wrote to his wife, Helen, during the war. Schmiel recognized these documents as a ready resource for Cox as he wrote his histories, and many stand as first drafts of Cox’s analyses of the military and sociopolitical events of the day. Helen Finney Cox (her husband affectionately referred to her as “Lilla”) was a mother of six and the daughter of Oberlin College president Charles Finney. These intimate and insightful wartime letters show both the fondness Cox had for his spouse and his respect for her as an intellectual equal. To Helen, the stoic, introverted statesman revealed—as he did to no one else—his inner thoughts and concerns, presenting observant, lucid, and informative reports and analyses of the war, his changing life, and his ambitions. This collection illustrates the life of a Gilded Age Renaissance man as he made the transition from untested soldier to respected general and statesman.
