This book was released on 2020-05-01 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The delivery of high quality and equitable care for both mothers and newborns is complex and requires efforts across many sectors. The United States spends more on childbirth than any other country in the world, yet outcomes are worse than other high-resource countries, and even worse for Black and Native American women. There are a variety of factors that influence childbirth, including social determinants such as income, educational levels, access to care, financing, transportation, structural racism and geographic variability in birth settings. It is important to reevaluate the United States' approach to maternal and newborn care through the lens of these factors across multiple disciplines. Birth Settings in America: Outcomes, Quality, Access, and Choice reviews and evaluates maternal and newborn care in the United States, the epidemiology of social and clinical risks in pregnancy and childbirth, birth settings research, and access to and choice of birth settings.

Download or read book Organisational Behaviour Engaging People and Organisations written by Ricky W. Griffin and published by Cengage AU. This book was released on 2020-09-14 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organisational Behaviour: Engaging People and Organisations uses an integrative model to teach a robust approach to OB by encompassing five levels of analysis: environment, individual, groups, leadership and organisation, and demonstrating how each relates to one another. It teaches a contemporary approach to Organisational Behaviour that aims to understand, rather than control, human behaviour in organisations. Unique to this local edition is the inclusion of a ‘critical perspective’ of Organisational Behaviour introduced through in-chapter features and the end-of-chapter case study. This complements courses that teach mainstream theory and advance through to critical examination of the subject area. This approach presents a side of management that reflects real-world experiences in the workplace by challenging the managerial perspective and discussing issues for employees. Download or read book Alien Experience written by Maura Tumulty and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If I were a better human being, that person's voice wouldn't sound so shrill to me. Many of us may have had such thoughts. They give voice to the worrying intuition that if we were less affected by sexism and racism, or better at keeping our tempers, our fellow humans would look and sound differently to us. In Alien Experience, Maura Tumulty argues that we should take this sense of unease seriously. It is as philosophically significant as our unease over desires or fears that we disown. Making sense of this unease requires us to re-think the relation between experiences and standing commitments; to re-consider what we mean by self-control; and to attend to empirical questions about perception, attention, and tacit cognition. In taking up these issues, Alien Experience illuminates and questions a significant assumption that underlies debates in the philosophy of mind, moral psychology, and ethics: While we may be answerable (morally, ethically, legally) for our attitudes and emotions, we are not answerable in any interesting way for our perceptions and sensations. Tumulty argues that this assumption leads to a flattened view of the ways experiences are related to agency. Recognizing that we can be alienated from our experiences helps us appreciate distinctive opportunities for self-improvement.

This book was released on 2021-01-05 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fresh, new pregnancy guide—the first complete functional medicine book—offering women and their partners a comprehensive approach to maintain and enhance health and wellness before, during, and after pregnancy. The Wise Woman’s Guide to Your Healthiest Pregnancy and Birth combines the expertise of top-tier physical therapist Patricia Ladis—who works with superstar athletes, professional dancers, and celebrities—with Dr. Anita Sadaty, a highly regarded holistic ob-gyn with a celebrity clientele. Together, they have devised a six-step protocol beginning the six months before conception continuing forty days post-birth and beyond, incorporating holistic principles that encourage optimal wellness for mother, partner, and baby. Whether they are in their 20’s, 30’s or 40’s, this book empowers readers to be in tune with their bodies during all stages of pregnancy, and is the first book by a functional medicine dream-team aligning medical and structural body issues to avoid such potential pregnancy outcomes as osteoporosis, sciatica, pelvic prolapse, structural weakness, and postpartum depression. Each of the six stages organizes Ladis and Sadaty’s holistic principles into five easy-to-follow aspects: Body, Movement, Breathing, Nourishment, and Wisdom. They include practical applications such as foods to help reduce internal inflammation, specific exercises—with instructive photos—in each stage, breathing techniques to lower stress, and “pearls of wisdom” backed by science exploring a multicultural history of this special time in a woman’s life. For the first time, a pregnancy guide considers the importance of choices you make six months prior to conception, and the effect on genes. When both members of a couple are calm, fit, and well-nourished, the latest science suggests that together they are less likely to pass on negative genes to a child.
