Book Yes Virginia Quantum Mechanics Can Be Understood

Download or read book Yes Virginia Quantum Mechanics Can Be Understood written by John P. Wallace and published by . This book was released on 2017-04-04 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Virginia, B. W. Wooster, and Jeeves take up physics with the hope of understanding quantum mechanics. In the process they take a rather grand tour on an old sailing ship and aid a sow in distress. On their journey they discover that physics is not as difficult a subject as they imagined. When they dismantled physics and reassembled it in a form where gravity, strong, electromagnetic and the weak forces all stem from understanding the gaming strategy known as the fair-game. That great cultural divide first expounded by the novelist C.P.Snow was found to be a mere ditch that can be stepped over. The sins of the past were violations of energy conservation and strange notions about what mass actually represents. Now mass is defined without the assistance of the Standard Model. Things will not be the same. Singularities have been banished. The electron now has a scale and is no longer captive in a point. The gluon is no longer essential along with the single virtual photon.

Book Reality vs Quantum Mysticism

Download or read book Reality vs Quantum Mysticism written by R. Curtis Arthur and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2021-05-26 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Science has made tremendous advances in overcoming superstition and replacing “revealed truth” with proven factual truth. Quantum mechanics and the Theories of Relativity have contributed immensely to these advances. But, in spite of this, certain absurdities, referred to as the “quantum enigma”, have emerged from the standard interpretation of quantum mechanics. This has been recognized by some physicists, but the absurdities have been largely ignored by most to the detriment of our understanding of the creation, evolution and nature of the universe. Albert Einstein himself felt quantum mechanics was incomplete and spent the last 3 or 4 decades of his life fighting the proponents of the absurdities. It has been claimed that Einstein lost this battle, but the author disagrees and provides proof of the opposite. Einstein may have made slight mistakes in developing his Theories of Relativity, however, that may have unintentionally contributed to the absurdities and the author’s work supports the statement that "Einstein may have been wrong just where most thought he was right and right just where most thought he was wrong." The author provides a new analysis of space and time and corrections to aspects of quantum mechanics and the Theories of Relativity that may eliminate the absurdities. This could provide a new understanding of the birth, evolution and nature of the universe and possible explanations for dark energy and dark matter. This is presented in a manner that can be understood and appreciated by all curious folks, not just physicists, and will help them understand their universe and the amazing things physicists have accomplished.

Book Quantum Physics For Beginners

Download or read book Quantum Physics For Beginners written by Daniel Long and published by . This book was released on 2021-03-29 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Would you like to discover and understand how the world around you works, while discovering how your thoughts can help you shape the reality you desire? If the answer is "YES", then keep reading... Quantum physics is a part of physics that describes the smallest things in our universe like atoms, molecules, electrons, protons, neutrons, and so on, and it's super fascinating because everything, including us as human beings, is all made of quantum physics. People tend to think that quantum physics is extremely complicated to understand, in fact, Richard Feynman, which won the Nobel prize for his work on quantum electrodynamics said: "If you think you understand quantum physics, you don't understand quantum physics." Luckily this quote is a little misleading, because humans have managed to understand quantum physics very well, and it's arguably the most successful scientific theory available today. Basically, it all depends on how it's explained, and within this book, you will easily understand the most important aspects of quantum mechanics and how it affects the world around us, in fact, by reading this book you'll discover: - What Quantum Physics Actually Is, so you can understand in an easy-to-read way how everything around us works at the scale of atoms and subatomic particles - The Quantum Origins Of The Universe, so that you can learn how quantum cosmology describes the origins of the universe using physical laws - Laws And Principles Of Quantum Physics, so you will be able to understand what are the most relevant theories in quantum mechanics - The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, which is a fundamental property of the universe that explains that the more precisely one knows a particle's position, the less one can know about its momentum, and vice versa - How Quantum Entanglement Works, so you will easily understand one of the weirdest and coolest phenomena in physics which allows two objects to affect each other's behavior instantly across vast distances - The Powerful Law Of Attraction, with a dedicated chapter that will teach you how you can use this extremely powerful universal law to attract into your life whatever you focus on - Schrödinger's Theories And His Cats, so you can discover how quantum physics can generate paradoxes when applied to the macro world, just like the cat in his experiment which is both dead and alive at the same time - ... & Much More! With this book, you will be able to understand every aspect of everything existing in our universe, and you will finally understand what are the laws that govern our existence, so... ...What are you waiting for? Book Foundations of Quantum Mechanics

Download or read book Foundations of Quantum Mechanics written by Travis Norsen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-08-17 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Authored by an acclaimed teacher of quantum physics and philosophy, this textbook pays special attention to the aspects that many courses sweep under the carpet. Traditional courses in quantum mechanics teach students how to use the quantum formalism to make calculations. But even the best students - indeed, especially the best students - emerge rather confused about what, exactly, the theory says is going on, physically, in microscopic systems. This supplementary textbook is designed to help such students understand that they are not alone in their confusions (luminaries such as Albert Einstein, Erwin Schroedinger, and John Stewart Bell having shared them), to sharpen their understanding of the most important difficulties associated with interpreting quantum theory in a realistic manner, and to introduce them to the most promising attempts to formulate the theory in a way that is physically clear and coherent. The text is accessible to students with at least one semester of prior exposure to quantum (or "modern") physics and includes over a hundred engaging end-of-chapter "Projects" that make the book suitable for either a traditional classroom or for self-study.

Book excerpt: Are you looking for a useful guide to help you understand the most interesting concepts of quantum physics, the law of attraction, and the theory of relativity? If yes, then keep reading. In this book, we've done our best to explain the most interesting and common concepts of quantum physics, to arm the reader with useful (and desirable) knowledge, whether you're reading for self-betterment, understanding, or bragging rights. If we do our job correctly, the reader will emerge with a newfound understanding of the workings of the universe and everything around us. This guide contains information about Quantum Physics and the way of understanding the aspects of Physics and other stuff like particles, waves, and light. Even though classical physics came first, quantum physics can be used to explain most of the classical physics' phenomena on a large scale. The book came into existence to establish a firm intellectual basis for the foundation of QP for those among the masses who are not necessarily professional physicists but who nevertheless are willing to make an effort to go beyond fairytales. Only once the non-experts know what QP is about can they safely distinguish and discriminate between a serious scientific claim and more or less pseudo-scientific fantasy. Our guide is intended for anyone that ever asked the fundamental question "why" during science class and received an answer that was not very satisfying, or it was not answered at all. Questioning thoughts and ideas is what leads to human progress. This Book Covers: The first quantum concept Max Planck, the father of quantum physics Einstein's relativity The law of attraction Causality in quantum physics Quantum mechanics and general relativity incompatibility ...And Much More! Book Contemporary Research in the Foundations and Philosophy of Quantum Theory

Download or read book Contemporary Research in the Foundations and Philosophy of Quantum Theory written by C.A. Hooker and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To mathematicians, mathematics is a happy game, to scientists a mere tool and to philosophers a Platonic mystery - or so the caricature runs. The caricature reflects the alleged 'cultural gap' between the disciplines a gap for which there too often has been, sadly, sound historical evidence. In many minds the lack of communication between philosophy and the exact disciplines is especially prominent. Yet in the past there was no separation - exact knowledge, covering both scientists and mathemati cians, was known as natural philosophy and the business of providing a critical view of the nature of reality and an accurate mathematical de scription of it constituted a single task from the glorious tradition begun by the early Greek philosophers even up until Newton's day (but I am thinking of Descartes and Leibniz I). The lack of communication between these professional groups has been particularly unfortunate, for the past half century has seen the most ex citing developments in mathematical physics since Newton. These devel opments hinged on the introduction of vast new reaches of mathematics into physics (non-Euclidean geometries, covariant formulations, non commutative algebras, functional analysis and so on) and conversely have challenged mathematicians to develop the appropriate mathematical fields. Equally, these developments have posed profound philosophical problems to do with the rejection of traditional conceptions concerning the nature of physical reality and physical theorising.

Book Understanding Quantum Raffles

Download or read book Understanding Quantum Raffles written by Michael Janas and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-12-03 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a thorough technical elaboration and philosophical defense of an objectivist informational interpretation of quantum mechanics according to which its novel content is located in its kinematical framework, that is, in how the theory describes systems independently of the specifics of their dynamics. It will be of interest to researchers and students in the philosophy of physics and in theoretical physics with an interest in the foundations of quantum mechanics. Additionally, parts of the book may be used as the basis for courses introducing non-physics majors to quantum mechanics, or for self-study by those outside of the university with an interest in quantum mechanics. With a Foreword by Jeffrey Bub. -- “Understanding Quantum Raffles is a wonderful book for both the specialists and those with curious minds. The elegance and the simplicity with which the 'three Mikes' explain some of the deepest aspects of quantum mechanics on the basis of probabilities and correlations are dazzling and delightful. The same elegance and simplicity also make the book ideal for any engaged reader who ever wondered what is so special about quantum mechanics. In our age of new quantum technologies, this is something anyone should read.” (Guido Bacciagaluppi, author of Quantum Theory at the Crossroads) “This book makes a sustained argument for an informational interpretation of quantum theory, blending an elegant mathematical characterisation of quantum correlations with incisive historical and philosophical analysis. A must-read for those interested in quantum foundations, and also a fertile source of teaching inspiration for quantum theory.” (Leah Henderson, Department of Theoretical Philosophy, University of Groningen) “This is one of the most fascinating and accessible presentations of the informational approach to quantum mechanics. What has so far been mostly restricted to the theoretical physics community is here masterfully explained for a broader audience even without a physics background. Scholars, students, and laypeople alike will appreciate the clear, vivid, and yet deep discussion of what raffle tickets and correlation elliptopes can tell us about the physics and philosophy of the quantum world.” (Markus Müller, Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, Vienna)

Is time travel possible? Believe it or not, it is possible: welcome to the Quantum World! Unlike other arguments, however, the real difficulty is not in understanding, but in accepting something completely senseless, precisely in the right meaning of the term: not sensible, that is, contrary to the perception of our senses. You will notice that quantum mechanics is much "easier" than the theory of relativity. In fact, you could get a child to help you digest certain concepts. The great difficulty does not lie in their complexity, but their absurdity in terms of logic acquired after many years of existence in a world that constantly follows certain rules. The more the brain is free of preconceptions and ingrained notions, the better it is. ★★★In this book you will learn:★★★ What the interference is; How many dimensions the Universe has; Quantum wave function; What Particles of Light are. Book excerpt: "The central question at the Solvay Congress in 1927 was: Is quantum mechanics a "complete theory," or is the statistical character of its predictions merely the reflection of our ignorance of an underlying causal infrastructure? Today, after forty years of unchecked success of quantum mechanics on every front of physical science, the question still occupies the minds of many thoughtful students of quantum mechanics... With a few exceptions destined for the specialist, all of this dialogue can be read and understood by anybody with sufficient interest in the epistemology of modern science. Many of the passages used are more or less faithful reproductions of actual conversations or statements from correspondence and published material." --From the Introduction.
