Book excerpt: Kidnapping Jesus is an action-adventure novel and is based on fact and imagination. Kidnapping Jesus was discussed and parts of it were written and re-written over fifteen years. Bringing to life an action-adventure story of this magnitude was a challenge, but well worth the emotional roller coaster for the authors and those who helped with their ideas. The major characters are based on the real-life adventures of six Marines. Kidnapping Jesus, the beginning of this trilogy, leads to a final climax with Retribution and immerses the reader in a journey through time. Beginning with the crucifixion of Christ over 2,000 years ago and spiraling through time to Vietnam and Beirut. Our next stops on this journey include Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Hindu Kush mountains in pursuit of the Al Queda leadership responsible for our Nation's 911. Following the exciting early adventures in this trilogy, COBALT's team leader, John Elder, is approached by one of the wealthiest men in the world, George E. Hastings III, the Owner of BIOTECH150, the largest biotechnical company in the World. Located in his mansion is a very old parchment...it was from the Roman Centurion, Casca Rufio Longinus with these words spoken to him by Jesus... WHEN MAN BECOMES WORTHY, I SHALL RETURN TO EARTH.WE SHALL MEET AGAIN. CASCA RUFIO LONGINUS Elements of betrayal at the highest levels with lasting consequences occur and lead you on a journey with Echoes from the Past and continue with a future Breach of Faith. The tantalizing prospect of Jesus communicating directly with mankind raises profound questions about existence, purpose, and the choices that shape our collective destiny. Rooted in stark reality yet fueled by boundless imagination, "Kidnapping Jesus" is a testament to the power of storytelling and the enduring quest for truth. From its humble beginnings in 1997 to its first publication in 2009, this trilogy has evolved into a literary odyssey that challenges readers to confront the mysteries of faith, humanity, and the fabric of mankind's existence. Brace yourself for an unforgettable journey that will test the limits of your imagination and leave you questioning everything you thought you knew!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ***SEE BELOW FOR AN IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!*** While the dawn of the new millennium has brought an unprecedented interest to the field of New Testament studies and the search for the historical Jesus, a critical piece in early Christian development has been noticeably absent: Tertullus laid charges against Paul in the following address to the governor: "Your Excellency we have found him to be a troublemaker a ringleader of the sect known as the Nazarenes Paul said "I admit that I follow the Way, which they call a sect. I worship the God of our ancestors, and I firmly believe the Jewish law and everything written in the books of prophecy. I have hope in God, just as these men do, that he will raise both the righteous and the ungodly." Acts 24:2,5,11-15 (NLT) Put simply, the world has so embraced the story of how the apostle Paul took a small Jewish apocalyptic sect and transformed it into a global Gentile movement, that it has forgotten the very first followers of Jesus, otherwise known as "Nazarenes". What were they like, and how did their beliefs differ from the Roman based model that sprang up later? Even from the Catholic fathers, we are given some tantalizing clues: "But these sectarians did not call themselves Christians, but "Nazarenes," however they are simply complete Jews. They use not only the New Testament but the Old Testament as well, as the Jews do They have no different ideas, but confess everything exactly as the Law proclaims it and in the Jewish fashion, except for their belief in the Messiah, if you please! For they acknowledge both the resurrection of the dead and the divine creation of all things, and declare that God is one, and that His Son is Y'shua the Messiah. They are trained to a nicety in Hebrew. For among them the entire Law, Prophets and the Writings are read in Hebrew, as they surely are by the Jews. They are different from the Jews, and different from Christians, only in the following. They disagree with the Jews for they have come to faith in Messiah; but since they are still fettered with the Law circumcision and the Sabbath, and the rest they are not in accord with Christians They have the Good News according to Matthew in its entirety in Hebrew. For it is clear they still preserve this, in the Hebrew alphabet, as it was originally written." Epiphanus; Panarion 29 (fourth century) Are these Nazarenes actually the unknown continuation of the Apostle Paul's ministry? What about the "Jerusalem Church" mentioned so frequently by Paul and headed up by Peter and James the Just? Why is it only now that we can tell the story of Christendom's most influential group throughout its first fifty years and above all what happened to them? Furthermore, even a casual glance at any New Testament will show the Gospel of Matthew given the honor of being the first book in the collection. Such an arrangement, directly derived from ancient belief of what was written when, is currently ignored because modern scholarship accords this honor to Mark. Similarly, while the scholarly world has all but forgotten the Nazarenes, they have proclaimed almost universally that the New Testament was originally written in Greek, despite strong early testimony and clear textual evidence to the contrary. However, since the fourth century, the Nazarenes at some time seem to have vanished off the face of the earth. As a result, their existence has now been rendered into little more than a footnote in history, and their connection to the original Christian movement and their Semitic scriptures, have been believed to be lost forever. That is, until now. Now, for the first time, a modern Nazarene breaks his silence and details the results of more than four years of research in his provocative new book "Signs of the Cross". As a work destined to turn upside down the current Greek compositional model of the New Testament, "Signs of the Cross" breaks new grou

Book excerpt: From one of the most daring and sensuous young writers in America, Jesus Saves, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, is a suburban gothic that explores the sources of evil, confronts the dynamic shifts within theology, and traces the consequences of suburban alienation. Set in the modern launch pads of adolescent ritual, the strip malls and duplexes on the back side of suburbia, it’s the story of two girls: Ginger, a troubled minister’s daughter; and Sandy Patrick, who has been abducted from summer camp and now smiles from missing-child posters all over town. Layering the dreamscapes of Alice in Wonderland with the subculture of River’s Edge, Darcey Steinke’s Jesus Saves is an unforgettable passage through the depths of the literary imagination.

Book Kidnapped by the Vatican

Download or read book Kidnapped by the Vatican written by Vittorio Messori and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2017-08-31 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1888 Fr. Edgardo Mortara wrote his autobiography so that the world would understand he had not been kidnapped by the Vatican. Here, along with a thorough introduction by Vittorio Messori, his story is published for the first time in English. As an infant, Mortara was on the point of death and secretly baptized by a Catholic servant employed by his family. He recovered his health, and in the Papal States where his family lived, the law required that he, like other baptized children, receive a Christian education. After several failed attempts to persuade his parents to enroll him in a local Catholic school, in 1858 Pope Pius IX had the boy taken from his family in Bologna and sent to a Catholic boarding school in Rome. There the child grew in Faith and eventually responded to the calling to become a Catholic priest. The Mortara Case reverberated around the world. Journalists, politicians, and Jewish leaders tried to pressure Pius IX to reverse his decision. The pope's refusal to do so was used as one of the reasons to dissolve the Papal States in 1870. Currently the case is being used as an argument against the canonization of Pius IX, whom John Paul II beatified in 2000.

Book excerpt: THE PROPHETS HAVE SPOKEN! The Kingdom is Near...The Message is Clear...The Time is Now! Man has hijacked the original biblical faith of the Messiah and his Apostles, and the true Judeo-Christian history behind it, separating us from our Creator. Dive into this living, breathing faith-based history which confronts our prejudices and bad misconceptions that have developed over centuries of doctrinal controversies, spiritual conflicts and bad politics masquerading as faith, keeping us from the Scripture's pure message and vision. This book is not a clinical or academic historical exercise but a refreshing return to original Bible teachings and message, including the surprising facts that some of the Early Church Fathers knew the Name of God Almighty and kept Passover and all the Feasts in the Scripture. Over the centuries, wars, politics and powerful forces of deception have conspired against the single faith vision at the Last Supper creating more than 41,000 sects and denominations of Christianity today. But now that the truth has returned, nothing will ever be the same again. We take a bold and unflinching look at how the great "bait and switch" happened; from Walking with the Almighty to walking with man. Retrace the faith journey, from Abraham the Hebrew, to his descendants the Jewish people and onwards to the Christians over the ages-all whom have been blessed by God Almighty but have also strayed and sinned against Him. Nevertheless God, in His infinite mercy, has provided a way for us to return to Him, and each other, in a worldwide community of faith, by rediscovering our spiritual DNA. Nearly 2,000 years ago, the Apostle Paul warned us about the strong delusion, that the faithful will believe a lie (2 Thessalonians 2:11), perverting the Gospel and preaching a false Jesus with a different spirit (2 Corinthians 11:4). Now in our time, this is happening before our very eyes, and the entire Christian world is blind to it! What lessons from going astray can we still learn to guide our path back to Him? And, most importantly, has the time finally come to take a stand for the truth of the original Gospel as it was before the later Judeo-Christian traditions emerged from synagogue and church? Join us on a truly global and millennia-spanning journey as the Scriptures and wider history reveal how God has left a remnant to return us from exile. From the earliest primordial moments in Genesis to the deep prophetic trends guiding us today, see how we got to where we are now and how we can come home to prepare for the Second Coming of the Messiah!

Book excerpt: The backstory of finding Elizabeth Smart and how growing up in the Mormon culture pushed the author to develop the exact kind of intuition that was needed to help manage Elizabeth’s kidnapping and rescue while the world watched. Chris Thomas is not yet thirty years old when he finds himself managing the immense pressure, eccentric personalities, and extenuating circumstances of an international story, where one small misstep could adversely impact the search for a missing teenager and the reputation of her family. Now, twenty years later, Thomas takes readers behind the scenes, providing new details, perspectives, and commentary on finding Elizabeth Smart. In the process of reflecting on Elizabeth’s search and rescue, Thomas discovers how growing up in the culture of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly known as Mormon) helped push him to develop the exact kind of intuition needed to manage Elizabeth’s kidnapping and rescue, and to do so while the world watched. Unexpected juxtaposes crucial events from the Smart case with Thomas’s experience growing up in the Latter-day Saint culture, including coming to understand the secret of a broken war hero before it was too late.

Book The Hidden Life of Jesus Christ

Download or read book The Hidden Life of Jesus Christ written by Bill Worth and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2011-09-02 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hidden Life of Jesus Christ: A Memoir, is a metaphysical novel that speculates on what Jesus was doing between the age of 12, when he appeared in the temple in Jerusalem; and age 30, when he began his ministry in Galilee. The novel was written by Bill Worth, a retired Unity minister and a former newspaper editor and publisher. Worth believes Jesus was born a human being, like the rest of us, and learned how to perform the "signs and wonders" of the New Testament by studying with the mystical Essenes in Israel and traveling to Egypt, India, and the Himalayan mountains, where he spent years at the feet of sages and avatars. What he learned there enabled him to create the “miracles” as related in the New Testament gospels: raising the dead; healing the blind, the sick, and the lame; and calming storms. From the masters of the Far East, he learned to access higher physical and spiritual laws – so much so that he was able to raise the vibration of his own body and escape the tomb. This novel features unforgettable characters, including Mary Magdalene, the love of Jesus' life; Amad, the bandit trader who kidnapped Jesus but later became a fast friend; John the Baptist, who constantly challenged Jesus' belief system; Maya, Amad's feisty mother-in-law who taught Jesus about the Buddha; and Om, the irascible dwarrow who forced him to learn how to access – and use – the higher laws. And the novel answers these controversial questions: did Jesus have an intimate relationship with Mary Magdalene? If so, what was the outcome? Did he really die on the cross, or did he spend his old age in India? The central theme of this novel centers on the words of Jesus, as recorded by the apostle John, in Chapter 14, Verse 12 of his gospel: "Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father."

The threats of the rebels on Lorna's cellphone: "Pick a coffin! We're sending him back to you in a coffin!" With each phone call Nick made to her, she was painfully aware of the torture and beatings inflicted on him, while the rebels desperately tried to raise the ransom through the only way, they knew how, violence and impending death. "Please, help me! Help me! They are going to shoot me!" Lorna was shattered by his desperate pleas while the negotiators continued their cat and mouse game over the ransom for her husband's life. Fear wanted to devour them both alive as the hours turned to days. Both Nick and Lorna recount the traumatizing details of Nick's abduction. Lorna frantically tries to remain strong for her three daughters and what she believes to be, her dying husband. Throughout, she was constantly confronted with a choice. The choice to believe the harsh reality in front of her, or the written Word of God. Kidnapped is the gut-wrenching true story of a ten-day ordeal in which Nick fought for his life and sanity from one torturous moment to the next. Lorna on the other hand, was faced with a daily battle to keep her eyes fixed on her faith in Psalm 91, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Almighty" and "For He will command angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." It is very well written and speaks to your heart. Brilliant. Loved it." - Carien Bosman "I was privileged to read "Kidnapped" where Lorna Greyling shares her experiences of the time when her husband was kidnapped. I have never been touched so deeply by the raw emotion capture in her book. It felt like I was a witness to her soul in every moment. I felt every hurt, every anxious moment, every deep emotion, every fear. The realization that it actually happened exactly as she recalled it made the experience of reading this book so intense and very, very real. I can highly recommend this book - it's one you can't put down!" -Monica Coetzee "As I read the book, I just found peace and I know God is watching over me/us and the trials that we come across. When I was busy reading, I had tears rolling down, you also gave me courage to stay in the presence of the Lord. As Matthew 11:28 has said: that He will lighten up our heavy loads, as my situation is not like Nick's, but I also in a trying time and you just strengthen me as you walk with Him in so much Faith in Jesus' name, Amen. I just finished reading, but I want to read it again and again. You are such a God-fearing and so much blessed family, and you inspire us so much and to trust in Him no matter how the situation seemingly impossible. You also showed us that nothing is impossible with God. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BLESSINGS ME WITH THIS BOOK." - Joyce Malatjie MORE REVIEWS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE BOOK

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do we respond in the face of evil, especially to those who inflict grave evil upon us? Abducted in Iraq is Bishop Saad Sirop Hanna’s firsthand account of his abduction in 2006 by a militant group associated with al-Qaeda. As a young parish priest and visiting lecturer on philosophy at Babel College near Baghdad, Fr. Hanna was kidnapped after celebrating Mass on August 15 and released on September 11. Hanna’s plight attracted international attention after Pope Benedict XVI requested prayers for the safe return of the young priest. The book charts Hanna’s twenty-eight days in captivity as he struggles through threats, torture, and the unknown to piece together what little information he has in a bid for survival. Throughout this time, he questions what a post-Saddam Hussein Iraq means for the future, as well as the events that lead the country on that path. Through extreme hardship, the young priest gains a greater knowledge both of his faith and of remaining true to himself. This riveting narrative reflects the experience of persecuted Christians all over the world today, especially the plight of Iraqi Christians who continue to live and hold their faith against tremendous odds, and it sheds light on the complex political and spiritual situation that Catholics face in predominantly non-Christian nations. More than just a personal story, Abducted in Iraq is also Hanna’s portrayal of what has happened to the ancient churches of one of the oldest Christian communities and how the West’s reaction and inaction have affected Iraqi Christians. More than just a story of one man, it is also the story of a suffering and persecuted people. As such, this book will be of great interest to those wanting to learn more about the violence in the Middle East and the threats facing Christians there, as well all those seeking to strengthen their own faith.
