Book Cry Like a Man

Download or read book Cry Like a Man written by Jason Wilson and published by David C Cook. This book was released on 2019-01-21 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a leader in teaching, training, and transforming boys in Detroit, Jason Wilson shares his own story of discovering what it means to “be a man” in this life-changing memoir. His grandfather’s lynching in the deep South, the murders of his two older brothers, and his verbally harsh and absent father all worked together to form Jason Wilson’s childhood. But it was his decision to acknowledge his emotions and yield to God’s call on his life that made Wilson the man and leader he is today. As the founder of one of the country’s most esteemed youth organizations, Wilson has decades of experience in strengthening the physical, mental, and emotional spirit of boys and men. In Cry Like a Man, Wilson explains the dangers men face in our culture’s definition of “masculinity” and gives readers hope that healing is possible. As Wilson writes, “My passion is to help boys and men find strength to become courageously transparent about their own brokenness as I shed light on the symptoms and causes of childhood trauma and ‘father wounds.’ I long to see men free themselves from emotional incarceration—to see their minds renewed, souls weaned, and relationships restored.”

Book My Quest to Find a Woman s Place in a Man s World Via Dolorosa

This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Katrenia Sneed Logan is a native of Roanoke Rapids, NC. She is the daughter of the late Roy and Virginia Sneed-the fourteenth of their fifteen children. At age twenty-eight, Katrenia began preaching the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The year was 1981. Since that time, she has been in demand as an inspirational conference speaker, evangelist, Bible teacher and workshop facilitator. Katrenia has written several inspirational articles which were published in Christian magazines in the United States and abroad, but A Woman's Place In A Man's World is her first book. With the scholarly and insightful assistance of a lot of good men and women, she takes us on a spiritual quest from Genesis to Revelation-traveling through time and history-in search of the "elusive territory" labeled in 19 th Century America as "the Appropriate Sphere of Woman," a.k.a. "a woman's place." The author invites you to join her on this quest. "Put on your 'thinking cap' and consider what is said, when it was said, why it was said, and more importantly, who said it. As Paul said to Timothy, 'Consider what I say, and the Lord give you understanding.' That's the goal: understanding the Truth. For it is the Truth that sets us free to become all that God called us to be."

Book The Richer Sex

Download or read book The Richer Sex written by Liza Mundy and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2013-03-19 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A revolution is under way. Within a generation, more households will be supported by women than by men. In this book the author takes us to the frontier of this new economic order. She shows us why this flip is inevitable, what painful adjustments will have to be made along the way, and how both men and women will feel surprisingly liberated in the end. Couples today are debating who must assume the responsibility of primary earner and who gets the freedom of being the slow track partner. With more men choosing to stay home, she shows how that lifestyle has achieved a higher status, and the ways males have found to recover their masculinity. And the revolution is global: she takes us from Japan to Denmark to show how both sexes are adapting as the marriage market has turned into a giant free-for-all, with men and women at different stages of this transformation finding partners who match their expectations. This book is an analysis of the most important cultural shift since the rise of feminism: the coming era in which women will earn more than men, and how this will change work, love, and sex.

Book The Face of the Firm

Download or read book The Face of the Firm written by Michele Gregory and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-02-12 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite decades of greater gender awareness at work in Western countries, gender inequality in the executive suites is alive and well. "The Face of the Firm" highlights new critical perspectives on the relationship between hegemonic masculine cultures, gender embodiment, and gender disparities in corporate organizations. Using data from over 100 interviews with female and male executives who worked for some of the most prestigious advertising and computer firms in the world, the book makes important connections between the empirical data and contemporary sexism in the United States and United Kingdom. The book refocuses the debate of executive work, organizational spaces, and gender inequality on gendered bodies at work. It also demonstrates that gendered and sexualized relations among executives often construct the production process. The book makes a contribution to masculinity, gender, and work scholarship and is organized along three key concepts: homogeneity, homosociability, and heterosexuality. These address such factors as the organizational locker room, sexual and heterosexual spaces at work, and the construction of women and men as different workers. This conceptual model is crucial for evaluating the mechanisms that support male dominance among highly skilled professionals and executives."
