What exactly does David mean by “I shall not want”? What is “the valley of the shadow of death”? If you crave an in-depth analysis of the deeper meaning of these expressions and wish to savor the poetic beauty of Psalm 23, this book is a must-read for you. King David is one of the most fascinating figures in the Holy Bible and He was an exceptional poet, musician, and songwriter. In Psalm 23, he captures the beauty of nature and combines it with his unshakable faith based on his relational experiences with Yahweh. From the historical context when David wrote the psalm, David was a lost sheep—on the run from king Saul, became a nomad going from town to town to survive. He was a black sheep—his was overlooked by his own father, and his brothers were angry with him for his bravery in the face of Goliath’s defiance. But he was also a safe sheep—through it all Yahweh, the Lord, was with him to keep him safe from danger, and ultimately made him king. Whichever category you fit in—whether a lost sheep, black sheep, or a safe sheep, you can still put your trust in the Lord as YOUR Shepherd to guide and protect you always. THIS IS BOOK IS A DAY’S READING FOR A LIFETIME OF FAITH—A Must Have!!!

As I have studied the Bible, I have seen how important shepherds and sheep have been all the way through the Old Testament and New Testament. They were always a part of Gods plan, so I thought it would be interesting to put all these references to shepherds, sheep, and lambs in one publication so that we could see how it all fits together. I hope this will be enlightening and an inspiration to all who read this.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters… These are the opening lines to one of the most memorized, inspirational, and comforting passages in the Bible—and one of the greatest poems of all time. In six verses, it provides a microcosm of God’s grace. When anxiety robs us of sleep, our most powerful “tranquilizer” is Psalm 23. It’s a soul-soother. It appears in the middle of a trilogy of psalms dealing with our past, our present, and our future needs. In The Lord is My Shepherd, Morgan teaches Psalm 23 verse-by-verse, explaining its extraordinary power to change lives and ease our troubles. He shares its fascinating context and colorful background, as well as his own charming, real-life stories of herding sheep. You’ll find encouragement to enjoy the “green pastures” of life while becoming strengthened by the “dark valleys.” Furthermore, Morgan maintains that some of the Bible’s richest truths are summarized in these six simple verses of Psalm 23. In knowing the Good Shepherd, we have total resources for all our internal, external, and eternal needs. Through this clear explanation of the biblical text and great stories that illustrate the love and care of the shepherd, The Lord is My Shepherd will help you rediscover the joy, inspiration, and peace in the green pastures of this beloved psalm.

Book The Lord Is My Shepherd

Download or read book The Lord Is My Shepherd written by James O. Best and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-06-19 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David in the Twenty-Third Psalm taught us that God is not some unknown God up in heaven sitting on His throne, but He is close, personal, and intimate. God did not introduce Himself to Moses as El Shaddai, the powerful God of the mountains, nor did He introduce Himself as Elohim, the mighty and majestic God of creation, but Yahweh the great "I am" He who will make things happen for you in the valley of your human failures, struggles, and adversities. God is not some unknown God up in heaven sitting on His throne, but He is close, personal, and intimate. He is the God who walks with us in our valley of need and makes things happen for us. He told Moses: "... I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows. And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians" God saw their circumstances, He heard their cries, and felt their sorrows. There is no problem so minute, so trivial and so insignificant that Christ does not see or hear our cries. He told Moses that He would come down and be with him. The promise that God made to Moses, Christ makes to us in our trying moments. If you have a problem that you can't solve, a burden you can't bear, a spouse you can't stand, a child you can't handle, a boss you can't forgive, take it to Jesus. If you have an addiction you can't break, a heart-ache you can't overcome, a mountain you can't climb, a sickness that the doctors can't heal, a dream crushed by adversity, hopes wiped out by disappointment, a pain that wont go away, a hunger that a steak just wont satisfy, take it to Jesus. Christ our good Shepherd promises: "My grace is enough; it's all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness" 2 Corinthians 12:9. NIV "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

KJV – Mark 10:14 quotes our Lord Jesus Christ telling His disciples “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not for such is the kingdom of GOD.” It is up to us to teach our children about God and our Lord Jesus Christ, we can’t leave it up to others to teach them. It needs to be taught to them when they’re young so that they have something to remember when they need it. I pray my books minister to you as you minister to the children. Always remember nobody is perfect but Jesus Christ. The rest of us are all just a work in progress. M. A. Benjamin has worked with children for several years. Book A Theological Examination of Symbolism in Ezekiel with Emphasis on the Shepherd Metaphor

Download or read book A Theological Examination of Symbolism in Ezekiel with Emphasis on the Shepherd Metaphor written by Joel K. T. Biwul and published by Langham Monographs. This book was released on 2013-12-14 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses one of the ever-aching problems of human society – failed leadership in secular and sacred domains. It points out, from Ezekiel’s use of symbolism and shepherd motif, what society stands to suffer and or lose under a bad human leadership structure and bad governance. This plays out in the book’s x-ray of the characteristics of sheep needing a shepherd. Dr. Biwul contends that Ezekiel used symbolic sign-acts to indict both Israel’s bad and imperfect human shepherds as well as the Babylonian exiles as being responsible for their plight for not upholding the norms of Deuteronomic theology. Particularly, he argues forcefully from Ezekiel’s shepherd motif that a major factor responsible for the exile of Israel as a covenant community is the massive failure of its bad and imperfect human shepherds who did not possess the requisite shepherding qualities inherent in Yahweh as chief shepherd of Israel. Biwul therefore draws particular attention to the reality of Ezekiel’s use of the recognition formula when Yahweh acts at last to restore his people. This is rooted in the theological-eschatological motif which would come to its full reality in the anticipated eschatological community when Yahweh would shepherd his people.
