Download or read book Nice Try written by Richard E. Baldwin and published by Centre for Economic Policy Research. This book was released on 2001 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: EU member nations must decide whether to ratify the Nice Treaty. This report, written to inform these decisions, is highly critical of the Treaty but argues that it should be passed since it is 'repairable' and rejecting it would delay Eastern enlargement. It proposes two 'emergency repairs' to the Treaty. The authors marshal the best available empirical evidence and analytic techniques to show that the Treaty fails to meet its goal of adjusting EU decision-making to the realities of a Union with 27& members. Far from maintaining the EU's ability to act after enlargement, the authors argue that the Nice reforms reduce EU27 decision-making efficiency below what it would have been with no reform. Unless the Treaty is mended, future integration will be guided by intergovernmental initiatives in which large members play a large role due to their economic dominance. The Treaty also fails to resolve the ECB's 'numbers problem' - enlargement without reform would also damage the ECB's decision-making capacity. The Treaty does include an 'enabling clause' to help solve this problem: the report analyses the possible solutions and proposes specific reforms.

Download or read book WINNERS MINDSET written by DAVID ADEYANJU and published by Pelican Publishers. This book was released on 2021-03-16 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We now live in a world where it is increasing becoming simple for anyone to become successful. It is now simpler than ever before for anyone to achieve greatness, than at any time in the history of the world. You no longer need to be from an aristocrat lineage or be born to a wealthy family before you can become successful and great. Comparing the proportion of the “haves” and the “have-nots” in the world today, reveals an alarming phenomenon in the growing numbers of the “have-nots.” The question is why? with the wealth of information and opportunities available to us all in this present time like never before in the recorded history of the world. Successful in life, involves not just consistently taking a series of right decisions and actions and also the ability to make those decisions right when they turn out not to be so right, but it also involves not doing the wrong things, else the impact of those opposing actions will just be cancelling each other out. It therefore holds that, success and wealth is created, just as poverty and an unsuccessful life is also created. What you choose to create is entirely up to you and solely your choice, and it is all in your control. This book clearly details those principles, with vivid illustrations and scenarios to aid an in-depth understanding so that you can begin to win and become successful. You can transform your life and your life can become great, it is all your choice and fully in your control.

Download or read book Psychological Analysis written by Adam Sarhan and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-12-29 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beat the market by using Psychological Analysis for investing and trading under any conditions Conventional wisdom tells us that people are rational and make rational decisions with their money. But that’s simply not true considering most people fail to beat the market. Conventional wisdom also tells us that there are two primary ways to approach the market: technical and fundamental analysis. Again, that is not true because if it were—everyone would be rich. Think about it, how many times have you seen stocks with poor fundamentals go up, or stocks with great technicals go down? It’s obvious that something is missing. Author Adam Sarhan, Founder and CEO of 50 Park Investments, developed a new approach, titled, Psychological Analysis (PA). Coined by the author, the term teaches you how to make rational, not emotional, decisions with your money and shows you how to analyze both the individual and collective market mindset at a particular time based on the behavior and decision-making of people in the real-world. Psychological Analysis is designed to tip the odds of success in your favor. After studying every major economic and market cycle going back to the 3rd century, the author explains that human nature is the one constant and tells you what actually drives markets. Psychological Analysis is responsible for major and minor market moves today, tomorrow, and all throughout history. Adam shows you that there are more factors that influence price than just fundamental or technical analysis and how to bring out the smart money superhero inside you. This invaluable guide helps you: Make rational, not emotional, decisions with your money—especially when you are under pressure Understand the psyche of the market so you can learn how to join the Smart Money Circle and consistently take money out Generate above average returns in all market environments Incorporate Psychological Analysis into your overall trading and investing strategy so you can make smarter decisions on and off Wall Street Psychological Analysis: How to Outsmart the Market One Trade at a Time is a must-have resource for traders, investors, finance professionals, and anyone who wants to profit regardless of market conditions.
Download or read book The Metaphorical Society written by Daniel Rigney and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2001 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the novice reader to modern social theory through the creative exploration of eight major metaphors that have shaped Western understandings of human society. Rigney vividly yet concisely examines each major theoretical perspective in sociology, including functionalism, conflict theory, rational choice, and symbolic interactionism. He shows how each of these theories is rooted in a particular metaphorical tradition. Over decades and centuries, Rigney argues, social theorists have variously likened societies to organisms and living systems, to machines, battlefields, legal systems, marketplaces, games, theatrical productions, and discourses. Most interestingly, Rigney deftly shows how nearly all Western social theories fit with one or more of the metaphors. He emphasizes a humanistic understanding of society with an emphasis on the creative agency of social actors and communities. The book offers students a rich understanding of social theory, yet it is simultaneously concise and broad ranging, allowing instructors to further pursue detailed exploration of any perspectives they choose.
Download or read book Animal Contests written by Ian C. W. Hardy and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-05-30 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contests are an important aspect of the lives of diverse animals, from sea anemones competing for space on a rocky shore to fallow deer stags contending for access to females. Why do animals fight? What determines when fights stop and which contestant wins? Addressing fundamental questions on contest behaviour, this volume presents theoretical and empirical perspectives across a range of species. The historical development of contest research, the evolutionary theory of both dyadic and multiparty contests, and approaches to experimental design and data analysis are discussed in the first chapters. This is followed by reviews of research in key animal taxa, from the use of aerial displays and assessment rules in butterflies and the developmental biology of weapons in beetles, through to interstate warfare in humans. The final chapter considers future directions and applications of contest research, making this a comprehensive resource for both graduate students and researchers in the field.
