Book Wideband Transition with Microstrip and CPW and Directional Coupler with Microstrip and CPW

Download or read book Wideband Transition with Microstrip and CPW and Directional Coupler with Microstrip and CPW written by Swapna Male and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Directional couplers are often used in microwave systems to combine or divide RF signals. Usually, directional couplers are designed with the same transmission line technology like all microstrip lines or all CPW transmission lines. However, here we present a directional coupler using two different transmission line technologies. Therefore, the second part presents design of directional coupler with a combination of microstrip and CPW. The proposed directional coupler uses one single dielectric substrate. This is unlike similar directional coupolers that use the microstrip line technology, but with two stacked dielectric substrates. In order to develop the design equations for the directional couopler with combination of microstrip and CPW, which is not a symmetrical structure, the characteristic impedance and coupling factor expressions for the asymmetrical structure are derived and verified. Desired dimensions of the coupling section for 3dB coupling and 50 Ohms characteristic impedance are estimated by numerical interpolation. Finally, the coupler with microstrip and CPW is designed. Good coupling characteristics were achieved and verified with different simulation softwares like IE3D and HFSS.

Book A Novel Microstrip to Coplanar Waveguide Transition for Flip chip Interconnection Using Electromagnetic Coupling

Download or read book A Novel Microstrip to Coplanar Waveguide Transition for Flip chip Interconnection Using Electromagnetic Coupling written by and published by . This book was released on 1910 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A novel compact microstrip to coplanar waveguide (CPW) transition is proposed for flip-chip interconnection. Broadband performance of the transition is simulated and agrees well with measured results. A good interconnection between microstrip line on a motherboard to CPW on a flip-chip is accomplished without any vias. For 10dB return loss, the microstrip-to-CPW transition and the microstrip-to-flip-chip interconnection present 170% and 140% bandwidth, respectively.

Coplanar Waveguide Circuits, Components, and Systems is an engineer's complete resource, collecting all of the available data on the subject. Rainee Simons thoroughly discusses propagation parameters for conventional coplanar waveguides and includes valuable details such as the derivation of the fundamental equations, physical explanations, and numerical examples. Coverage also includes: Discontinuities and circuit elements Transitions to other transmission media Directional couplers, hybrids, and magic T Microelectromechanical systems based switches and phase shifters Tunable devices using ferroelectric materials Photonic bandgap structures Printed circuit antennas

This book was released on 2014-04-09 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the theory, analysis, and design of ultra-wideband (UWB) radar and sensor systems (in short, UWB systems) and their components. UWB systems find numerous applications in the military, security, civilian, commercial and medicine fields. This book addresses five main topics of UWB systems: System Analysis, Transmitter Design, Receiver Design, Antenna Design and System Integration and Test. In the System Analysis chapter, the UWB principle of operation as well as the power budget analysis and range resolution analysis are presented. In the UWB Transmitter Design chapter, the design, fabrication and measurement of impulse and monocycle pulse generators are covered. The UWB Receiver Design chapter addresses the design and measurement of the strobe pulse generator, sampling mixer, low-noise amplifier and synchronous sampling receiver. Next, the UWB Antenna Design chapter details the design and measurement of to two UWB antennas: the microstrip quasi-horn antenna and the UWB uniplanar antenna. The System Integration and Test chapter covers the transmission-reception test, signal processing, system integration, and evaluation of the UWB sensor. The final chapter provides a summary and conclusion of the work.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The definitive text on microwave ring circuits-now better than ever For the past three decades, the ring resonator has been widely used in such applications as measurements, filters, oscillators, mixers, couplers, power dividers/combiners, antennas, and frequency-selective surfaces, to name just a few. The field has continued to expand, with many new analyses, models, and applications recently reported. The second edition has been thoroughly revised to reflect the most current developments in the field. In addition to updating all the original material, the authors have added extensive new coverage on: * A universal model for both rectangular and circular ring configurations * Applications of ring structures for all types of planar circuits * A new transmission line analysis * An abundance of new applications in bandpass and bandstop filters, couplers, oscillators, and antennas While retaining all the features that made the original text so useful to both students and teachers in the field, the second edition seeks to introduce the analysis and models of ring resonators and to apply them to both the old and the new applications, including microstrip, slotline, coplanar waveguide, and waveguide transmission lines. Based on dissertations and papers published by graduate students, scholars, and research associates at A&M University, Microwave Ring Circuits and Related Structures, Second Edition is sure to be a valuable addition to both engineering classrooms and research libraries in the field.

Book Networks and Devices Using Planar Transmissions Lines

Download or read book Networks and Devices Using Planar Transmissions Lines written by Franco Di Paolo and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A single text that incorporates all of the theoretical principles and practical aspects of planar transmission line devices - since the early development of striplines, it has been sought by countless microwave engineers, researchers, and students. With the publication of Networks and Devices Using Planar Transmission Lines, the search for that one authoritative resource is over. This is more than just a handbook, much more than a theoretical treatment. It's the ideal integration of the theory and applications of planar transmission lines and devices. Striplines, microstrips, slot lines, coplanar waveguides and strips, phase shifters, hybrids, and more - the author examines them all. For each type of structure, his treatment is complete and self-contained, including: Geometric characteristics Electric and magnetic field lines Solution techniques for the electromagnetic problem Quasi-static, coupled modes, and full wave analysis methods Design equations Attenuation Practical considerations Of particular interest is the author's comprehensive treatment of planar ferrimagnetic devices, such as phase shifters, isolators, and circulators, and three appendices dedicated to the theoretical aspects of ferrimagetism. Five other appendices provide thorough reviews of various theoretical concepts implicit in the body of the work, such as wave theory, the external properties of networks, and resonant circuits.

Book Directional Coupler Design Using Coplanar Waveguide

Download or read book Directional Coupler Design Using Coplanar Waveguide written by Earl W. Williams and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) is a surface transmission line having properties that make it attractive for microwave integrated circuit applications. The CPW was investigated primarily to develop a design procedure for a directional coupler; however, it was necessary to first determine the effects of a finite substrate thickness on the effective dielectric constant. A Schwarz-Christoffel transformation was used to map the CPW boundaries into a rectangular region to simplify the analysis. (Modified author abstract).
