Book excerpt: Our lives are always changing, and it can be confusing when we are in the middle of some new thing God is doing in us. But if we are aware of who God is and how he works, change can be a little less intimidating and a little more faith-building; our eyes can see a little more clearly and our hearts trust a little more deeply as God shapes and molds us. This book is full of whispers: whispers of truth, hope, and love. I know that sometimes truth is hard to hear when someone is shouting it, so I whispered it. I know how hard it is when the future seems desperate and impossible, so I whispered hope. And as for the whispers of love, I hope you hear them deeply; I wrote them, but they are from God. For he is the one who knows you best and loves you most; he is the one with the plan and the purpose, the presence and the power to transform your life. He is the one who wonderfully made you in the beginning, and he is the one who can see the beautiful creation you are ... and are becoming. I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Philippians 1:6 (NLT).

Book excerpt: A still, small voice. A pen in hand. A life forever changed. For the Father to give a fresh glimpse into His heart is grace-undeniably. For Him to open up our minds and our ears to hear is mercy-unquestionably. Will you enter in with me? Will you sit at His feet and rest with me for a while? As you open the pages of this book, breathe in deeply, beloved. He is here. Twelve years ago, Laura Wilcott felt like no matter what she did, she couldn't connect with God. And God, in his infinite mercy, began telling her to repent. In the past, God had spoken to her through Bible verses and circumstances in her life, but this was different. This was direct communication with the God of the universe. Life for Laura would never be the same. Over the years, God began waking her up in the middle of the night and talking to her, and Laura would write down what He said word for word. After filling more than ten journals, Laura felt led to share these encounters with others so they may know that God is way more merciful, loving, and righteous than we could ever imagine. He who spoke the world into existence, who knows our strengths and weaknesses intimately, wants to speak with each one of us and through that communion change our lives forever. Still your mind and let your heart be moved by Whispers of Mercy.

When you enjoy the presence of God through His daily whispers and the sweetness of His love, things on earth will grow strangely dim in the light of glory and grace. The delight and joy of the Lord surpasses any pain and suffering of the work we are called to do for His glory. It is the Creator's desire to communicate Himself to His created. We only need to seek God daily in simple moments and entertain His presence, for Him to start to communicate and reveal His glory. Discerning God's whispers takes practice. It doesn't happen overnight. Over time, you will find yourself turning to Him frequently to enjoy these mysterious whispers and then, suddenly, you'll find your prayers life has become more active and alive. The God Who Whispers will invite you into the authors' personal stories and remind the reader to listen for His still, small voice and then reply, as Samuel did, "Speak Lord, for your servant is listening."

Book excerpt: This WWII history examines an early British commando raid on Nazi occupied France through extensive interviews with survivors from both sides. On March 28th, 1942, a combined force of British Commandos and Royal Navy disembarked for the Atlantic coast of Nazi-occupied France. Their mission, Operation Chariot, was a daring amphibious attack on a fortified drydock in the port of Saint-Nazaire. The obsolete destroyer HMS Campbeltown was packed with delayed-action explosives and rammed into the gates of Normandie Dock. Though the dock was destroyed, the underequipped raiding party faced an overwhelming counter-attack. Though the St. Nazaire raid was a significant event in the evolution of special warfare tactics, it has not been studied in detail. Historian James Dorrian draws on interviews with more than a hundred survivors, both British and German, to present this remarkable account. Storming St. Nazaire covers all aspects of the engagement, including the final ironic incident that resulted in more German casualties than the main battle itself.
