As if this male-dominated society was not enough, my mother also suffered from abandonment from her mother (my grandmother), who was disappointed in her for her untimely pregnancy. Book A Comprehensive Guide to Child Psychotherapy and Counseling

Download or read book A Comprehensive Guide to Child Psychotherapy and Counseling written by Christiane Brems and published by Waveland Press. This book was released on 2008-03-19 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christiane Brems, an experienced clinician, supervisor, and educator, presents a metatheoretical yet practical guide to working with children ages 3 to 12 years. She draws heavily on developmental, interpersonal, family systems, and self-psychological schools of thought and integrates the core components of all of these approaches in a clear and concise manner. She stresses the need for intensive assessment to precede conceptualization and treatment planning so that treatment techniques are dictated by the needs of each child and family. Brems has contoured the third edition to meet the practical needs and expectations of students and practitioners. Divided among four sections, the chapters follow the logical development of clinicians, mirroring the natural flow of work with childrenfrom the practitioners self-exploration, to learning about special aspects of children (such as diversity and development), to awareness about the special needs and demands of children as related to environmental, legal, and ethical issues. Brems prepares clinicians to discover their own personal traits that may facilitate or hinder their work with children. She walks child therapists and counselors through the initial stages of intake, assessment, and conceptualization. The material on assessment instruments is thoroughly updated; discussions refer to the latest versions of instruments, and if new instruments emerged that meet one of the purposes deemed essential to child treatment, they are included. The text contains case examples, each illustrating a specific therapeutic technique.

Book More Than Love

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The “graceful, loving,” (The New York Times Book Review), never-before-told story of Hollywood icon Natalie Wood’s glamorous life, sudden death, and lasting legacy, written by her daughter, Natasha Gregson Wagner. Natasha Gregson Wagner’s mother, Natalie Wood, was a child actress who became a legendary movie star, the dark-haired beauty of Splendor in the Grass and West Side Story. She and Natasha’s stepfather, the actor Robert Wagner, were a Hollywood it-couple twice over, first in the 1950s, and then again when they remarried in the 70s. To Natasha, she was, above all, a doting, loving mom. But Natalie’s sudden death by drowning off Catalina Island at the age of forty-three devastated her family, turned Robert Wagner into a person of interest, and transformed a vibrant wife, mother, and actress into a figure of tragedy. The weekend has long been shrouded in rumors and scandalous tabloid speculation, but until now there has never been an account of how the events and their aftermath were experienced by Natalie’s beloved eldest daughter. Here, for the first time, is a“deeply intimate chronicle of life with her famous mother and how Wood’s death devastated the family” (Los Angeles Times). Cutting through the shadow hanging over her mother’s legacy, More Than Love is a “poignant” (The Washington Post) tale of a daughter coming to terms with her grief, as well as a “revealing new look at Natalie Wood” (Good Morning America).

Book Text Me When You Get Home

Download or read book Text Me When You Get Home written by Kayleen Schaefer and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Text Me has the thrills and laughs of a romantic comedy, but with an inverted message: ‘There just isn't only one love story in our lives,’ Schaefer writes. If you’re lucky, friends will be the protagonists in these multiple love stories. It’s high time that we start seeing it that way.”—NPR.org A personal and sociological examination—and ultimately a celebration—of the evolution of female friendship in pop culture and modern society For too long, women have been told that we are terrible at being friends, that we can’t help being cruel or competitive, or that we inevitably abandon each other for romantic partners. But we are rejecting those stereotypes and reclaiming the power of female friendship. In Text Me When You Get Home, journalist Kayleen Schaefer interviews more than one hundred women about their BFFs, soulmates, girl gangs, and queens while tracing this cultural shift through the lens of pop culture. Our love for each other is reflected in Abbi and Ilana, Issa and Molly, #squadgoals, the acclaim of Girls Trip and Big Little Lies, and Galentine’s Day. Schaefer also includes her own history of grappling with a world that told her to rely on men before she realized that her true source of support came from a strong tribe of women. Her personal narrative and celebration of her own relationships weaves throughout the evolution of female friendship on-screen, a serious look at how women have come to value one another and our relationships. Text Me When You Get Home is a validation that has never existed before. A thoughtful, heart-soaring, deeply reported look at how women are taking a stand for their friendships and not letting go.

Book Diaries of a Traveling Renegade

Download or read book Diaries of a Traveling Renegade written by Mary Maurine Tucker and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I want to share my story of survival in hopes to give others courage. I had been seeing women being murdered almost daily by their husbands who later were found to be abusive. Lacey Peterson is one that comes to mind most frequently because her abuser killed not only her but their unborn child. This saddened me. I had left my abuser against all odds. Why could these women not leave before it escalated to this point? People had told me I should write a book, tell my story. God told me it was time to write. If I could overcome abuse from childhood, sexual molestation, and spousal abuse, why was it so hard for them? I had help, the Lord was there for me every time I called to him, and many times I did not. Telling me what to do. The Holy Spirit was with me through the writing of this book, I was just his vessel.

Book Happily Ever After

Download or read book Happily Ever After written by Annette Morris and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2009-10 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The abused children in our world do not know that an expansion has occurred in their brains as a result of the abuse. They do not know that they have a deeper understanding and recognition for love than most others. They have not yet been told that the dissociative states, the constant firing of fear in their brains (panic disorders), and the need to scan an environment for danger actually created an expansion in their consciousness. That expansion will allow abused or violated people to heal their wounds, release the blocks to love in their lives, and be the pioneers who create our New Reality. Happily Ever After is a collection of stories about six children who suffered from abuse. These stories have been strategically written through NLP techniques to allow the reader to access compassion and tap into the vast imagination that is available to all at birth. The children in these stories offer an incredible gift in their imaginative scenarios toward building a kinder and more compassionate world--a New World that elicits motivation and enthusiasm instead of violence.

Book Touching Stories of My Life in Journey to Christian Holiness and Hands on Patient Care in a Weeping Healthcare

Download or read book Touching Stories of My Life in Journey to Christian Holiness and Hands on Patient Care in a Weeping Healthcare written by Ramsis F. Ghaly FACS, MD and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-08-26 with total page 988 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the twelfth book of the series “Christianity and the Human Brain.” It integrates the neuroscience and the Bible, the Holy Book of our Lord Jesus. My love for our Lord, Jesus Christ, abides with my lifetime passion for neurosurgery and medicine, my continual obsession of spiritual connectivity of the Holy Spirit to the human brain that indeed separates mankind from all other living creation. It has been my belief that the human brain does not limit itself to the physical skull but rather extends in a nonphysical form to the outside spiritual world, even while living on earth. In other words, a big part of the human brain is actually outside the skull and the body. As I perform brain surgeries for three decades, I realize my theory is so true. The majestic human brain can’t be just the 1,500 grams of jelled matter inside the skull. The human journey, therefore, is transforming the human brain to become a brain of a man of God and the hand of man to a hand of a man of God. The spiritual human brain never dies, only the flesh. It is the center of my calling and unrelenting meditations while roaming in the heartfelt spirit lacking the physical proof that science demand of me. My life is dedicated to my Lord Jesus, patients, and residents. As a physician, I have reached the top in America, I am a professor of both neurological surgery and anesthesiology, and I am well-published in famous medical journals. As an academic teacher, I trained for more than thirty-four years, graduating thousands of trainee. But all is nothing as I strive for the Christian holiness and fullness. In a weeping healthcare with many patients’ falling victims, I included actual patients’ miracles, testimonials, and sincere quotes as a testament to the Almighty and the dire need for faith and integral goodhearted medicine. This book is full of many vibrant stories that I love to share. It is timely since I consider my generation soon will be viewed obsolete to the future generations, and what will remain are the books I authored. The book is a text of wealth covering broad and diverse topics of my life’s journey in 134 chapters and organized over 14 sections. So many chapters are written about my special love for Lord Jesus Christ and His children. In poems, deep reflections, and spiritual release of mind, I wrote extensively. In fact, I shut my senses and impersonated the human brains of the men of God and the children of the Most High in their prominent biblical stories. A special section is dedicated to the mothers, newborns, and little children. While my soul is grieving, a section is designated on the ongoing Christian persecution, especially the genocide of Christians in my country Egypt, the ancient region of the Middle East, and the oldest historic continent of Africa. Furthermore, I wrote some of my dreams and thoughts that I couldn’t otherwise convey for one reason and another, such as neuroscience in aerospace and some of the timely, touching subjects like drug overdose, human trafficking, and healthcare crises. Few chapters included are about my personal views and introducing spirituality into the recent turmoil in politics. Friends, human life starts with love and ends with eternal love for our Savior. It is never enough to share our love, write about love, and talk about actual love stories of heavenly roses, joy, Christmas, healing touch, miracles, and our calling for his purpose. This is what my twelfth book is all about.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teach social skills and enrich classrooms to reduce problem behaviors and nurture growth. When teachers create environments that teach skills rather than punish individual actions, they reduce behavior problems and nurture the growth of all learners. Much like gardeners who adjust soil, water, or fertilizer to help flowers bloom, educators of young children must look beyond challenging behaviors to what a child’s actions are communicating about her learning environment or home life.
