Book Hindu Mission Christian Mission

Download or read book Hindu Mission Christian Mission written by Reid B. Locklin and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2024-05-01 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For some four hundred years, Hindus and Christians have been engaged in a public controversy about conversion and missionary proselytization, especially in India and the Hindu diaspora. Hindu Mission, Christian Mission reframes this controversy by shifting attention from "conversion" to a wider, interreligious study of "mission" as a category of thought and practice. Comparative theologian Reid B. Locklin traces the emergence of the nondualist Hindu teaching of Advaita Vedānta as a missionary tradition, from the eighth century to the present day, and draws this tradition into dialogue with contemporary proposals in Christian missiology. As a descriptive study of the Chinmaya Mission, the Ramakrishna Mission, and other leading Advaita mission movements, Hindu Mission, Christian Mission contributes to a growing body of scholarship on transnational Hinduism. As a speculative work of Christian comparative theology, it develops key themes from this engagement for a new, interreligious theology of mission and conversion for the twenty-first century and beyond.

Some of the Cardinal cosmic laws are: “What is evolved is necessarily caused.”-- Cardinal cosmic law - “Being originated it is destructible/changed.” -- Cardinal cosmic law - “What is caused is limited.” -- Cardinal cosmic law Evolution takes place every moment*. “A moment is that period of time unit by which an Anu (atom) in motion gives up its previous position and reaches the succeeding place.” — Maharshi Vyasa. (3000BC) *A moment (Kshana) indicates the smallest unit of time. “Dharma is the form of Dharmi”. “There is no Dharma without a Dharmi” “Dharma Parinama =Characteristic Manifestation is known as Creation” This subject of creation is generally considered obscure, abstract, secretive and unfathomable. But knowledge is self-luminating and the Veda is knowledge. The ancient wisdom of Bharathadesam is the source of illumination for the concepts of creation.

This book was released on 2005 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this pathbreaking book, the authors show that the ancient Indians were no primitives but possessed a high spiritual culture, which not only influenced the evolution of the Western world in decisive ways but which still hs much to teach us today. India's archaic spirituality is codified in the rich symbols, metaphors and myths of the magnificent Rig-Veda, which is shown to be much older than has been widely assumed by scholars. The present book also unravels the astonishing mathematical and astronomical code hidden in the Vedic hymns. Anyone interested in ancient cultural history, India, archaeo-astronomy or spirituality will find this well researched and cross-cultural work spellbinding and enriching.
