Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An effective plan to help those suffering from wounds inflicted by the church find spiritual healing and a renewed sense of faith. Raised as a conservative Christian, minister and author Carol Howard Merritt discovered that the traditional institutions she grew up in inflicted great pain and suffering on others. Though she loved the spirituality the church provided, she knew that, because of sexism, homophobia, and manipulative religious politics, established religious institutions weren’t always holy or safe. Instead of offering refuge, these institutions have betrayed people’s hearts and souls. “People have suffered religious abuse,” she writes, “which can be different from physical injury or psychological trauma.” Though participation and affiliation in traditional religious institutions is waning, many people still believe in God. Merritt contends that many leave the church because they have lost trust in the institution, not in God. Healing Spiritual Wounds addresses the church’s dichotomous image—as a safe space and as a dangerous place—and provides a way to restore personal faith and connection to God for those who have been hurt or betrayed by established institutions of faith. Merritt lays out a multistage plan for moving from pain to spiritual rebirth, from recovering theological and emotional shards to recovering communal wholeness. Merritt does not sugarcoat the wrongs institutions long seen as trustworthy have inflicted on many innocent victims. Sympathetic, understanding, and deeply positive, she offers hope and a way to help them heal and reclaim the spiritual joy that can make them whole again.

The purpose of this book is to help you get past your wounds...to move forward into the joy and fellowship of God's presence, claiming the fullness of the blessings He has for you. God loves the wounded. I know.' In her most personal book to date, much loved author Anne Graham Lotz looks at a deeply painful question: what to do when we suffer rejection and hardship at the hands of other believers. Drawing on the story of Hagar, Abraham's mistreated servant, Anne shares the good news of healing and hope, offered by a God who loves us all - especially those on the periphery. An inspiring blend of Old Testament narrative with the author's own experience, this is a book that will show you that, just like Hagar found, 'you can't outrun God'.

Book Wounded Woman Be Ye Healed Passing On A Legacy

Download or read book Wounded Woman Be Ye Healed Passing On A Legacy written by Desiree M Webb and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2017-03-06 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our churches are emptying. Could it be because of wounding? Many people leave and don't look back because of being wounded by wounded people. Rank is no determinant of healing as wounding affects all levels and ages. Hurtful words, interactions, and behaviors are often due to unhealed emotional wounds. Jesus is concerned about the sheep that are runaway and those who stay in an unhealed condition, wounding others. The church cannot minister victory to others effectively if it is sick emotionally. To this end, Desiree has turned the lights on in hopes of facilitating victorious healing in the body of Christ. Let this book start the conversation and the healing that we might truly reflect victory and enjoy true unity and fellowship.

Book excerpt: A radically fresh interpretation of how we can best serve others from the bestselling author of The Return of the Prodigal Son, hailed as “one of the world’s greatest spiritual writers” by Christianity Today “In our own woundedness, we can become a source of life for others.” In this hope-filled and profoundly simple book, Henri Nouwen inspires devoted men and women who want to be of service in their church or community but who have found traditional outreach alienating and ineffective. Weaving keen cultural analysis with his psychological and religious insights, Nouwen presents a balanced and creative theology of service that begins with the realization of fundamental woundedness in human nature. According to Nouwen, ministers are called to identify the suffering in their own hearts and make that recognition the starting point of their service. Ministers must be willing to go beyond their professional, somewhat aloof roles and leave themselves open as fellow human beings with the same wounds and suffering as those they serve. In other words, we heal from our wounds. The Wounded Healer is a thoughtful and insightful guide that will be welcomed by anyone engaged in the service of others.

Book Bring Em Back Alive

  • Author : Dave Burchett
  • Publisher : WaterBrook
  • Release : 2011-08-03
  • ISBN : 0307551970
  • Pages : 242 pages

Download or read book Bring Em Back Alive written by Dave Burchett and published by WaterBrook. This book was released on 2011-08-03 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was a story Jesus liked to tell. If a man owned a hundred sheep and one of them wandered away, he would, without hesitation, leave the ninety-nine and search for the one. And when he found that lost sheep he would celebrate with great joy. In the same way, Jesus concluded, our Father in heaven–like the shepherd–is unwilling for any of his sheep to be lost. Yet all too often God’s sheep do wander from the flock. Sometimes, for reasons that are hard to discern, they stray on their own. Other times they’re driven away, perhaps wounded by an unkind word or thoughtless deed. In Bring ’Em Back Alive author Dave Burchett shows us the importance of bringing these lost and wounded lambs back to the fold–or, when we’re the ones who wandered, becoming willing to return. He explains, step-by-step, how to replenish the spiritual strength of Christ’s body. And he reminds us that we, like the shepherd, can know the joy that comes when a lost sheep returns home. Every believer is a precious part of Christ’s body. When even one is missing, the church lacks power and is less than whole. Whether we’re victims, perpetrators, or innocent bystanders we’re called by God to seek restoration. And when one of God’s sheep goes missing we have no choice: We must Bring ’Em Back Alive. Includes questions at the end of each chapter for discussion and reflection.

Book Healing The Christian Wound

Download or read book Healing The Christian Wound written by Chaun Conscious and published by BookRix. This book was released on 2019-02-21 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who Am I To Speak on Christianity? About The Author I came into the world with an enormous amount of pain to. To deal with my pain I turned to religion at a very young age, namely at 10 or 11 years old. After experiencing the religion of Christianity I converted to Islam at the age of 18 and by the age of 21 I left religion entirely. At the age of 29 I embraced myself as male and I underwent a physical gender transition and at the age of 31 I went through a series of intense supernatural experiences which revealed insights previously unknown to the Planet. It is important to recognise that when I spent time as a Christian and then as a Muslim, I wholeheartedly believed in both of the faiths at the time of practicing it. As a Christian I read the Bible cover to cover and regularly attended Church and ‘cell groups’. As a Muslim I wore a headscarf, prayed 5 times a day and I wrote articles about why Islam is the perfect and true religion. This Guide is for anyone wanting to explore themselves deeper than they may have allowed themselves to whilst concentrated within the parameters of a religion - namely the monotheistic religions. I hope that it causes movement within you that feels both good to you as well as movement that feels like freeing. Healing The Christian Wound The Christian Wound it is a vibration that 89% of us hold which means that learning about it is not only important for Christians, but for us all. Put simply, the Christian Wound is the vibration which manifests into a belief that “I am wrong and there is something wrong with the world”. People with a lot of money, wealth or fame tend to not hold this vibration very strongly. This vibration is most common amongst the impoverished, the downtrodden and the ill fated. Whilst this vibration was not caused by Christianity per se, it has it’s origins in Christianity because when the vibration first arrived on planet Earth it manifested as the invention of Christianity – officially around 323 AD – that is, 323 years after the prophet Yeshua died. Yeshua is the Aramaic name for the person we in English call Jesus. Jesus Christ as a concept represents both a historical myth and a historical falsehood. There is no power in the word Jesus. Words only have power according to the meaning we as God give to them. There is no more power in the word Jesus than there is in the very offensive word 'nigger'.
