Book Proceedings of the Sixth Workshop on Algorithm Engineering and Experiments and the First Workshop on Analytic Algorithmics and Combinatorics

Download or read book Proceedings of the Sixth Workshop on Algorithm Engineering and Experiments and the First Workshop on Analytic Algorithmics and Combinatorics written by ACM Special Interest Group for Algorithms and Computation Theory and published by Siam Proceedings in Applied Ma. This book was released on 2004 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of the annual ALENEX workshop is to provide a forum for the presentation of original research in the implementation and experimental evaluation of algorithms and data structures. This research presents significant studies in experimental analysis or in the implementation, testing, and evaluation of algorithms for realistic environments and scenarios. The paper presentations address specific applied areas that present unique challenges in their underlying algorithmic problems as well as methodological issues and standards in the context of empirical research on algorithms and data structures. analysis of algorithms and associated combinatorial structures. The papers study properties of fundamental combinatorial structures that arise in practical computational applications (such as permutations, trees, strings, tries, and graphs) and address the precise analysis of algorithms for processing such structures, including average-case analysis; analysis of moments, extrema, and distributions; and probabilistic analysis of randomized algorithms. This proceedings collects extended versions of the 14 papers that were selected for presentation from the ALENEX workshop and 10 papers selected for presentation from the ANALCO workshop.

Book Modal Interval Analysis

Download or read book Modal Interval Analysis written by Miguel A. Sainz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-12-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an innovative new approach to interval analysis. Modal Interval Analysis (MIA) is an attempt to go beyond the limitations of classic intervals in terms of their structural, algebraic and logical features. The starting point of MIA is quite simple: It consists in defining a modal interval that attaches a quantifier to a classical interval and in introducing the basic relation of inclusion between modal intervals through the inclusion of the sets of predicates they accept. This modal approach introduces interval extensions of the real continuous functions, identifies equivalences between logical formulas and interval inclusions, and provides the semantic theorems that justify these equivalences, along with guidelines for arriving at these inclusions. Applications of these equivalences in different areas illustrate the obtained results. The book also presents a new interval object: marks, which aspire to be a new form of numerical treatment of errors in measurements and computations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An update on the author's previous books, this introduction to interval analysis provides an introduction to INTLAB, a high-quality, comprehensive MATLAB toolbox for interval computations, making this the first interval analysis book that does with INTLAB what general numerical analysis texts do with MATLAB.

Book Fault tolerant Control Systems

Download or read book Fault tolerant Control Systems written by Hassan Noura and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-07-30 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The seriesAdvancesinIndustrialControl aims to report and encourage te- nologytransfer in controlengineering. The rapid development of controlte- nology has an impact on all areas of the control discipline. New theory, new controllers, actuators, sensors, new industrial processes, computer methods, new applications, new philosophies. . . , new challenges. Much of this devel- ment work resides in industrial reports, feasibility study papers, and the - ports of advanced collaborative projects. The series o?ers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of such new work in all aspects of industrial control for wider and rapid dissemination. Control system design and technology continues to develop in many d- ferent directions. One theme that the Advances in Industrial Control series is following is the application of nonlinear control design methods, and the series has some interesting new commissions in progress. However, another theme of interest is how to endow the industrial controller with the ability to overcome faults and process degradation. Fault detection and isolation is a broad ?eld with a research literature spanning several decades. This topic deals with three questions: • How is the presence of a fault detected? • What is the cause of the fault? • Where is it located? However, there has been less focus on the question of how to use the control system to accommodate and overcome the performance deterioration caused by the identi?ed sensor or actuator fault.
