Book Dynamic Vibration Absorbers

Download or read book Dynamic Vibration Absorbers written by Boris G. Korenev and published by . This book was released on 1993-11-02 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A detailed and extensive description regarding the theory of passive dynamic absorbers not requiring additional energy sources. Considers the peculiarities in solving vibration absorption problems using the simplest double-mass linear model of the protected structure and absorber. Examines design schemes and offers data on the efficiency of complicated absorber models. Deals with the problems of vibration damping of continuous and multimass systems. Describes practical applications of the vibration protection theory for various constructions and objects.

Book Theory of Besov Spaces

Download or read book Theory of Besov Spaces written by Yoshihiro Sawano and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-04 with total page 945 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a self-contained textbook of the theory of Besov spaces and Triebel–Lizorkin spaces oriented toward applications to partial differential equations and problems of harmonic analysis. These include a priori estimates of elliptic differential equations, the T1 theorem, pseudo-differential operators, the generator of semi-group and spaces on domains, and the Kato problem. Various function spaces are introduced to overcome the shortcomings of Besov spaces and Triebel–Lizorkin spaces as well. The only prior knowledge required of readers is familiarity with integration theory and some elementary functional analysis.Illustrations are included to show the complicated way in which spaces are defined. Owing to that complexity, many definitions are required. The necessary terminology is provided at the outset, and the theory of distributions, L^p spaces, the Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator, and the singular integral operators are called upon. One of the highlights is that the proof of the Sobolev embedding theorem is extremely simple. There are two types for each function space: a homogeneous one and an inhomogeneous one. The theory of function spaces, which readers usually learn in a standard course, can be readily applied to the inhomogeneous one. However, that theory is not sufficient for a homogeneous space; it needs to be reinforced with some knowledge of the theory of distributions. This topic, however subtle, is also covered within this volume. Additionally, related function spaces—Hardy spaces, bounded mean oscillation spaces, and Hölder continuous spaces—are defined and discussed, and it is shown that they are special cases of Besov spaces and Triebel–Lizorkin spaces.

Book Smart Materials

Book excerpt: Explores State-of-the-Art Work from the World's Foremost Scientists, Engineers, Educators, and Practitioners in the FieldWhy use smart materials?Since most smart materials do not add mass, engineers can endow structures with built-in responses to a myriad of contingencies. In their various forms, these materials can adapt to their environments by c

Book Projectile Impact

Download or read book Projectile Impact written by S. Syngellakis and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2014-03-04 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High energy impact phenomena have been investigated by engineers of various backgrounds and disciplines. Structures often need to be designed against impact or potential attack and on the other hand the removal of decommissioned structures may be achieved by shaped charge impact, alternatively known as explosive cutting. The topic of ballistic impact is wide-ranging and encompasses various levels of kinetic energy input as well as a multitude of projectile-target materials and geometries. It has thus become the object of many experimental and analytical investigations resulting in numerous sparsely-spread articles in periodicals and conference proceedings as well as monographs narrowly focusing on specific types and ranges of impact scenarios. This volume describes a broad spectrum of analytical and experimental work in this area, thus providing considerable insight into the complexity and diversity of impact phenomena. By addressing a significant number of important issues it combines, rather uniquely, subject breadth and density with in-depth study of impact events of great engineering interest.

Book excerpt: Morrey spaces were introduced by Charles Morrey to investigate the local behaviour of solutions to second order elliptic partial differential equations. The technique is very useful in many areas in mathematics, in particular in harmonic analysis, potential theory, partial differential equations and mathematical physics. Across two volumes, the authors of Morrey Spaces: Introduction and Applications to Integral Operators and PDE’s discuss the current state of art and perspectives of developments of this theory of Morrey spaces, with the emphasis in Volume II focused mainly generalizations and interpolation of Morrey spaces. Features Provides a ‘from-scratch’ overview of the topic readable by anyone with an understanding of integration theory Suitable for graduate students, masters course students, and researchers in PDE's or Geometry Replete with exercises and examples to aid the reader’s understanding

Book Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Electrorheological Fluids and Magnetorheological Suspensions

Download or read book Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Electrorheological Fluids and Magnetorheological Suspensions written by Faramarz Gordaninejad and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007 with total page 843 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ERMR 2006 included invited speakers, technical presentations, poster presentations, and a student paper competition. At the conference banquet, Dr. David Carlson of Lord Corporation addressed the conference attendees and gave a stirring speech on the history of ER and MR fluids, as well as current and future applications. A unique feature of the ERMR Conferences is that they comprehensively cover issues ranging from physics to chemistry to engineering applications of ER and MR materials held in a general session to enhance the interaction between the scientists and engineers. The sessions in ERMR 2006 were organized based into two Symposia: a) Materials and b) Applications. Topics covered in the Materials Symposium included: mechanisms, preparation, and characterization of ER and MR materials. Topics covered in the Applications Symposium included: ER and MR devices, control systems, system integration, and applications. This structure was implemented in order to enable interaction between attending scientists and engineers in both the Materials Symposium and the Applications Symposium, and to enhance the free flow of ideas, and the potential collaborative research opportunities.
