Book excerpt: Excerpt from Wheat Outlook and Situation: February 1982 Based on the record reported acreage and an early yield estimate of bushels a seeded acre, winter wheat production is forecast at a record billion bushels for 1982. Going into winter dormancy, the cr0p was rated in good-to-excellent condition. But the final outcome at harvest rests on the weather and with growers' participation in the Government reduced acreage program (rap). Book Wheat Outlook and Situation

Download or read book Wheat Outlook and Situation written by United States Department Of Agriculture and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-09 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Wheat Outlook and Situation: May 1982 Wheat stocks going into the crop year, at billion bushels are up 13 percent from a year ago. As a result, total wheat supply will be close to last year's billion. Uncertainty surrounds the early-season demand outlook for The trade outlook hinges on the fact that world wheat carryover stocks are on the increase both in the United States and in foreign wheat exporting countries, plus the fact that current Northern Hemisphere wheat crops are developing well. Also important is the likely expansion of wheat plantings by major foreign exporters. While global wheat trade is expected to continue strong, u.s. Export prospects can change significantly from year to year depending upon changes in wheat production in the Soviet Union and China, the leading, purchasers of u.s. Wheat. While development of the 1982 cr0p in the Soviet Union contin ues to point to an improved harvest, Chinese crop condi tions have deteriorated. An appraisal of this situation suggests continued strong buying from China, but possi bly some decline in Soviet purchases. At this early date, the forecast of u.s. Exports is about 5 percent below this season's record billion bushels, or from to billion. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Wheat: Outlook and Situation Report; May 1985 Favorable winter and spring moisture conditions in the Plains wheat belt and widening use of high yielding varieties, combined with heavy participation in the acreage reduction program, are forecast to produce a u.s. Winter wheat crop of billion bushels. This is down from i984's billion bushels. The smallest planted acreage in 6 years will result in a winter wheat harvest estimated at million acres yielding over 40 bushels an acre. Production of Hard Red Winter, forecast at a record billion bushels, will not offset an expected 30 - percent shortfall in Soft Red output and an anticipated 10 - percent drop in White winter wheat. Program participation will also be higher in spring wheat areas, but farmers intend to increase plantings because of the reduced acreage conservation requirement -30 percent of the wheat base, versus up to 50 percent in 1984. Dry soil conditions may be a threat to some areas of an early seeded crop, but output of Durum and other spring wheat is expected to rise. Total US wheat production for 1985 is projected at billion bushels, down 2 percent from a year ago. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
