Download or read book WW Production Cross Section Measurement and Limits on Anomalous Trilinear Gauge Couplings at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cross section for WW production is measured and limits on anomalous WW[gamma] and WWZ trilinear gauge couplings are set using WW → ee/e[mu]/[mu][mu] events collected by the Run II D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider corresponding to 1 fb−1 of integrated luminosity at √s = 1.96 TeV. Across the three final states, 108 candidate events are observed with 40.8 ± 3.8 total background expected, consistent with [sigma](p{bar p} → WW) = 11.6 ± 1.8(stat) ± 0.7(syst) ± 0.7(lumi) pb. Using a set of SU(2){sub L} {direct_product} U(1){sub Y} conserving constraints, the one-dimensional 95% C.L. limits on trilinear gauge couplings are -0.63

Download or read book A Measurement of the Z Gamma Cross Section and Limits on Anomalous Triple Gauge Couplings at Square Root of S written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of the properties of the Z$\gamma$ diboson system is presented using 5.0 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data from the LHC using the CMS detector. The pp $\rightarrow Z(\rightarrow\mu \mu) \gamma$ and pp $\rightarrow Z(\rightarrow e e) \gamma$ production cross sections are measured within the fiducial volume of CMS with a combined measurement of $\sigma_{\ell\ell\gamma} = 5.33 \pm 0.08 ~\text{(stat.)} \pm 0.25 ~\text{(syst.)} \pm 0.12 ~\text{(lumi.)}$ pb that is in good agreement with Standard Model predictions. Upper limits on the neutral anomalous triple gauge couplings set are the most stringent limits on these couplings to date, with allowed regions: $-0.010

Book Measurement of the WZ Cross Section and Triple Gauge Couplings in p bar P Collisions at sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of the WZ Cross Section and Triple Gauge Couplings in p bar P Collisions at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Letter describes the current most precise measurement of the WZ production cross section as well as limits on anomalous WWZ couplings at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV in proton-antiproton collisions. The WZ candidates are reconstructed from decays containing three charged leptons and missing energy from a neutrino, where the charged leptons are either electrons or muons. Using data collected by the CDF II detector (7.1 fb−1 of integrated luminosity), 64 candidate events are observed with the expected background contributing 8 ± 1 events. The measured total cross section?(p{bar p} → WZ) = 3.93{sub -0.53}{sup +0.60}(stat){sub -0.46}{sup +0.59}(syst) pb is in good agreement with the standard model prediction of 3.50 ± 0.21. The same sample is used to set limits on anomalous WWZ couplings.

Book Measurements of the mathrm Pp to W gamma gamma and mathrm Pp to Z gamma gamma Cross Sections and Limits on Anomalous Quartic Gauge Couplings at sqrt s

Download or read book Measurements of the mathrm Pp to W gamma gamma and mathrm Pp to Z gamma gamma Cross Sections and Limits on Anomalous Quartic Gauge Couplings at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measurements are presented of $ \mathrm{ W \gamma\gamma } $ and $ \mathrm{ Z \gamma\gamma } $ production in proton-proton collisions. Fiducial cross sections are reported based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.4 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMS detector at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. Signal is identified through the $\mathrm{ W } \to \ell\nu$ and $\mathrm{ Z }\to\ell\ell$ decay modes, where $\ell$ is a muon or an electron. The production of $ \mathrm{ W \gamma\gamma } $ and $ \mathrm{ Z \gamma\gamma } $, measured with significances of 2.6 and 5.9 standard deviations, respectively, is consistent with standard model predictions. In addition, limits on anomalous quartic gauge couplings in $ \mathrm{ W \gamma\gamma } $ production are determined in the context of a dimension-8 effective field theory.

Book Measurement of W gamma and Z gamma Production in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book Measurement of W gamma and Z gamma Production in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A measurement of W-gamma and Z-gamma production in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV is presented. Results are based on a data sample recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 inverse picobarns. The electron and muon decay channels of the W and Z are used. The total cross sections are measured for photon transverse energy>10 GeV and spatial separation from charged leptons in the plane of pseudorapidity and azimuthal angle>0.7, and with an additional dilepton invariant mass requirement of> 50 GeV for the Z-gamma process. The following cross section times branching fraction values are found: sigma(pp to W-gamma+X) B(W to lepton neutrino) = 56.3 +/- 5.0 (stat.) +/- 5.0 (syst.) +/- 2.3 (lumi.) pb and sigma(pp to Z-gamma+X) B}(Z to lepton lepton) = 9.4 +/- 1.0 (stat.) +/- 0.6 (syst.) +/- 0.4 (lumi.) pb. These measurements are in agreement with standard model predictions. The first limits on anomalous WW gamma, ZZ gamma, and Z gamma gamma trilinear gauge couplings at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV are set.

Book Diboson Production Cross Sections at sqrt s

Download or read book Diboson Production Cross Sections at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increasing size of the data recorded by the CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron collider at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV makes the diboson physics program more accessible for probes of the electroweak gauge structure in the Standard Model. Here we summarize the most recent measurements of the diboson cross sections and limits on the trilinear gauge boson couplings.

Book Evidence for Exclusive gamma gamma to W W Production and Constraints on Anomalous Quartic Gauge Couplings at sqrt s

Download or read book Evidence for Exclusive gamma gamma to W W Production and Constraints on Anomalous Quartic Gauge Couplings at sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A search for exclusive or quasi-exclusive gamma-gamma to W+W- production, via pp to p(*) W+W- p(*) to p(*) mu+/- e-/+ at sqrt(s)=8 TeV, is reported using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns. Events are selected by requiring the presence of an electron-muon pair with large transverse momentum pt(mu+/- e-/+>) 30 GeV, and no associated charged particles detected from the same vertex. The 8 TeV results are combined with the previous 7 TeV results (obtained for 5.05 inverse femtobarns of data). In the signal region, 13 (2) events are observed over an expected background of 3.9 +/- 0.6 (0.84 +/-0.15) events for 8 (7) TeV, resulting in a combined excess of 3.4 sigma over the background-only hypothesis. The observed yields and kinematic distributions are compatible with the standard model prediction for exclusive and quasi-exclusive gamma-gamma to W+W- production. Upper limits on the anomalous quartic gauge coupling operators a[W;0,C] (dimension-6) and f[M0,1,2,3] (dimension-8), the most stringent to date, are derived from the measured dilepton transverse momentum spectrum.

Book Electroweak Physics at LEP and LHC

Download or read book Electroweak Physics at LEP and LHC written by Arno Straessner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-31 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During more than 10 years, from 1989 until 2000, the LEP accelerator and the four LEP experiments, ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, have taken data for a large amount of measurements at the frontier of particle physics. The main outcome is a thorough and successful test of the Standard Model of electroweak interactions. Mass and width of the Z and W bosons were measured precisely, as well as the Z and photon couplings to fermions and the couplings among gauge bosons. The rst part of this work will describe the most important physics results of the LEP experiments. Emphasis is put on the properties of the W boson, which was my main research eld at LEP. Especially the precise determination of its mass and its couplings to the other gauge bosons will be described. Details on physics effects like Colour Reconnection and Bose-Einstein Correlations in W-pair events shall be discussed as well. A conclusive summary of the current electroweak measurements, including low-energy results, as the pillars of possible future ndings will be given. The important contributions from Tevatron, like the measurement of the top quark and W mass, will round up the present day picture of electroweak particle physics.
