Download or read book Xi Jinping s Discourse of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era 2012 2017 Deconstructed written by Daurius Figueira and published by AHTLE FIGUEIRA. This book was released on 2023-07-01 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a deconstruction of a selection drawn from the collected works of Xi Jinping from 2012 to 2017 specifically dealing with Xi Jinping's discourse of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era. For Xi Jinping New Era is the historical epoch in which China has to attain its Two Centenary Goals of becoming a moderately prosperous society by 2022 and attaining the rejuvenation of China, the Chinese Dream by 2049. This process is impacted by specific, grave, difficult and some intractable problems which must be mitigated in order to attain the Two Centenary Goals. From 2012 to 2017 Xi Jinping reveals in great detail his discourse, worldview and plan of action to mitigate these problems and attain the Two Centenary Goals. Xi Jinping insists that a new model of development and governance is demanded to attain especially the Chinese Dream, which amounts to building a new China markedly different from the two development models that preceded the New Era. The departure point of Xi Jinping's model is the new governance rooted in the hegemony of law over the social order including the Party. Xi Jinping has then an order of power that underpins this new development and governance model that is a departure from those of the two preceding models. The vision of Xi Jinping's discourse of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era is a signal to all nations seeking to end underdevelopment and neo-colonial domination. Compulsory reading for all of us seeking liberation from domination, exploitation and underdevelopment in the 21st century.

This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Central Party School has good traditions and good experiences, and has organized and compiled a series of "three basics" textbooks entitled "Basic Issues of Marxism-Leninism," "Basic Issues of Mao Zedong Thought," and "Basic Issues of Deng Xiaoping Theory," which have produced good training results and social influence, and are still the basic teaching materials for education and training in the party school system. The compilation of "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" is a powerful measure to inherit and carry forward the good traditions and good experience of party schools, and it is also a practical action to deeply promote the study and education of the party's theoretical innovation achievements. The basic idea of compiling this book is to focus on comprehensively and accurately grasping the connotation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and mainly highlight two aspects: First, focus on clarifying the basic issues that constitute this thought. According to the internal logic of this thought, it closely revolves around the basic issues that are fundamental and play the role of "four beams and eight pillars", revealing and explaining the foundation, background of the times, the main theme of this thought, the historical contribution, as well as the fundamental position, essential characteristics, overall layout, strategic arrangement, fundamental driving force, important guarantee, political guarantee, etc. of adhering to and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, so as to better display the basic context of Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. The second is to focus on clarifying the original contribution of this idea. On the basis of fully absorbing the existing research results in the ideological and theoretical circles, we will focus on in-depth research and exposition of the original major viewpoints and theories of this idea from the academic theory, and clearly explain the location and inner meaning of innovation from the perspectives of theoretical origin, historical context, practical results, and international comparison, so as to show the fundamentals and highlight the key points, so as to achieve the combination of points and surfaces, and bring the areas with points. This is also the starting point and focus of the layout of this book. Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is a majestic theoretical peak and a rich treasure trove of ideas that needs to be constantly explored. This book is only a phased research result."--Publisher's description.

Book The Third Revolution

Download or read book The Third Revolution written by Elizabeth Economy and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After three decades of reform and opening up, China is closing its doors, clamping down on Western influence in the economy, media, and civil society. At the same time, President Xi Jinping has positioned himself as a champion of globalization, projecting Chinese power abroad and seeking toreshape the global order. Herein lies the paradox of modern China - the rise of a more insular, yet more ambitious China that will have a profound impact on both the country's domestic politics and its international relations. In The Third Revolution, eminent China scholar Elizabeth Economy provides an incisive look at the world's most populous country. Inheriting a China burdened with slowing economic growth, rampant corruption, choking pollution, and a failing social welfare system, President Xi has reversed course, rejecting the liberalizing reforms of his predecessors. At home, the Chinese leadership has reasserted the role of the state into society and enhanced Party and state control. Beyond its borders, Beijing has recast itself as a great power and has maneuvered itself to be an arbiter - not just aplayer - on the world stage. Through an exploration of Xi Jinping's efforts to address top policy priorities - fighting corruption, controlling the internet, reforming state-owned enterprises, improving the country's innovation capacity, reducing the country's air pollution, and elevating itspresence on the global stage - Economy identifies the tensions, shortcomings, and successes of Xi's first five years in office. Xi's ambition, she argues, provides new opportunities for the United States and the rest of the world to encourage greater Chinese contribution to global public goods butalso necessitates a more proactive and coordinated effort to counter the rapidly expanding influence of an illiberal power within a liberal world order. This is essential reading for anyone interested in both China under Xi and how America and the world should deal with this vast nation in thecoming years.

Book excerpt: Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China over 70 years ago, five paramount leaders have shaped the fates and fortunes of the nation and the ruling Chinese Communist Party: Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, and Xi Jinping. Under their leaderships, China has undergone an extraordinary transformation from an undeveloped and insular country to a comprehensive world power. In this definitive study, renowned Sinologist David Shambaugh offers a refreshing account of China’s dramatic post-revolutionary history through the prism of those who ruled it. Exploring the persona, formative socialization, psychology, and professional experiences of each leader, Shambaugh shows how their differing leadership styles and tactics of rule shaped China domestically and internationally: Mao was a populist tyrant, Deng a pragmatic Leninist, Jiang a bureaucratic politician, Hu a technocratic apparatchik, and Xi a modern emperor. Covering the full scope of these leaders’ personalities and power, this is an illuminating guide to China’s modern history and understanding how China has become the superpower of today.

Book The Political Thought of Xi Jinping

Download or read book The Political Thought of Xi Jinping written by Steve Tsang and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-12-07 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An authoritative examination of "Xi Jinping Thought"--now the official dogma of the Chinese Communist Party--that marshals Xi's personal words and writings to reveal his plan to make "the China Dream of national rejuvenation" a reality in the coming decades. Over the course of the last half dozen years, China's supreme leader Xi Jinping has made extraordinary changes which have profound implications not only for the Chinese people but nations throughout the world. Given how swiftly and fundamentally China's relations with the rest of the world are changing under Xi's rule, it is imperative that we know what Xi Jinping Thought is, how it evolved, and why it is so important. In The Political Thought of Xi Jinping, Steve Tsang and Olivia Cheung provide an authoritative overview of what "Xi Jinping Thought" is and is not and what it means for both China and the world. Xi, now effectively leader for life, has worked to ensure that "Xi Jinping Thought" becomes cemented as the new state ideology. Clearly inspired by the doctrine of "Mao Zedong Thought," which shaped the parameters of acceptable thinking for a quarter century, Xi wants his doctrine to define what he calls the "China Dream of national rejuvenation" and serve the pathway to its fulfilment by 2050. As Xi conceives it, the China Dream is about making China great again, or restoring China to the height of its power, influence, and international standing in the mythical era of grandeur in its long imperial history. Drawing from original research of Xi's speeches, writings, and policies, Tsang and Cheung conceptualize Xi's vision independently from interpretations provided by the Chinese Communist Party or other sources. They further examine and explain how Xi seeks to transform this vision into reality. An authoritative analysis of the leader-driven ideological revolution that is currently transforming China, this book will be essential reading for anyone interested in where China might be headed in coming years.

Book Chinese Politics in the Era of Xi Jinping

Download or read book Chinese Politics in the Era of Xi Jinping written by Willy Wo-Lap Lam and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-03-12 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Renowned for his coverage of China's elite politics and leadership transitions, veteran Sinologist Willy Lam has produced the first book-length study in English of the rise of Xi Jinping--General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since November 2012. With rare insight, Lam describes Xi's personal history and his fascination with quasi-Maoist values, the factional politics through which he ascended, the configuration of power of the Fifth-Generation leadership, and the country's likely future directions under the charismatic "princeling." Despite an undistinguished career as a provincial administrator, Xi has rapidly amassed more power than his predecessors. He has overawed his rivals and shaken up the party-state hierarchy by launching large-scale anti-corruption and rectification campaigns. With a strong power base in the People's Liberation Army and a vision of China as an "awakening lion," Xi has been flexing China's military muscle in sovereignty rows with countries including Japan, Vietnam, and the Philippines while trying to undermine the influence of the United States in the Asia-Pacific region. While Xi is still fine-tuning his art of governance, his zero tolerance for dissent and his preoccupation with upholding the privileges of the "red aristocracy" and the CCP's status as "perennial ruling party" do not bode well for economic, political, or cultural reforms. Lam takes a close look at Xi's ideological and political profile and considers how his conservative outlook might shape what the new strongman calls "the Great Renaissance of the Chinese race."

Book China s Political Economy In The Xi Jinping Epoch Domestic And Global Dimensions

Download or read book China s Political Economy In The Xi Jinping Epoch Domestic And Global Dimensions written by Lowell Dittmer and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2021-03-17 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes a fresh look at Chinese political economy at a key inflection point. Facing a more competitive international environment, Chinese reform has shifted from its earlier focus on economic liberalization and political decentralization to a more tightly organized, centralized form of state socialism. The Party-state's vigorous fiscal reaction to the Global Financial Crisis (2008-2009) left the country with a much improved infrastructure and greater sense of national self-assurance. The more monocratic central leadership has redoubled efforts to fight poverty and pollution, push technological innovation, and at the same time rigorously enforce ideological consensus, political loyalty and anticorruption. This has been occurring in an international context of slowing trade and nationalist pushback against 'globalization', prominently including bilateral Chinese-American polarization. While China has been among the staunchest advocates and beneficiaries of globalization, incipient trade war 'decoupling' has spurred movement toward economic and technological self-reliance. Turning inward however vies with a rival impulse toward more vigorous engagement in the world. This is most consequentially represented by the Belt and Road Initiative, driving massive infrastructure construction through Central Asia and the South and Southeast Asian maritime periphery. Despite slowing growth and a large debt overhang, swift recovery from the Covid-19 epidemic leaves China in a relatively strong economic position.

Book The Chinese Path of Rule of Law Construction

Download or read book The Chinese Path of Rule of Law Construction written by He Tian and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-09 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides law-based governance which is one of the basic policies that underpins our endeavors to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Law is the key to governing the country, and the rule of law is an important support for the national governance system and governance capacity. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC,China has implemented the four-pronged comprehensive strategy and created an unprecedented new situation for law-based governance. Further progress has been made in ensuring China’s legislation is sound, law enforcement is strict, the administration of justice is impartial, and the law is observed by everyone. China’s efforts to build a country, government, and society based on the rule of law have been mutually reinforcing; the system of distinctively Chinese socialist rule of law has been steadily improved; public awareness of the rule of law has risen markedly. In recent years, China has adhered to the correct handling of the relationship between deepening reform and law-based governance, ensuring that major reforms are justified by law and providing solid guarantees of the rule of law for reform and opening-up. China has adhered to combine law-based governance of the country and rule-based governance over the party and exercised law-based governance at every point in the process and over every dimension of full and rigorous governance over the party and has made remarkable achievements in the construction of a clean and honest government and the struggle against corruption.
