I’ve paid a high price wanting to get lost in the club’s darkness. I will never be the same again. Being the president’s daughter is everything but a blessing. All the Wild Crows’ loved ones live with a target on their back, including the kids. Horror is knocking at our door. In this race against time, hardships bring wounded souls together. There’s no room for reason anymore. The only things left are this raw and intense emotion, and these eyes I get lost into… Flying away with ravens is an exhilarating thing. Each moment of happiness is as intense as it is fleeting, so we live every single one of them to its fullest. ________________ VOLUME 2 / 5 Slow burn Romance Triggers : violence ________________ "Always wild crows... Book excerpt: I live to wipe out his kind. But he might be my last hope. I am Harper Jones, a specialist in occult sciences and a vampire hunter. My childhood conditioned me to hate them and hunt them down, and for years I have worked towards one single goal: avenging my family. When a series of suspicious murders terrifies London, I redouble my efforts to rid the city of monsters, even if this means joining forces with my worst enemies. Their condition: a chaperon of their choosing. A certain Lysandre, another vampire, a master in the art of making things hard for me. But this is not the most disturbing aspect of my life. Something is dormant within me: a darkness that is taking me over, swallowing me up... Why does this vampire seem to know about the evil eating away at me? What does he know about my past? This quest for the truth might very well cost me my soul, along with my heart.

He seems even more lost than I am. What if he’s the one needing saved? To fight against a crazy king’s cruelty, I’ll need to draw on my true nature, and, like a phoenix, rise from my ashes...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The God of the Bible often speaks in poetry. Beginning with an illuminating exploration of eloquence in the divine voice, a highly acclaimed professor of literature opens up the treasury of biblical tradition among English poets both past and present, showing them to be well attuned not only to Scripture's meaning but also to its music. In exploring the work of various poets, David Lyle Jeffrey demonstrates how the poetry of the Bible affords a register of understanding in which the beauty of Holy Scripture deepens meditation on its truth and is indeed a vital part of that truth.

Book Englishness and Post imperial Space

Download or read book Englishness and Post imperial Space written by Milton Sarkar and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2016-02-08 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Englishness and Post-imperial Space: The Poetry of Philip Larkin and Ted Hughes probes into the English mindset immediately after the British withdrawal from the colonies, and examines how the loss of power and global prestige affected contemporary poetry, particularly that of Philip Larkin and Ted Hughes. Frustration and disillusionment, even anger, characterised the era and many of the literary works the period produced. Most writers became insular and were obsessed with the ‘English’ elements in their writing. The great, international and cosmopolitan themes (of Eliot, for instance) were replaced by those of narrow domestic importance. It is in such a context, this book argues, that Larkin and Hughes returned to the old England, most notably to the themes of gradually vanishing pristine landscape and national myths and legends, to the archetypal English customs and conventions. It examines their poetry mainly from the perspective of Englishness, a burgeoning area of academic interest. Intricately connected with the values emanating from England as a geographical and socio-cultural space, Englishness as a concept is intrinsic to the identity of a people who gradually became globally powerful. The loss of empire dealt a severe blow to this sense of the self. This book explores the dynamics of the representation of this sense of loss and the frustration it produced in the poems of Larkin and Hughes.

Find out what happens next in The Foretelling of Georgie Spider. Join the Tribe at http://www.thefirstwood.com.au/ “The book is entertaining, engaging and certainly offers moments of suspense for those looking for an interesting YA sci-fi series with a difference. For those who prefer more thoughtful, thought-provoking stories, The Tribe offers plenty of opportunities to consider deeper themes such as identity, the role of technology in society, the definition of humanity, environmental issues, our deeper connection with the environment, and our personal and spiritual heritage.” Kids’ Book Review “The second book in this spectacular series is even better than the first. The language retains the lyrical prose and stunning descriptions of the first book. Get settled in a comfortable chair or against pillows for there’ll be no breaks during this riveting read.” Buzz Words Books “The Disappearance of Ember Crow’ is a fantastic instalment in what is fast becoming my favourite new Aussie YA series. Here is a book that is twisting and compelling, beautifully plotted for maximum sucker-punching, and in which all the characters we met and fell for in ‘Ashala Wolf’ are being teased out with the promise of further, tricky exploration.” AlphaReader “Highly recommended … Once again Kwaymullina has written an outstanding story with plenty of surprises in it to make the reader think. This is written in smooth, flowing prose that is easy to read. However the themes are complex and fascinating, making it a challenging and thought provoking novel. It is science fiction with a dystopian theme at its best.” ReadPlus “The Tribe series is phenomenal. Rarely does book two in any series live up to our expectations, but The Disappearance of Ember Crow intensifies the action, the intrigue and adds the extra element of introducing new characters and a science fiction storyline. I loved it immensely. Ambelin is a storyteller, she creates magical and intriguing worlds that you can't help but be immediately drawn into. With an impeccable writing style, the fusion of fantasy, dystopian science fiction and romance is breathtaking.” Diva Booknerd

Book Shakespeare Upstart Crow to Sweet Swan

Download or read book Shakespeare Upstart Crow to Sweet Swan written by Katherine Duncan-Jones and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2014-02-13 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An original and provocative study of the evolution of Shakespeare's image, building on the success of Duncan-Jones' acclaimed biography, Shakespeare: An Ungentle Life. Taking a broadly chronological approach, she investigates Shakespeare's changing reputation, as a man, an actor and a poet, both from his own viewpoint and from that of his contemporaries. Many different categories of material are explored, including printed books, manuscripts, literary and non-literary sources. Rather than a biography, the book is an exploration with biographical elements. The change in public opinion in Shakespeare's time is quite startling: Henry Chettle attacked him as an 'upstart Crow' in 1592, an attack from which Shakespeare sought to defend himself; and yet by the time of the First Folio in 1623 he had become the 'Sweet Swan of Avon!' and was fast becoming the national treasure he remains today. This engaging and fascinating study brings the politics and fashions of Shakespeare's literary and theatrical world vividly to life.
