Book Words of Warning Annotated Updated Edition

Download or read book Words of Warning Annotated Updated Edition written by Charles H. Spurgeon and published by Aneko Press. This book was released on 2018-04-02 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He that believes in the Son has eternal life, and he that does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. (John 3:36) This book, Words of Warning, is an analysis of people and the gospel of Christ. Under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Charles H. Spurgeon sheds light on the many ways people may refuse to come to Christ, but he also shines a brilliant light on how we can be saved. Unsaved or wavering individuals will be convicted, and if they allow it, they will be led to Christ. Sincere Christians will be happy and blessed as they consider the great salvation with which they have been saved. Whether or not we look to Jesus Christ for salvation is the single most important determination we must make during our lifetime. Countless books have been written addressing just about every imaginable self-help topic. Other books are written solely for entertainment. Some of these books are okay in their own right, but what good are they to the reader if he is lost in the end? Why do we spend so much time even with good things, but neglect the great? Not one thing we can do during our seventy or eighty years on earth amounts to anything if we are not in Christ. What we do for Christ is everlasting, and by claiming our salvation in Him, we have an exceedingly bright future.

Book excerpt: Whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your slave. – Matthew 20:27 You cannot have Christ if you will not serve Him. If you take Christ, you must take Him in all His qualities. You must not simply take Him as a Friend, but you must also take Him as your Master. If you are to become His disciple, you must also become His servant. God-forbid that anyone fights against that truth. It is certainly one of our greatest delights on earth to serve our Lord, and this is to be our joyful vocation even in heaven itself: His servants shall serve Him: and they shall see His face (Revelation 22:3-4). Charles H. Spurgeon originally wrote this book for members of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Spurgeon's heartfelt writing style makes this book one that today still encourages believers to move into Christian action. He emphasizes simply moving forward, using the talents and resources you already have at your disposal, for the Lord's service and your own eternal reward. The concepts presented are easy to understand and straight-forward, if only you are ready to lay down your life to follow Christ. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Golden Alphabet is Charles Spurgeon’s exposition on Psalm 119, published originally in The Treasury of David. Upon noting that the seven-volume treasury was too large for individuals to purchase, he decided to publish smaller sections that are easier to read. “[Psalm 119], from its great length, helps us to wonder at the immensity of Scripture. From its keeping to the same subject it helps us to adore the unity of Scripture, for it is but one. Yet, from the many turns it gives to its one thought, it helps us to see the variety of Scripture. How manifold are the words and thoughts of God in his Word! Just as in creation, the wonders of his skill are displayed in many ways.” —Spurgeon Each section of this particular psalm begins with a letter in the Hebrew alphabet, earning it the nickname “The Golden Alphabet.” Readers can now enjoy reading Spurgeon’s personal thoughts and learn from his theological insight, breathing new life into this muchbeloved psalm. Key points and features: • A timeless classic, repackaged for a modern audience • Spurgeon’s exposition on Psalm 119 from his original The Treasury of David • Spurgeon’s commentaries are incredibly popular for their keen theological insights, pastoral care, and devotional nature

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In "The Thomas Factor," Gary R. Habermas presents a transformative exploration of religious doubt and its potential as a catalyst for spiritual growth. This insightful book delves into the often misunderstood territory of doubt, revealing how it can be harnessed as a powerful tool for deepening one's faith and drawing closer to God. Habermas, with his extensive experience and empathetic approach, offers a lifeline to believers struggling with uncertainties in their spiritual journey. At the heart of the book is the dissection of three types of doubt: factual, emotional, and volitional. Habermas, through his own experiences and those of the individuals he has counseled, demonstrates that doubts are not a sign of weak faith but rather an opportunity for profound personal growth. He skillfully navigates the reader through the complexities of each doubt type, providing practical strategies for overcoming them. The book is enriched with examples from both the Old and New Testaments, showcasing that doubt has been a constant companion of even the most steadfast believers throughout history. In debunking common myths about doubting, Habermas sets the stage for building a resilient foundation for faith. Practical chapters guide the reader in developing a tailored strategy to address their doubts. This includes disciplines like prayer, Scripture memorization, journaling, and practicing Christian behavior. Habermas emphasizes that working through doubts is not just an intellectual exercise but involves the whole person — emotions, will, and intellect. "The Thomas Factor" does not shy away from the tougher aspects of theological inquiry. It addresses why theological differences exist and how to live with unanswered questions, thus equipping the reader to navigate the diverse landscape of Christian thought. Habermas concludes with a thoughtful discussion on the negative and positive consequences of doubt. He illustrates how doubt, when approached correctly, can lead to a stronger, more authentic faith, likening the process to refining gold. This book is an invaluable resource for anyone grappling with doubts about their faith. It offers not only solace and understanding but also practical tools for turning doubt into a stepping stone towards a more intimate and robust relationship with God. Target Audience: "The Thomas Factor" is ideal for Christians at any stage of their faith journey, particularly those wrestling with doubts or seeking a deeper understanding of their beliefs. It is also a valuable resource for pastors, counselors, and lay leaders who provide spiritual guidance and support.

Download or read book Romans and Revelation written by Daniel Thompson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-03-11 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the book of 2 Peter, the apostle writes under inspiration that another apostle, Paul, wrote "Things, in which are some things hard to be understood" (2 Peter 3:16). Imagine, one inspired apostle, speaking about another inspired apostle's writings. But such, as any Christian will testify, is the absolute truth about Scriptures-they can be hard to comprehend! In my years interacting biblically, there are three comments I would inevitably get about three Scripture portions that reflect the statement by Peter, two sections in Paul's letter to Romans (Romans 7 and 11) and one from the Apostle John-Revelation. With John's Revelation, difficulties are universal and always the same subjects of books and conversations: "How should we read and interpret the book of Revelation with all the symbols, visions, etc.?" Anyone today will be familiar with the Left Behind series and the work that spawned many such books-The Late Great Planet Earth of the early '70s. Ideas on this book are legion.I have expounded on the first eleven chapters of Revelation-verse by verse-to attempt to show that the intended edification John had in mind when writing this work (see Revelation 1:1-3 etc.) actually was understood and edifying to the saints of the first century (and also to us). I wrote to show that if we are careful to lean on the Old Testament and its style of writing (in particular the book of Daniel), the book of Revelation turns out to be quite a straightforward work especially if we let Scripture interpret Scripture (example: Revelation 6:16 compare Luke 23:27-30). Indeed I think the truths of Revelation chapters 1 through 11 are so self-explanatory that the chapters that follow (if we keep comparing Old Testament and New Testament Scriptures) will fall quite naturally into place. Details may be tough, but general themes come out much clearer. In my life, preaching and exhortation a section of the Bible somewhat akin to the subject of Revelation would arise day in and day out: what is the meaning of Romans 11:26a, "And all Israel shall be saved," and how does it speak to the future of Israel? This verse was the central text for our greatest expository thinkers, the Puritans, and from the 1600s through the 1800s and into our twentieth century. This chapter was the basis for what was known as Puritan PostMillennialism (as opposed to the PreMillennialism of men like Tim Lahaye and Hal Lindsay). In this book, the section on Romans 11 (like Revelation and Romans 7) is handled verse by verse and is expounded systematically and slowly so that the mysteries that have often hung over Christians here might be seen in a newer, clearer light. In my travels, I've found many books, and too many conversations, approach these passages without regard to surrounding ideas. There is a desire for answers to Bible verses that, as Peter said, were hard to be understood and, without some patience, we will twist to our own harm and misunderstanding.Views are abundant when the subject is Romans 7. The inevitable comment or question-asked in multiple ways is: who is that guy in Romans 7 that cannot do what he wishes to do? It was Romans 7:13-25 that this type question arose, and I discovered over a period of a year the various views of this passage as well as the beauty, power, and answer to the question of: who is that guy in Romans s7? Indeed the study and writing of just Revelation chapters 1-11; Romans 7:13-25; and Romans 11:11-32-verse by verse-bore the fruit I believe we all desire when the going gets tough. This book is the fruit of a slow and steady exposition of these three aspects of the Scriptures: Romans 7:13-25; Romans 11:11-32; and Revelation chapters 1-11. As in any work in the Word of God, the wonders and glories you gain are incalculable.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Original Title: Daniel the Prophet. New, updated edition. Riches and honour and life are the remuneration of humility and of the fear of the LORD. – Proverbs 22:4 God will exalt us when the time is right. We needn't try to promote ourselves; we needn't struggle for position. Let God put us where He wants us and let us be true to God. It is better for a man to be right with God, even if he holds no great earthly position. It is honest and humble men whom God will promote, if He so desires. This study illustrates what Daniel did, and also what Daniel didn't do, which caught the attention of God and kings alike. Few are the men in history of Daniel's caliber, even though the principles he followed can be implemented by all. Are you ready to be a truly great man, one that will cause God and men to take notice?

Book Faithful to Christ A Challenge to Truly Live for Christ

Download or read book Faithful to Christ A Challenge to Truly Live for Christ written by Charles H. Spurgeon and published by Aneko Press. This book was released on 2019-11-30 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Only fear the Lord and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. - 1 Samuel 12:24 If there is a true faith, there must be a declaration of it. If you are a candle, and God has lit you, then let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in the heavens (Matthew 5:16). Soldiers of Christ must, like soldiers of our nation, wear their uniforms; and if they are ashamed of their uniforms, they ought to be drummed out of the army. I believe that many Christians get into a lot of trouble by not being honest in their convictions. For instance, if a person goes into a workshop, or a soldier into a barracks, and if he does not fly his flag from the beginning, it will be very difficult for him to run it up afterwards. But if he immediately and boldly lets them know, “I am a Christian, and there are certain things that I cannot do to please you, and certain other things that I cannot help doing even though they might displease you” – when that is clearly understood, after a while the peculiarity of the thing will be gone, and the person will be let alone. However, if he is a little dishonest and thinks that he is going to please the world and please Christ too, he can depend on it that he is in for a rough time. If he tries the way of compromise, his life will be like that of a toad under a harrow or a fox in a dog kennel. That will never do. Come out. Show your colors. Let it be known who you are and what you are. Although your course will not be smooth, it will certainly not be half as rough as if you tried to run with the hare and hunt with the hounds, which is a very difficult piece of business. - Charles H.
