Book I m a Registered Nurse Not a Whore

Download or read book I m a Registered Nurse Not a Whore written by Anne Perdue and published by Insomniac Press. This book was released on 2010-10-15 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The darkly humorous stories in I'm A Registered Nurse Not A Whore take dead aim at how easily our desire to be good is perverted or undermined by a desperate need for love and recognition. Despite a world of fading optimism and advancing catastrophe, plans are formulated, deals drawn, bargains struck, and hope prevails. Beautifully flawed, well-meaning yet easily sidelined, the characters in these eight stories catapult off the rails of ordinary life before raising themselves up - if only for a moment - in oddly heroic ways. These stories will make you laugh, reflect, and yearn to carry on.

Book How Could I have Missed This I m a Registered Nurse

Download or read book How Could I have Missed This I m a Registered Nurse written by C. Hill RN and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-04-22 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On February 4, 2012, a young forty-nine-year-old female had a stroke while in a Kroger store. This was before all the ads came out about if someone can't talk, you need to get them to the ER. That was what had happened to her the day before. She then had a stroke while her son was waiting for her to bring him his treats for the wrestling tournament that he was in. Her daughter was waiting for her to come home, and she was calling her to see what was the matter. Her mother didn't take the phone with her. She didn't think she would need it. The funny thing was that, this woman was an experienced ICU, psychiatry, and emergency room RN. The things that happened after she had her stroke were unbelievable and life changing. She had a second stroke, a seizure, an inordinate amount of falls, depression, and anxiety. She had dealt with infidelity. She spent her time in one room of a large house, only leaving occasionally. It had been a difficult road, but even with total disability, you can overcome. This book is written to give others support, to let nurses know that you have to take care of yourself and you can never pray too much.

Book I Wasn t Strong Like This When I Started Out True Stories of Becoming a Nurse

Download or read book I Wasn t Strong Like This When I Started Out True Stories of Becoming a Nurse written by Lee Gutkind and published by Underland Press. This book was released on 2013-02-25 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of true narratives reflects the dynamism and diversity of nurses, who provide the first vital line of patient care. Here, nurses remember their first "sticks," first births, and first deaths, and reflect on what gets them though long, demanding shifts, and keeps them in the profession. The stories reveal many voices from nurses at different stages of their careers: One nurse-in-training longs to be trusted with more "important" procedures, while another questions her ability to care for nursing home residents. An efficient young emergency room nurse finds his life and career irrevocably changed by a car accident. A nurse practitioner wonders whether she has violated professional boundaries in her care for a homeless man with AIDS, and a home care case manager is the sole attendee at a funeral for one of her patients. What connects these stories is the passion and strength of the writers, who struggle against burnout and bureaucracy to serve their patients with skill, empathy, and strength.

Book A Contemporary History of the U S Army Nurse Corps

Download or read book A Contemporary History of the U S Army Nurse Corps written by and published by Government Printing Office. This book was released on with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on an organization, the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, which the author has been privileged to be affiliated with – in one way or another – for the greatest part of her adult life. As an active duty officer, the author had first-hand knowledge about the Army Nurse Corps inner workings and spent the last years of her Army career (from 1992) researching and writing the Corps history. One of her goals in researching and writing this history was to intrigue and provide a sense of gratification for the reader. After the conclusion of the Vietnam War, several wide-ranging and significant changes exerted myriad effects on the Army Nurse Corps. The most influential of these phenomena included the dismantling of the Selective Service System, the reorganization of the Army, the launch of the Health Services Command (HSC), the opening of the Academy of Health Sciences, the transformation of the Office of the Army Surgeon General, the inauguration of improvements in the Army Reserve and National Guard, and the evolution in the roles and status of women.
