Book Women Why Are You Weeping

Download or read book Women Why Are You Weeping written by Frank S. Morris Ph.D. and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-02-28 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian husbands are cursing, choking, punching, beating, kicking, and in some instances, using weapons to assault their wives. Women, Why Are You Weeping? describes how trust is broken and collusive alliances are formed whenever the church chooses to not get involved in family violence issues. When juxtaposed to Mary Magdalene’s traumatic discovery at the tomb that caused her to cry—“they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him”—this writing offers insight into ways Christ is poorly embodied when he is portrayed as complicitous in our unjust acts. Women, Why Are You Weeping? is an appropriate inquiry into the depth of disappointments our fellow heirs of the grace of life undergo. This question only appears twice in Scripture. In both instances, it is posed by divine beings looking into the affairs of mankind. Policy and practical change will occur when the church views the violence as a concern of all God’s people, particularly clergy. If the unredeemed can be there to listen to and comfort victims and have invested the money and time needed to give the victim/survivors the encouragement and hope they so desperately seek, how can the redeemed do less?

Book The Crying Book

Download or read book The Crying Book written by Heather Christle and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2019-11-05 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This bestselling "lyrical, moving book: part essay, part memoir, part surprising cultural study" is an examination of why we cry, how we cry, and what it means to cry from a woman on the cusp of motherhood confronting her own depression (The New York Times Book Review). Heather Christle has just lost a dear friend to suicide and now must reckon with her own depression and the birth of her first child. As she faces her grief and impending parenthood, she decides to research the act of crying: what it is and why people do it, even if they rarely talk about it. Along the way, she discovers an artist who designed a frozen–tear–shooting gun and a moth that feeds on the tears of other animals. She researches tear–collecting devices (lachrymatories) and explores the role white women’s tears play in racist violence. Honest, intelligent, rapturous, and surprising, Christle’s investigations look through a mosaic of science, history, and her own lived experience to find new ways of understanding life, loss, and mental illness. The Crying Book is a deeply personal tribute to the fascinating strangeness of tears and the unexpected resilience of joy.

She roams the waterways looking for the next generation of girls to baptize, filling them with more tears than any woman should have to hold. And there's not much they can do about the Weeping Woman except to avoid walking along the riverbank at night and to try to keep their sadness in check. That's what attracts her to them: the pain and heartache that gets passed down from one generation of women to the next.Mercy knows this, probably better than anyone. She lost her best friend to La Llorona and almost found a watery grave herself. But she survived. Only she didn't come back quite right and she knows La Llorona won't be satisfied until she drags the one soul that got away back to the bottom of the river. In a battle for her life, Mercy fights to break the chains of generational trauma and reclaim her soul free from ancestral hauntings by turning to the only things that she knows can save her: plant medicine, pulp books, and the promise of a love so strong not even La Llorona can stop it from happening. What unfolds is a stunning tale of one woman's journey into magic, healing, and rebirth.

Book excerpt: 100 days of scripture-based devotions for an intentional and abundant life rooted in Christ Why do some women seem deeply rooted in peace and joy—even in difficult circumstances—while others of us struggle daily with feelings of dissatisfaction, worthlessness, or anxiety? Being a Christian doesn’t mean we’re exempt from pain and suffering—but it does mean we are called to a higher purpose and can claim the gifts of the abundant life that Jesus promises. Sara Daigle is passionate about sharing a message of deliverance, freedom, and ultimate love with women from all places and walks of life. Her passion gave birth to this book composed in devotional form with a Bible verse and prayer for each day, focused on leading women out of the labyrinth of their own thoughts into a higher identity and value found in Christ. For those facing uncertainty and life changes, Sara reminds us that Jesus has “come to bring abundant life that doesn't end when one season flows into the next before you catch your breath.” For those who look around and see women who are prettier, more accomplished, better moms, or even “better” Christians than they are, we are shown that “There is no joy fuller than living out exactly what He's gifted us in without comparison to another.” Readers will resonate with Sara’s authentic voice, honesty about her own struggles, and the wisdom that comes through hard times and a rich relationship with God. This devotional is geared to bring even the busiest of women into daily intimacy with God. It is written to help each heart know they are not alone, but destined for a life of meaning, identity, and purpose in union with a Creator God who designed each of us just as we are.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WHY WOMEN WEEP WHY WOMEN WEEP-INTRO Let's be real. Even Jesus wept. If I have learned anything in life, I have learned that we all have to cry sometimes. Some of us will cry more and some of us will cry less. Some of us will learn our lesson the first time, and some of us will have to repeat a chaotic episode four or five times. As females, we carry a heavy load. The weight of the world is on our shoulders. We are mothers, grandmothers, aunts, wives, doctors, lawyers, teachers, authors, business owners, administrative assistants, and we work in many other professions. We are expected to do and to keep doing. We cannot fall by the wayside because so many people are depending on us. We must not fail ourselves or others, but we are human. As a result, sometimes life is going to make us sad and we will cry. But as women, who are expected to be everything to everybody, we must prevail. Even victory will not stop us from crying. Sometimes we will fall, but it is imperative that we get up again and again and again. We must teach our children, especially our girls, what is acceptable and appropriate behavior. We must insist that our girls treat other females the way they themselves want to be treated. We must consistently and constantly tell our girls that they will reap what they sow. If you sow bad seeds, you will reap a bad harvest. If you don't believe me, believe GOD. It is written in His Word. All of the poetry in this book was created by me, except one poem, which was written by Patsy Bickerstaff. Some of the poems come from my two books, Transformation of The Mind, Body & Soul and The Skin I Am In. Many of the poems came to me as I began my journey writing this book. Peace and Blessings, Alfreada Brown-Kelly
