Book THE YOGA THERAPY HANDBOOK BOOK FOUR REVISED SECOND EDITION

Download or read book THE YOGA THERAPY HANDBOOK BOOK FOUR REVISED SECOND EDITION written by ROGER MARTIN DAVIS and published by AKU PRESS INTERNATIONAL. This book was released on 2015-03-27 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The long awaited revised 2nd edition of The Yoga Therapy Handbook has arrived! It is greatly expanded, colorful and much more descriptive than the original edition from 2007. The new version is contained in four distinct volumes (Book 1-4) that are being sold separately with an "a-la-cart" styling so readers can "pick and choose" from what works best for them as either a novice/beginner or advanced Yoga therapist. Perhaps, what is most intriguing, though, about this 2nd edition is that in the interim period the author made a dramatic and controversial decision to embrace Al-Islam. Accordingly, this edition wrestles with those quintessential elements that make a "comparative religion" flow to this text quite different than any other Yoga therapy book on the market today. The author also revives his review of the multicultural expressions as well in both Yoga Science and meditation practices. The creative artistic flair of the illustrator (Sue Jeong Ka) is still woven into the fabric of this text. This Fine Artist who is originally from South Korea (ROK) now lives and works in the USA (New York City. Surely, her talents have expanded since the first edition and we hope with the "print edition" to follow she add some new illustrations to enliven this text.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yoga Therapy For Common Health Problems is based on the ancient science of yoga and clinical success with patients around the world. For sufferers of certain problems and diseases, such as diabetes Type II, cardio-vascular ailments, back pain, neck pain, addictions, impotency, infertility, sexual disorders, as well as for overall health, the book provides a step-by-step process for treatment. With the help of this book, any person suffering from any of these conditions and others can benefit, correct or cure the disorder leading to better health. Since yoga as a science is not widely known as yet in the world, very few medical professionals are knowledgeable of it or its therapeutic application. Much of what is known has been distorted by religious, cultic and mystical viewpoints. Its scientific character only began being restored in the 1960's. This work comes out of the history, principles, philosophy and practices of Yoga Science. Every topic covered in this book is based on decades of experience in treating chronic health problems and conducting research in some dominant health issues of our time. These findings, therefore, are genuinely claimed and presented in this book. Please read them, apply them, and help others.

Book Sir John Woodroffe Tantra and Bengal

Download or read book Sir John Woodroffe Tantra and Bengal written by Kathleen Taylor and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Working with Bengali mentors, especially his close friend A. B. Ghose, Sir John Woodroffe became the pseudonymous orientalist Arthur Avalon, famous for his tantric studies at the beginning of the twentieth century. Best known for The Serpent Power, the book which introduced 'Kundalini Yoga' to the western world, Avalon turned the image of Tantra around, from that of a despised magical and orgiastic cult into a refined philosophy which greatly enhanced the prestige of Hindu thought to later generations of westerners. This biographical study is in two parts. The first focuses on Woodroffe's social identity in Calcutta against the background of colonialism and nationalism - the context in which he 'was' Arthur Avalon. To a very unusual degree for someone with a high position under the empire, Woodroffe the British High Court Judge absorbed the world of the Bengali intellectuals of his time, among whom his popularity was widely attested. His admirers were attracted by his Indian nationalism, to which his tantric studies and supposed learning formed an important adjunct. Woodroffe's friend Ghose, however, was the chief source of the textual knowledge in which the 'orientalist' scholar appeared to be deeply versed. The second part of this study assesses Woodroffe's own relationship to Sanskrit and to the texts, and highlights his very extensive but gifted use of secondary sources and the knowledge of Ghose and other Indian people. It examines the apologetic themes by which he and his collaborators made Tantra first acceptable, then fashionable. Partly because of his mysterious pseudonym, Woodroffe acquired a near legendary status for a time, and remains a fascinating figure. This book is written in a style that should appeal to the general reader as well as to students of Indian religions and early twentieth century Indian history, while being relevant to the ongoing debate about 'orientalism'.

Book Practical Yoga Psychology

Download or read book Practical Yoga Psychology written by Rishi Vivekananda and published by . This book was released on 2006-10 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical Yoga Psychology is a guide to applying the principles of yoga to understanding the human mind and character. The book relates the practice of yoga to the principles and practice of psychology. Psychology is a science that tries to understand how the human mind functions. It tries to explain individual human traits, the behaviour of a person, the way they relate to other people, their surroundings and the world in general. The character and behaviour of a person is studied not just for an abstract understanding but also to find ways in which each person can improve relationships, improve the way they interact with the world and thus enhance their life experience. The science of yoga studies the human soul. In the view of yoga, it is not the body and mind that experience life. It is the soul that undergoes all these experiences through the body. Yoga classifies the character of a person based on the three Gunas, Tamas, Rajas and Sattva.Tamas is inertia, Rajas is passion and action and Sattwa is purity and balance. Yoga also studies the influences of the various chakras on the body and mind of a person. The chakras are centers of concentrated energy. The book explains the core qualities inherent in each chakra.
