  • Author : Dietlind Hüchtker
  • Publisher : Routledge

Download or read book History as Performance written by Dietlind Hüchtker and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-09-06 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study analyzes history as performance: as the interaction of actors, plays, stages and enactments. By this, it examines women’s politics in Habsburg Galicia around 1900: a Polish woman active in the peasant movement, a Ukrainian feminist, and a Jewish Zionist. It shows how the movements constructed essentialistically regarded collectives, experience as a medially comprehensible form of credibility, and a historically based inevitability of change, and legitimized participation and intervention through social policy and educational practices. Traits shared by the movements included the claim to interpretive sovereignty, the ritualization of participation, and the establishment of truths about past and future.

Book Feminist Activism Travel and Translation Around 1900

Download or read book Feminist Activism Travel and Translation Around 1900 written by Johanna Gehmacher and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-26 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book takes the biographical case of German feminist Käthe Schirmacher (1865–1930), a multilingual translator, widely travelled writer of fiction and non-fiction, and a disputatious activist to examine the travel and translation of ideas between the women’s movements that emerged in many countries in the late 19th and early 20th century. It discusses practices such as translating, interpreting, and excerpting from journals and books that spawned and supported transnational civic spaces and develops a theoretical framework to analyse these practices. It examines translations of literary, scholarly and political texts and their contexts. The book will be of interest to academics as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students in the fields of modern history, women’s and gender history, cultural studies, transnational and transfer history, translation studies, history and theory of biography.

Book The Struggle for Female Suffrage in Europe

Download or read book The Struggle for Female Suffrage in Europe written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2012-06-07 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whilst scholarship on women’s suffrage usually focuses on a few emblematic countries, The Struggle for Female Suffrage in Europe casts a comparative look at the articulation of women’s suffrage rights in the countries that now make up the political-unity-in-the-making we call the European Union. The book uncovers the dynamics that were at play in the recognition of male and female suffrage rights and in the definition of male and female citizenship in modern Europe. It allows readers to identify differences and commonalities in the histories of women’s disenfranchisement and sheds light on the role suffrage has played in the construction of female citizenship in European countries. It provides the background against which a new European paradigm of parity democracy is gradually asserting itself.

Book Ein Platz f r sich selbst

Download or read book Ein Platz f r sich selbst written by Anne Bollmann and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2011 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. The present volume focuses on the rules and customs which determined the activity of female writers in the transition from the late Middle Ages to the early modern period. The topics include the connections between specific religious and cultural processes of change, the praxis of women writers, and women's understanding of their own role as authors. In this context, particular attention is given to the various routes taken by female authors of this period in order to express themselves in print, to disseminate their texts, and to engage in intellectual networking. On the one hand, therefore, the focus lies on the communicative space within which female authors in the late Middle Ages and early modern times operated, and, on the other, on the forms of communication which they chose for their literary creativity. Taken together, the areas and forms of communication constitute the basis of what can be documented concerning the interaction between the larger processes of change within society and the women's authorial activity.

Book Feministische Philosophie in europ ischem Kontext

Download or read book Feministische Philosophie in europ ischem Kontext written by Ivanka Raĭnova and published by Böhlau Verlag Wien. This book was released on 2010 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Biblical Women in Patristic Reception Biblische Frauen in patristischer Rezeption

Download or read book Biblical Women in Patristic Reception Biblische Frauen in patristischer Rezeption written by Agnethe Siquans and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2017-09-11 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Kampf um feministische Geschichten written by Annemarie Tröger and published by Wallstein Verlag. This book was released on 2021-05-26 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
